I've lived in a low crime, rural area my entire life, where our neighbors don't even really have to lock their doors at night. It's not unreasonable for someone coming rom a rural or suburban area to move to the city, and make the mistake of bringing that overly-trusting attitude along.

Average police response is about 11 minutes (if you're lucky). The average .357 is 1300 feet per second. You decide.

Whenever i miss my maintenance workers appointment , they just usually leave a note to say that no one was available at the time of their visit. These guys on the other hand are complete professionals and do everything to gain entry to get the job done, even if it means coming under fire .

I don't know in what state you live in???? Not in Texas, a note will not do. Climate change is for you. The maintenance men, not shot and 6' under is terrible. They live to did it again another day to someone else.

When I lived in an apt 2nd floor, whenever maintanence would enter with my permission from front office, they would leave a note. Where is the front office people authorizing this 'guy' to knock on people's door? Unless this apt complex is open to everyone who enters. Crazy.

@@kanukki84 , just my opinion. My assumption is that if you ask a lawyer; they'd tell you the same thing. So I am sure there are many reasons. each instance can vary but as in general it's probably the best thing to do. Exercising your rights doesn't admit guilt.

In the US: true, because you already have reached a state, where every idiot possesses a gun and can rob your home. In Europe: We´re glad we have very few of situations like these and in most cases, police call is totally sufficient. And we´re glad, nobody is allowed to carry a gun, so we don´t have mass shootings every day and other incidents related to guns. America is a great country, but this gun situation is just ridiculously out of control. It is one of the mayor reasons many Europeans would not want to move to the US.
