Yes, almost all of their songs are that long and and they are all that epic. There are only 3 WinterSun songs that are shorter than 6 minutes.

Loved this, thank you! "Loneliness" (official lyric video) next, please. It is the saddest, most beautiful song. And so is "Pale Morning Star" (official lyric video) by Insomnium, an amazing melodic death metal band from Finland. Then you could try something funny.. "Cathedrals of Mourning" by the Belzebubs, that are heavy metal cartoon characters. 🤘🤘 Enjoy!

I have a friend who loves these guys but I hadn't heard them until I started watching you. I think he assumed I wouldn't like it bc I normally don't enjoy this vocal style. But I like this!

I agree with you Time by Pink Floyd is a really great track. But for me at times, pardon the pun, Time by Wintersun is the greatest. The sheer emotion in the vocals alone seal the deal for me.

OK, same as with their first song. Great songwriting, great musicians, really good song. And yes, I also can close my eyes and see the fairies 🧚‍♀️ , the trolls and Finlands dark woods. What I write now is my taste and nothing else. I don’t like the growling. To me it ruins the song. So you Wintersun fanboys who were upset with my opinion in Tobys first Wintersun reaction: Cool down and simply accept my taste (if it makes you feel better BAD TASTE). BTW: Is this song really epic? Yes, nowadays with so many bad, average and boring metal bands Wintersun is special, but epic? Sometimes I wonder why 99% of all reactors only react to „amazing“, „fantastic“, „outstanding“, „breathtaking“ or „epic“ songs. Seems there are no average or bad songs on KZread. To make it clear: Toby is part of the 1%.

"Epic" songs to me have to be long, go on a journey, and have more than just guitar, bass, vocals, and drums. So yeah, I would define most WinterSun songs as "epic". "Epic" also depends a lot on melodic choices. If you want a truely epic song, check out The Odyssey by Symphony X if you haven't already heard it. It's a literal epic, a musical retelling of The Odyssey by Homer. (and no growls)

@@ThaBeatConductor I know (and like) Symphony X, I think we just have different views on "epic". From your point of view Wintersun (and Nightwish) have a lot of epic songs. For me an epic song has to fullfill your definition but also has to be timeless - people will look (listen) at it still 50 years after recording. Example would be "Suppers Ready" by Genesis or "Tubular Bells" by Mike Oldfield.

@@ebm-everythingbutmainstream Yea, timeless-ness is an aspect as well but it's like a tertiary aspect, considering that most metal hasn't been around long enough to know if it'll stand the time test. Arguably though, if a song is a 10/10 now, it'll probably never not be a 10/10. That's why I say melodic choice matters a lot.
