Here it’s been between 5-8 C, but next week going down to between 1-4 C. This is a great video seeing how well cared for and protected Chateau de Poulet really is and how the Poulet family is so cared for. I don’t think even a mouse could get away with stealing a grain with the Claw Crew about. By the way, I see the viewer numbers going up, and I just believe it will only get bigger and bigger my friend! Yay 😁 👍🙋‍♀️

Chad - I made it to the current video. What a beautiful journey this has been. I thank you and Remi and all the babies for a terrific, entertaining series. Any newbie to your channel should do the same. I quickly got to know all about you to understand what you are doing. Oh Red. He needs some blue coat. It’s a med that helps heal. The way you talked about harvesting your own wood. What a great idea. You have so much great wood right there. Thanks for all you shared and I am going to miss my binge but now I am current!!! Awesome! ❤️🐼💜

Totally agree with not adding extra light. It just burns your hens out sooner. I did that the first year I had chickens. The chickens I added after that first year produced three years longer than the first hens I had.

Nice. well I haven't done it and all my girls are slowing down already naturally. Gonna have to think about that this year. I'm rethinking the black leghorn breed too. Although I like having Elvis around the 7 hens just don't produce many eggs throughout the year, leghorns are supposed to be great layers though right. They stopped laying i think back in Aug or sept...don't know why.

@@HiddenSpringFarm someone said the chicken feed (that’s purchased) has started them to stop producing so I’m not sure what you feed your chickens but maybe that’s why ?

@@MNIU_ yes I’ve been following that story, but I don’t use any of those feeds. I think it’s just a natural decline due to the season, but these black leghorns aren’t laying much regardless…they’re days might be numbered.

Under no circumstances should you provide additional heat to the chickens. They adjust their body temperature accordingly. If the heater fails and it gets extremely cold they will die as they won't be able to adjust in time. Well done . Informative 👍👍👍. Thank you for sharing. Be safe🇨🇦

You are brilliant! Question: do you make money off the birds and rabbits? Do they pay you enough to cover the cost of the Chicken Castle? OR is this a labor of love? Because having your own food supply is good enough.

Rabbits are just for manure at this point but I may see if they’re is a market for bunnies as pets. We sell fresh eggs, fertile eggs, live ducklings & chicks, bundled firewood. We also run this as a farm stay. Might try mini piglets as pets too. BUT it doesn’t cover any costs not even the feed. The building and setup, equipment is what costs a lot, once you have it done it’s just feed and maintenance. Check out the side hustle video. We still work for a living too cause we have to pay for all this…will be a great retirement life though eh.

Awesome. Best to get breeds that have smaller type combs and wattles. We have Elvis and his Black Leghorn flock and their combs sometimes get frostbite.

I really like this video, it's very informative. I've wanted chickens for a while now and I have worried about keeping them warm in the winter and cool in the hot humid summer. I must say your chicken coop is sooo amazing and highly functional.

Glad it was helpful! There are some that even build an open air coop, mind you it might not get as cold as it does up here. As long as they can roost off the ground, stay dry and get out of the wind they're very easy to keep.
