Great video, I turbod my 1fz 79 series Fzj79. It needed the fzj105 flywheel and clutch upgrade. Great motor 13 years of 15psi boost no issues.

It's running about the same boost as Toyota had on the supercharged trucks. Stock internals should be fine. We did a Cometic head gasket and ARP head studs on this one since we replaced most of the engine.

I'm planning to turbo my 1FZ and double the stock HP so I'll be changing to forged H-Beam rods and JP pistons as well as racing bearings ARP connecting rod studs, Mains and head studs. Crower Turbo stage 4 cams, Valve springs and Valves. I also have to buy anew head with upgraded valve seats as it will be running on LPG (autogas) when daily driving hence the need for a decent ECU that can run multiple fuel maps. I'll be purchasing a second motor to do these mods to so I can keep driving the 105R till it's ready. Then I'm going to find a car shell to put the original motor into and build it for about 1000 HP and have a street/Drag car. Not many people know that the 1FZ is capable of upto 1600HP when built, everyone goes the 2JZ route for engine swaps.

@@gta4pickled The 2j studs apparently are slightly on the short side for the head but lots still use them. the mains bolts are a bit shorter so they might be perfect for that. I ordered up two sets of the opal v6 studs will see how they look here in a few days when I get everything. I’m expecting to have to cut a bit off of a few of them.

what modifications does the kit provide to the fuel system for enrichment and drive ability correction ?

It runs on the stock system the same way the TRD super charger did. It doesn't boost high enough to need more mods.

It's up and running. We're just waiting on the owner to send us tags so we can test drive and break it in. Motor is stock except ARP head studs and a cometic head gasket.

Hey bud, do Wits end do a kit for the 100 series/ 105 do you know ? I am in Australia so the J piping may be close to the break booster and master cylinder, just curious if they do a kit for the coil pack model 1FZFE.

I think he said in a post that he doesn't think it'll fit a right hand drive truck. He'd be the one to ask to be sure though.

Very interesting thank you for showing us how to install this kit! Can the parts be purchased separately? e.g just the J pipe and downpipe? Will you be making any changes to the ECU? I'm not a fan of running the charged air straight to the throttle body as compressing it adds heat, I'd want to install an intercooler. I've been looking into turboing my 105 1FZ (non dizzy) using some of the cheaper chinese kits but only buying the hot side and completely replacing the intake manifold with a horizontal aftermarket plenum so I can run a larger Throttle body and an intercooler that brings the air in on the left side of the car instead of over the engine. I've also purchased a Link G4+ plug-in ECU (FZJ100Link) so it can be tuned easily.

@@AbsoluteWitsEnd yes was curious about what was being done to the 1FZ, so I gather by low boost it means about 5 psi so it doesn't lean out too hard? and about a 30hp gain?

This runs with no intercooler? Is that a problem or is that fine since its low boost. And the increase worth the kit? I'd consider doing this over trying to do a 1uz or 2uz swap if I'll be spending the same amount of money but can get more out of this kit in the long run

No intercooler because its only 7.25psi. I am in the middle of putting together a meth injection kit. I have both the supercharger and the turbo in both 97 LX450 and the turbo kicks the SC's ass. I don't understand the comment about same money as a 2UZ swap. This kit is $6k and can be done in ONE day. There is NO 2UZ off the shelf kit. No one installs a 2UZ for even close to $20k (I know, I tried) and it will take who knows how many weeks/months before you can drive it.

Was any internal engine components charged to handle the extra power?

the internals will handle quite a lot of power from the factory, this setup only runs like 6-8lbs of boost which is totally fine

Always remember when threading into aluminum. Tighten till she loosens then back half a turn

Nope, I just had the engine out for rebuild so it made filming easier. It'd be a nice install with the engine in place.

They don't exist new anymore. Used or custom made are the only options I know of.

No vacuum pump. There's no need for one. If you Google wits end land cruiser the turbo will come up.

I’ve got an automatic 2001 land cruiser with the same engine 1FZ-FE we’ve had it for 10 years now. would you say it’s worth it to rebuild the engine and install a supercharger ? I like to do off-roading when it’s raining (live in uae) and I’d like to have the extra fun but I’m worried if that gonna cause issues to the engine or maybe it’s not a good idea since it’s an automatic. What do you think ?

Toyota installed lower boost superchargers here at the dealer with no issues. It just depends on how well the engine and trans have been maintained. There's lots of guys in Australia running crazy turbo set ups with lots of power on them.

OTRAMM i had to rebuild the transmission earlier this year and I’ll probably rebuild the engine since it’s so old and doesn’t run as well as it used to, but still in a good shape. I’m just asking if the extra wear the supercharger going to cause is noticeable or will reduce the reliability.

I think people usually do forged rods and pistons and thats really it. I think the block is strong enough for the hp. Maybe fuel pump, injectors, and spark plugs as well.

Just the 95-97. The fuel control on the earlier trucks won't handle it.

I don't know. It's a customer truck. It's really good to depend how it's driven.

Thanks for a great video. I noticed that you connected the blow off valve to the intake manifold. This is a common mistake. If it is connected there when you throttle off the manifold vacuum will be closing the blow off valve while the turbo is still pumping hard against a closed throttle plate, causing the turbo to surge. Not a good thing. If the blow off valve is on the turbo side of the throttle plate it will open when you back off and open the blow off valve - saving surge.

No, it has to be a 95 and newer. The older ones don't have an ecu that will support it.

The turbo ended well. The build ended up dragging out with customer additions. The owner picked it up a few months ago and really likes the power.

Awesome, but 6000$?! Spent less on a twin turbo setup for my bnr32 including an ecu.

It's an amazing kit that's more well thought out than any other kit for anything I've seen. Built for a super small market and to pass CA emmissions. There is a ton of investment there that he's got to recoup.

@@OTRAMM I have seen a lot worse, for far more money. Take a twin turbo kit for Audi R8 v10 ay a measly 13.000$, same kit for a Lamborghini Hurracan, 19.000$. Identical kit but Lambo kit cost extra the same as this whole kit, just because of Audi vs. Lambo people are expected to spend less. For quality people will pay, there are kits on evil-bay for less than half, but way less complete. Not cheap but, for the quality, not really that expensive either. Even the tools you need are included. The most complete kit I have ever seen, on any car.

It's a shame that Wit's End came to an end... This kit would have been awesome.

It's a kit and that's where it places the turbo. Looking at it, that was the best compromise to get everything to fit in such a tight space.
