"Time" is a masterpiece. One of the most powerful and beautiful metalsongs ever written.

I've never understood why people always recommend "Sons..." first. This is THE Wintersun song, and it's unsurpassed. Great reaction, and I love your honesty. Cheers.

“Sons of Winter and Stars” is a bit of an odd song. It’s basically a showcase of little pieces of everything they can do, glued together. But as a song I think it’s the least cohesive of all their songs. It’s still impressive and I like listening to it, but it doesn’t have the same effect as most of their other songs and especially “Time”.

After listening sons of Winter and stars like 1000 times.. It is the only Wintersun song that feels too long.. 🤔 there is parts that Song really dont need.. but still it is amazing Song. But i like Time more 👌

Starchild is a killer song from 1st album. SoWaS is a kind of sequel?..

I'll make this comment having watched only 1:45 of the video and addressing what you have said: I'm a hardcore Wintersun fan and I love reaction videos about Wintersun and I'm always thrilled to see the reactor actually liking it, but what's more important to me is that the reaction is genuine. I don't remember your last Wintersun reaction since I watch hundreds of them but I hope that in this video you express your criticism of the band and the song genuinely. It's totally fine to dislike the song even if it's an unpopular opinion and I appreciate that. I think Time is an incredible masterpiece so of course I hope you'll enjoy it also and if you genuinely like it, I would be pleased to see a genuinely happy reaction to it. Absolutely huge props though on the willingness to give something another chance and being open to be proven wrong. That's an extremely impressive attitude. Cheers.

Time is an absolute masterpiece. Up there with ghost love score in my opinion.

Wintersun s songs are so complex that you have to listen many times before you notice all the subtleties

You are going to enjoy Land of Snow and Sorrow for sure, it's the last one from this rehearsal session. Another must is Loneliness (Winter), beautiful ballad with Jari's outstanding clean vocals. Agreed... I really like when metal bands give more emotions and thoughts. In finnish metal you many times find strange uplifting melancholy. We like sadness in songs. 🤘🏼😎

Unpopular opinion I preferred the original version of Land of Snow and Sorrow. SoWaS and live are equal for me. Time (live) better than original.

The first time I heard Wintersu’s song, it was Loneliness. Then I listened to it quite a few times in a row.

That's definitely the face of a man who just fell in love. ^^ I'd suggest you check out "Land of Snow and Sorrow" from the same rehearsal session and "The Way of the Fire" live@Hollywood [multicam] next. The latter is a fanmade edit, there sadly isn't any official (live) recording of this song available. Picture- and sound quality therefore aren't perfect. The song is so ridiculously good though that I'll never stop forcing it down ppl's throats (Unless Jari FINALLY drops Time II that is^^)

Your eyes lit at certain points, everyone can tell you loved it! For the next reaction, i recommend Insomnium - Lay of the autumn.

I've seen many bands live... Wintersun by far is the best I've ever seen in person. Baltimore Maryland! Can't wait until they tour USA again! Time is a album that is perfection live or listening to the recorded cd. It's a feeling that is indescribable.

Awesome reaction dude. I struggled at first with sons of winter and stars it was to intense and almost overwhelming. But I adore it now. But time is insanely good. Enjoy wintersun 😀🤘🏻

Same thing happened to me. First, I went to Sons of Winter and Stars, as it was the most highlighted, in my case, because of the drummer Kai Hahto (following a lead after a few Nightwish videos, for which Kai now is the drummer, I ended up in Wintersun). Technically, I couldn't fault them, but the song didn't do much for me. Then, I gave it another go with "Time". Been a fan ever since! Sons of Winter and Stars is now also one of my favorites.

I listen and sing and growl along in my kitchen most days to this I am big fan of most metal bands, secret rock chick inside evolved I'm a Wintersun Woman they are wonderful... Jari and Tomous of Nightwish need to get together while still breathing and take us places that are prescious as they are... good on you for going back and exploring a band that didn't grab you at first! honestly, ive found some of my favourite tv/books/podcasts/bands by doing the same thing. Time is one of their songs that impresses me the most. Jari's vocal control and range is stunning, especially when you consider that he only has 3/4ths lung capacity. (He had some of a lung removed due to complications of an illness during his mandatory national service)

This song really takes its time to evolve... no pun intended! :) It's an amazing song, with awsome riffs, melodies and energy and a great vocalist! Really love it!!! And yes, the drummer (Kai Hahto) is amazing and is currently with the band Nightwish, so maybe you'd like to give them a listen! They're not as heavy as Wintersun but certainly as epic and very diverse, with great live performances.

Hey! U discovered my favorite band. I heard all of their songs many times.. IF u want to try a black metal feel then go for "eternal darkness" if u like faster guitar solos and more speed then go for "winter madness" or Beautiful death" and if u want slower melodic stuff then "loneliness" and if u want an overall great wintersun feel then go for a "starchild 2.0" u can't go wrong either way though

Basically their songs are all good. i agree that sons of winter and stars isn't as good as the other songs though so your first reaction hesitancy is understandable . "sleeping stars " is also recomended I second the "starchild 2.0 " as it's very quick and enjoyable

from Wintersun, songs I'd recommend: Death and the Healing, Loneliness (Winter), Winter Madness ...the whole discography is amazing to be honest. ;)

this song is an easier listen in fairness, I doubt I liked Sons the first time I heard it. My wife is a total classical head but she started listening to The Charismatic Voice as I watched her channel and got into both Nightwish and Wintersun, quite the turn around

Go back to your first reaction. Their first album has shorter songs. Shortest one Beyond the Dark Sun is pure awesomeness.

Normally, I would suggest listening to the entire album, because it's a journey and every step of the way is as important as the destination. When you reacted to Sons Of Winter And Stars, actually you were reacting to When Time Fades Away (which is the intrumental intro) and then Sons, which can be divided into four stages: Rain of Stars, Surrounded by Darkness, Journey Inside a Dream and Sons of Winter and Stars. Then, there's Land Of Snow And Sorrow, which you haven't reacted to yet. Finally, there's Time, but this one also has another song in it called Darkness and Frost (3:30 to 5:55); and Time itself is the last song of the album. The intros are as important as the songs with lyrics, because they set the tone for the following songs, which is why they're included in the rehearsals.

Winter Metal is the genre they call themselves, that fits many other Finnish bands too. Nothing "death" about this beautiful music.

Now I've watched the whole video and I'm really glad you like (or even love) the song ^^. I think I myself have been the harshest critic of this particular song that I know of. It took me years to appreciate it as it was too progressive to my tastes. Oh how god awfully wrong was I. I understand the criticism of Sons Of Winter And Stars as it's more like a showpiece of the kind of range he's able to do and the song is all over the place, but I still love it to death. The "Big Four" of Wintersun in my view are Sons Of Winter And Stars, Time, Eternal Darkness and Loneliness. They're all very long songs, but absolutely well worth it. You can find shorter songs in the legendary debut album, but in my opinion the later production are better in many ways, though I think most fans would disagree. Still the debut album is full of masterpieces, but their age surely shows. If you decide to react to those songs, be sure to check the official channel for remastered lyric videos. My personal ranking of the top 4 songs are: 1. Eternal Darkness 2. Loneliness (so these are even more impressive masterpieces than "Time") 3. Sons of Winter and Stars 4. Time.

Winter Madness and Battle Against Time are their best songs imo

Honestly, sometimes you can just be in the wrong mood for a particular piece of music, it hits you wrong and leaves you cold. Been there lots of times, tried something didn't like it. Hear it again some time later and you think, hang on, I'm sure I hated this?!

"Too long". Too long?! Too Long! :D no such thing :) Seriously though, there is no right or wrong. There's what you like and what you don't. Personally I absolutely love long songs as long as there is something happening in them and not just repetition. Wintersun has something very special, with talent in spades. Jari is a phenomenon in his own right.

Well....don't bet on enjoying many albums from them. Yari is not the fastest in writing albums Kai, the drummer, is now also the full-time drummer for Nightwish since 2015 and they are also an amazing metal band known for their symphonic metal. If you don't know them already then try anything from Wacken 2013 (live). Ghost Love Score is usually the one they recommend but it is a long song at 10 minutes so go for Romanticide, Song of Myself or Storytime first. After that the Army will show up and drag you along Then there is Ayreon, a one man project, that uses talent from all over the world in his music. Including fellow Australian Mike Mills from Toehider. He features heavily on the album The Source of which The day the world breaks down is the first track.

Loneliness is then next one 🤪

From the land of Wintersun I send my greetings and a wish that you check out a great Australian band: Be'lakor. Try something like From Scythe to Sceptre or Countless skies or Natural apostasy.

Also... I'm surprised no one has suggested Sadness and Hate.

havent gone through your channel but if you have not, give Fleshgod Appocalypse a listen, I am more of a deathmetal kind of guy but those guys combine it with classical music making it epic
