actually the choir in this song isn't his voice. He actually gathered a ton of singers from various finnish bands and recorded them singing in lower and higher octaves to make a huge choir wall

My favorite from the Forest Seasons. Most people seem to be drawn into the fast & brvtal Autumn or tearjerking Winter, but I really love the folky tunes, haunting atmosphere and those extremely groovy riffs. My only disappointment was that they didn't play this one live when I saw them couple weeks ago, cause I was ready to sing my heart out in that chorus. xD Eager to see more of your reactions, keep up the great work! ^^

I have to agree, I love Winter but this one was absolutely amazing. A close second to Winter. This album so far is pure GREATNESS!!!! As far as more reactions we do at least 1 a day, tomorrow will be 2. We try to cover all metal/rock spectrums the point is for my kid to learn as much as possible about this wonderful music we all love and for me to bond with him and discover bands I had no clue existed. I am an old school thrash metal guy trying to expand my horizons.

I'm with you on this. The riffs, folk, atmosphere, and that yell at the start of the second chorus.

That folk bridge makes the track the journey it is supposed to be.

The reason I love wintersun is because I can’t find a single thing in their music that I would do instead of what they’ve already done

Same. With some bands I like either the verses or the chorus but with my fav songs by Wintersun I like both (and the intermissions too).

That middle part gave me the same folk vibe, like you are in the forest in some medieval village or something. I'm really looking forward to your reaction to Eternal Darkness. Even though completely opposite to Loneliness, it's another demonstration of Jari's musical genius. True masterpiece.

Yes!!!!! That is exactly what I felt. So far this is one of my all time favs Wintersun songs.

great video you guys :) Can't wait to see your reaction to Eternal Darkness. It's my favorite Wintersun song right now after the release of the Forest Seasons album. And oh man... when you get to the debut album... you will become born again Mäenpää-ists. It's the most amazing album ever released. Every single song on that album is a masterpiece and absolute perfection.

Actually the choir in this song is an actual choir of i think 8-10 guys. There are videos on Jari's channel of the recordings if you wanna check them out.

The middle part definitely is folky sounding. It has a little bit of Ensiferum vibe (the folk metal band Jari did the two first AMAZING albums with). So it's no mystery.

The first selftitled Ensiferum Album is a absolute masterpiece in its genre, still listening to it over and over again, even years later.

You should listen to Norther - Death Unlimited, these guys did have a bit of early "good" Children of Bodom in them and even though the band veered off course and fell apart, their former frontman is on fire in Ensiferum and their band's music is pretty unique in its own right, even though a lot of Finnish MDM groups are percieved as kind of the same. That particular song is just ferocious.

Im from Finland and after watching your videos of wintersun i started to listen this band, all i can say is (perkele) this is good stuff,whoa!!! So complex and beautiful. Thankx :)

6:43 actually, just to correct, it is a choir consisting of multiple Nordic musicians for example Markus Toivonen from Ensiferum, Heri Joensen from Tyr and Mathias Nygård from Turisas. Epic.

I knew you would enjoy this one. If you want more details on how Jari made this song awesome with that choir watch their documentary on the making of The Forest Seasons. They have them in parts that they teased releasing weekly and they have the whole thing compiled together for a 30 or 40 minute video. Definitely worth the watch. I'm sure you know this album was crowdfunded via indie-gogo and they successfully met their goal and surpassed it with over €427,000. Idk if you can do a reaction video to that documentary and how it'll fit, but a must watch on your own time if you must

another masterpiece, Wintersun music is always so unusual,, unique mixtures of different genres which is used so brilliantly

I highly recommend Cattle Decapitation Kingdom of Tyrants. Sure you'll at least appreciate the lyrics and insane vocal range. Also hoping for some more igorrr. Cheval is great and has the vocalist of Cattle Decap. Or they recently posted a concert so maybe pick a song from that (they have time stamps)

I recommend Skeletonwitch - Bringers of Death. The video is very entertaining, you would enjoy it.

Suggestions for future videos: Battle Beast - Black Ninja or Wild Child(great W.A.S.P. cover & their female vocalist has voice that you need to hear).

The "folky stuff" you mentioned is definitely there (there are also some flutes e.g.). I loved it. And I love how they turned that melody into a badass guitar riff. ONLY thing I miss in this song is a solo (specially in the second half). Doesn't have to be anything to "virtuoso", but I feel the second half of the song becomes A LITTLE BIT monotonous (just my opinion guys). I've listened to the song about 5 times now and yes, I bought the album ;-)

React to Turisas - Piece By Piece. All the members of Turisas were a part of the choir in this song.

autumn is very good, but is so different... this entire album is blackish, but the next is just black (not old school)

Totally awesome, but it's not famous, but it should be, and i haven't seen a translated version of that song.

The folk influence probably comes from the lead singer being in Folk Metal pioneers Ensiferum before he founded Wintersun

The middle part reminds me of Summoning. This song is actually my least favourite Wintersun song so far and I'm always surprised to hear other people praising it so much. I still love it a lot but it just doesn't reach the par of the other Wintersun songs. If you like black metal, I'm sure you'll gonna adore the autumn song :)

It all comes down to personal taste. This one with loneliness are my two favs. For example I love Time and my kids loves Sons of Winter and Stars...it all comes down to personal preferences. No wrongs and no rights.

Patralgan No way. This song and Loneliness are the two masterpieces of the album. Before the album released I thought I was going to prefer the other two songs based on the previews of Awaken from the Dark Slumber and because I quite like Symphonic Black Metal. But I find this song and Loneliness to be two of their greats, up there with the likes of Sons of Winter and Stars, Time, Land of Snow and Sorrow etc. I was absolutely shocked to see that people thought this song was lacking. As mentioned, it all comes down to personal opinion, but that's mine.
