When I was paying off my debt I learned this method where you tackle paying off your smallest debt first! That way you get a quick victory and want to keep on going! I suggest you finish off your quickest WIPS first and get that little knitting victory which will help you tackle your bigger WIPS, like your husband's sweater!! 😊

Finish the rattan top the way it is. I think it's super cute. Just go straight down, don't split it and when you get to the length you want only do maybe 4 rows of ribbing.
I love the rattan sleeveless top!!! Don’t frog it! 🥰

I also love it sleeveless ❤
I actually adore there "rattan" design. The side with there armhole shaping looks so professional and amazing. If you did release it as a sweater with looser sleeves I'd probably still make it as a short sleeve/tank/vest
That summer top is absolutely glorious. I adore that shape and style!

Me too!
I don’t like summer knits, generally, and I really liked your summer tank design. Also, my thought on Penny’s Ingrid sweater is that you could rip out the unfinished sleeve, do some quick ribbing and she could wear it as a layering vest this autumn and winter. Just my two cents! I really enjoyed your WIP parade and found it inspirational for dealing with my languishing WIPs.
1000000x times yes to the rattan crop! I would totally make that!
If you find a draw to the rattan sweater and write the pattern up, I am 100% in! So beautiful!!!
Big Love - knit two rows a day, or get your sample knitter to finish it, or designate an hour a week. I think when you get started again you might find it whizzes off the needles
I was so excited about your rattan sweater!!!! So I am rooting for it!!
That summer top looks amazing 😍 Could definitely see myself making that! The sleeve with the shaping looks so flattering too 🙂
I love how the eyelet tank looks! I would just finish the body as is. If you REALLY want a sweater you can add the sleeves last, but it honestly looks great as is and looks super wearable too.
I love the summer top. I vote to finish it! So nice to see you back…
That tank that you were working on.... That mod for under the arm is SOOOOO good! Way better than most patterns you see with arms like that. I have a lot of sensory things too, so I love seeing details like that! Could you make Penny's Ingrid into a vest???? Then you wouldn't have to knit the sleeves and she could wear it through summer on chilly days, then she could wear it longer as vests are cute cropped and you don't have to worry about sleeve length. Love it all! :D
I love the rattan top! Re Penny's pretty sage green cabled sweater - how about removing the sleeves altogether, adding a rib 'cuff' (?) to each shoulder (similar to the rattan top shapped one) and turn into a tank top? It would look so cute - if too narrow perhaps steek up the sides and add a wider ribbed edge plus a button or two to close, or a knitted tab across with buttons to fasten, for a more tunic style? Hard to describe in words! The front and back is so pretty, it seems a shame to not use for Penny. Edited to add - those beautiful mini skeins from Woolly Mammoth could make a beautiful Musselburgh hat - plus no weaving in ends!

This was my thought as well! It would look so cute as a sweater vest, over little dresses or shirts
The rattan tshirt looks great! Such an intriguing stitch, and its shaping is lovely too
I love the rattan summer top. The texture is stunning and the sleeve shaping is really clever. A great episode. X
The summer top is gorgeous! Split hem, 1x1 ribbing and longer back, that's it! Since you don't like to knit the sleeves, I would do a Ingrid Slipover and just add ribbing. You can knit one second sock between projects, it would maybe go faster and help you finish it.
This kind of video is the best, so motivational! for my Easter holidays, I had 2 weeks off and I challenged myself to finish as many wips as possible. I ended up with 4 new sweaters 🎉🎉🎉🎉 I think I will challenge myself again this summer 😊 good luck with yours
I LOVE the summer top! 10/10 will make if you release it!!! I love the short sleeve option
For scrappy socks without weaving in the ends, I use the clasp and weft join method ! Works well 😊
I love the look of that rattan top. I was just like OMG i want that but with a winter yarn as I want a vest like that!! But sweater sounds great too!
I’ve been looking everywhere for a design just like that summer top! If you decide to finish and release it, I’d love it in any form, long or short sleeve! It’s gorgeous 🥰
Disclaimer: I'm SO not a designer. That said - the shaping and fit of the rattan top is gorgeous. I think it would be very cute with short sleeves and a deeply split hem - something that maybe shows a little side belly when you stretch, maybe is ever so SLIGHTLY A-line... not too long. :) All that said, it's such a lovely fit that it would make a great sweater and I think it's definitely worth playing with different options. :) Really enjoying this podcast, thank you!!!

PS - Crop that September sweater down!!! If you've got the yarn (or frog a little) you could literally cut it and graft the ribbing back on...
Definitely make the summer tip into a sweater if you love it. You can always make the one you made a smaller size in your pattern and knit a second sample in the amount of ease you are looking for
Love the texture of the eyelets❤
The green childs sweater is so beautiful. I would take out the partial sleeve and do the sleeves in the moss stitch. It will be easier to do the decreases that way and i think it would look great.
I also love the rattan sleeveless top. Laura, I hope that you finish your husband’s cardigan… it’s lovely❤️
Love that summer top! Amazing, hope you carry on with it 😊
I absolutely love that summer top. i would love to make that design 😢
The rattan top would be lovely as a cardigan x
That summer top is beautiful!! I could do picture that turned into a sweater ❤
I really adore your unique armhole shaping on the potential summer design Laura! Its a wonderful little feature! If you don't proceed with that design, it could be a wonderful design element on something else in the future!
LOVE that summer design. Keep going if you feel up to it! Beautiful!
Nice to see you again Laura. The summer t shirt is gorgeous especially the underarm shaping, very clever.
The unfinished rattan summer top looked sensational on you! I would knit it in a heartbeat! Love the more shaped sleeve!
Love this sort of video, I'm having a sick day and it's lovely to have some company while I get a bit of knitting done myself ❤
Love the rattan top as a summer top… looks fab and would be a great summer knit ❤❤
Love the lattice design! Winter/summer, whatever! It’s fabulous! Sure hope you persevere ❤
I really love the rattan style tank it's amazing keep going I'd definitely make it for a summer top xxx
I would toootally knit that rattan style as a sweater 😍 I love that stitch pattern!
I’m so glad you said what you did about honeycomb cables-I feel the exact same way!
I just love this. It’s gorgeous!
That pink summer tee is fabulous!
I would definitely knit the lace top in sweater version! The lace work and neckline look amazing
Laura the summer top you are designing looks amazing, it would also look great with long sleeves. Enjoyed going through all your WIP 🧶
The summer top looks great on you!
Men's cable sweater: I'm currently knitting the Wayne Sweater by Sari Nordlund for my husband. Not sure what you mean by traditional, but she is my favourite cable designer. She has several other cable sweaters that I looove. Idea for the half finished Ingrid Sweater: You could sell the project as is, with the remaining yarn. If I had children, I would love to have a hand knit sweater that's almost done.
The little Ingrid sweater would be so cute as short-sleeved at the k2p2 sleeves section. And then peplum the waist for length? So cute!
Love your shirt with the yarn merci, don’t stop, it will be beatifull😊 🇨🇦
I love the summer tank you started! would love to make that.
I really love the rattan top! Love your idea of making it into a sweater, I've actually been looking for a pattern like this with eyelets and this one looks exactly like what I would want to make. But only finish it if it brings you joy! It's no use making patterns just for the sake of making them :)
I love using minis for the yoke of the little Cameron sweater. I've knit 3 kids sweaters from that pattern with scraps or minus and it was a great way to use up bits and just hold fingering double.
The new top is wonderful and I would really like to knit it
I LOVE that rattan shirt! Pleaaaase continue it.
At first glance I didn't care for the rattan knit, but once you put it on, I was like, oh nice! I'd buy that! I'm so glad you mentioned the Big Love sweater. I recently finished one for my daughter and I had really struggled to finish it. Glad to hear I wasn't alone in that.
Beautiful projects and textures! Best wishes from Canada!
Love the "rattan" top. I can see it as a long sleeve over dress! Pair it with a bathing suite for summer or leggings and turtle neck for autumn.
I love the Rattan Shirt! It is great!
Wonderful episode, as usual! I am so looking forward to your release of the “Midland” cardigan!! ❤
Love the tank top idea, your brioche sweater, i would knit the sleeves and split the hem because it's gorgeous ❤ but yes, before anything else, i would finish the sock for mmom, then cardigan for hubby just because you will feel so accomplished and it would be done!❤ love your thought process on your wips.
I love the unfinished summer top. When you said maybe turn it into a sweater I had a picture in my mind's eye of a split hem. You do the same thing I do. Set aside a WIP and then forget what size needle was used. I found a great fix for that issue. They are called needle size reminders. They are basically stitch markers only instead of a pretty charm on it, it has a number that correlates to your needle size. I have made myself a full set. Love them.
I love the rattan top! I would love to see that one finished and released so I can make one.
Hi as always you have one of the loveliest designs with the tank top. Hope you keep it but no pressure.
I Ioved the ' Rattan ' top. It looks so good on you. It looks awesome as a short sleeve, but would look lovely with long sleeves too. 😊
The rattan sweater should be a go. It is soooo nice..yes please!
The rattan tee top all the way gal. So many subscribers love it.
Oh i love the ratan top, it’s so pretty, please don’t frog it 🙏🏻
The rattan pattern top is a definite goer....That colour suits you so much...love it as it is, prefer the shaped armhole. I don't really knit for myself but I can see this as something I would try. Also love the other version idea...
I think your summer top would be a gorgeous slip over.
I really love your summer knit design! I would love to knit it (if you would like to finish it of course) but I think it is beautiful. Lovely episode!
Yes! Please make it into a sweater pattern!!! ❤❤❤
I would LOVE a t-shirt version of the ratan top!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this video, Laura. A real pick-me-up while recuperating from a nasty bout of flu. Another vote for the rattan top: you could use it as a basis for a variety of tops, as you did with your Souffle. I love the shaping technique you used for the right armhole. The top would look great as a crop, standard length, hi-low ribbed edge, or even a hip-skimming A-line, swishy top, with a folded hem. I would also love to see it as a polo shirt, or a wide-sleeve kimono-style jacket. If you don't fancy a kimono for your own wardrobe, it would make a very special gift knit. 😺🧶😽
I’m so glad to hear there are others who struggle with knitting decisions. To frog or not? Good episode!
Laura…. The rattan top. Omg! I’ve been wanting something like this for a summer sweater (saw something similar on someone) - I would 💯 knit one of those for next summer. Please keep! 🙏🏼
That rattan tank is so cute!!! I think as a cropped, long sleeve sweater with relaxed sleeves would be so cute! Also I havent personally knit it, but I have heard great things about the Handsome Chris mens cabled sweater pattern
Omg, Laura, I’m ✨obsessed✨ with that rattan stitch on your sleeveless (or soon-to-have-sleeves) top 🤩🤠 I can’t wait to see what comes of this idea 🥳 (but I also fully respect if this doesn’t speak to you and we never see it again 💫)
Love your ‘rattan’ top! I would make it tank or sweater!
I like the summer top design a lot! Especially with the more fitted armhole. (And I don’t normally gravitate towards summer knits…)
I LOVE the rattan design and would love if you finished it and released it . I would definitely knit it❤
The rattan summer sweater is adorable!! I would definitely want to knit it if you ever finish the pattern, but no pressure at all.. do what you enjoy and what speaks to you :). Such a fun look at your unfinished projects! I have quite a number of them myself.. as in at least 4 blankets which just need to be seamed together... my least favorite part of a project.. I prefer to just knit!
I love your souffle! Perhaps a rattan collection? vest, slipover, sweater, summer socks?
Love the rattan design, make the pistachio green one into a tank top and gift, with the stripped sock make a sibling sock.
I really like the rattan look top. I think it would look nice as a tank or as sweater with big puffy sleeves.
I highly recommend the "Handsome Chris Pullover" for a men's cabled jumper. It's designed after the infamous knit sweater in Knives Out... I knit it up in Drops Nepal and I absolutely adore it. I didn't even mind knitting the body flat and seaming, and then I modified the sleeves to knit in the round! And the best way to tackle the WIP pile is just to start! Pick one, and spend 20-30 minutes knitting on it every morning (or longer, as you feel like it), and slowly but surely you'll make great progress!
I also recently released a frog or finish video and feel so much better after going through everything I have on the needles. I love your projects and am in love with the Eclair Sweater
Brooklyn tweed has a lot of really nice cable designs
I love the rattan top with the slimmer armhole (right side)! I envision a slightly cropped, split hem in rattan colored linen. Maybe less ribbing around neck. I hope I can knit it this summer or next. Please don’t frog.
Fantastic summer top… release it please!❤
Hey Laura - great video. The rattan stitch pattern is lovely - even if not for that design (although I love it) a great one for you to think on for another design. The Sunday sweater - maybe take out the hem, split it and do a binding on armholes and you would have a quick finished slip over (it’s winter here and I’m just finishing off the Sunday slipcover but doing a split hem.) Looking forward to your next post.
My oldest WIP/UFO was from 2000. I bought the yarn on holiday in Milan! Finally finished it but gave it away. I couldn’t bear to frog it. Worked to the pattern but I have short arms so they were at least 5” too long.
I recently made my Dad the Wilde pullover, which is a men’s all over cable jumper from Harrisville Designs. It’s only on 4mm needles with a lot of ease but I changed to 5mm needles with thicker yarn and made two sizes smaller to get less ease and a quicker knit, which turned out really well!
Hi Laura! Loved seeing everything you've been working on. I also have quite the languishing WIP pile myself! I really liked your "rattan" shirt pattern, but I agree with what you were saying abut turning it into a long-sleeve top. I may be biased though because those "drop-shoulder" construction slipovers don't love as good on my body type (wide shoulders) :P I really love the stitch pattern of the lace though :)
I love the stitch pattern of your summer design. First thought I got when I saw it is that it’d make a great tee, so maybe making it into a sweater would be a more versatile design (could be knit with short or long sleeves).
For cables sweaters, I love the Dornie pattern by Rebecca of the creabea.
I love the eyelet tank. It could be a beautiful vest (I would make it for sure). I really like the shaping of the underarm. I would crop it a bit for a shirttail peak out at the bottom.
Thank you for answering my long-held question about how people with lots of wips remember the needle sizes they've used. 😂 I have enough problems with three.
Jared Flood has a crap ton of cabled tops. Like tillage, watermark, and svenson classic (tho not deep honeycomb holes, it has a kinda hexi-chain link panel). I’m always inspired by ur makes!
Sirdar has quite a few men’s traditional sweaters. I made one for my husband and the pattern was well written.
I'm currently knitting the Saven sweater for a male friend and it's lovely, cabled and no honeycomb. The designer has tons of other beautiful cable designs to check out, too!

I have that one in my ravelry favourites but the cables looked quite intense and like it would take a lot of concentration!

@@_laurapenrose_ the cables on the sleeves have been pretty memorizable, but that center cable on the body is really intense! It's definitely not a situation where you don't have to look at the pattern after the first few rows.
