Hatching Our Own Organic Meat Chickens

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Again this year we decided to raise our own fully organic meat chickens to fill our freezer. We wanted it to be as much of a self sufficient system as possible so we hatched out our own chicks. Started with 6 but they are getting too big so watch this video and find out what I'm going to do with them to make room in the brooder for the next batch. #meatchickens, #organicmeat #chickens

We're transforming this 90 acre property into a self reliant homestead and farm stay vacation rental. We're building infrastructure to accomodate future growth such as barns, duck house, 7 coop chicken house, water hydrants, planting an orchard, building a garden etc. Chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, barn cats and two old english sheepdogs make up our team here at the farm. Please follow along on our journey of transforming this place into something special.

I absolutely love this coop, but didn't realize all the work that went into building it. It's absolutely adorable. So amazing, thanks for sharing.

When I moved my chics from their tub out to their coup I stood and showed them the back yard the look in their little eyes made me think of how I would look at seeing heaven. WOW amazed and beautiful is the look they had . I love your chicken barn !

Yeah it's actually pretty incredible that they can go from hatch to walk in a minute and grow so fast in a matter of a few weeks they're chickens.

Hiya Chad and family 👋 All of your critters are so adorable and the kitties are hilarious 😍 ! What a fantastic set up ~ I'm dubbing you "Renaissance Man" 😄 You should carry a water bottle on those hot days. The Rabbitat ???🤣 👍 Hello to the Mrs and have a great day !

Thanks so much! yeah the rabbits need a more permanent home so I gotta come up with some kind of habitat. A lot of meat rabbit raisers keep them in cages, but I'm not keeping them for meat and want them to be a bit free. I'm working on a different kind of video where I take you guys along for my planning and designing steps to building, thought it might be fun for you folks to see where my head's at.

Well I chose to put the house in that spot because that's where the existing electrical was from the rotten coop. Worked out pretty well cause ur right it's like it fits right in there between the trees.

You can use that extra coop to isolate brooding hens or if you have to isolate for disease or injury rehabilitation.

Hey Chad, how’s it going? Your last video was a true story about homesteading and I appreciated that. Everything is not all rosy and full disclosure is not always given, which is why I appreciate your channel even more! You are the ideal self made farmer as you really do quality work and build from the get go structures that are logical and will last. I did not realize that chickens dig that deep. We are now into the 27degree C days for a while and then on for some cooler off/on rain showers again here out west. What a different summer from last year. Are you getting any of those horrible storms we see in the news? The videos are really well done 👍 and I look for updates every day. Makes me happy 😃 Stay cool 😎 I

Always look forward to your comments. My Darlin always asks me...Did Leona comment yet?...cause she wants to read them lol. KZreadrs often say that they're "Farming" full time, but yet they are youtubeing. I'm sure a "real" farmer has no time for the hours it takes for filming and the hours it takes for editing and the hours it takes for uploading. Most homesteaders have day jobs so it takes a lot of time to do all the things a homesteader must do daily. It's a chosen life that's for sure. That's why I say we are trying for a hybrid style...cause with a day job and youtubing a person would never have the time.
