this week's wok from home episode is extra special. not only is steve cooking up the legendary chilli squid, but, it’s also the final of our first series. but don’t worry! we’ll be back. we’re just taking a short two-week break while we work on season two. which will launch on june 10. so, for our final episode we’re going out with a bang. the recipe you’ve all been waiting for. everyone’s favourite fiery side. chilli squid. enjoy + stay tuned for more info on season two. it’s going to be even better than our debut 😉

squid, body only, about 200g
50g cornflour
150ml vegetable oil
1 tsp shichimi powder
generous pinch of salt, plus extra to taste

spicy vinegar

50g caster sugar
2 tbsp water
5 tbsp malt vinegar
5 tbsp light soy sauce
pinch of sea salt
1 red chilli, deseeded, finely chopped
3 coriander sprigs, finely chopped

Yayyy more! I really like seeing these dishes cooked cause I can be wary of ordering outside of what I've already had so seeing it made here makes me more comfortable with ordering it in the future (and of course, making it myself).
Came across these videos via KZread recommendations and I’m so pleased this happened. Yesterday’s my daughter and me cooked up the chicken katsu curry. Had a right good time prepping and cooking and we all loved it. Brilliant videos, really appreciate all the work you put into this and sharing. Looking forwards to cooking rest of the dishes.

Ingredient list includes malt vinegar but he says (or tries to say 🤣) rice vinegar in the video. I made with malt vinegar and it was darker than shown. Definitely using rice vinegar next time

Its definitely rice wine vinegar. It isnt so deep. If you wanted a different flavour profile you can get chinese chilli vinegar. It has onions garlic and chili in it so it gives it a very different flavour. Its really nice.

Yeah! Also, there's no way that sauce is half light soy sauce lol. Light soy is literally black. I wish he'd actually shown how to make the sauce.
Awesome and so easy to do at home! I have all of the Wagamama cook books and never made a dish even close to this! Roll on the next lockdown so we get more videos (only joking!!!). Amazing job and can not wait to eat in with the family at the restraints again now they are re-open. Also another vote to bring back Kare Lomen 🍲
An all time favourite that reminds me of lunch dates with my younger sister who I call squid funnily enough! Haven't shared a recipe with her so fast lol #drooling

Awesome recipe! The instructions they've edited in for sauce is wrong, though. There's no soy and it uses rice wine vinegar (which I think he actually says)
