    Hi guys! Ajax want to play a possession/positional total football, yet they managed to dominate second balls against Madrid like a gegenpressing team, let's see how this worked! Hi Piotr, another great analysis of a very important tactic. Winning the second ball and pressing when the ball is lost are two extremely potent off-the-ball moves when implemented properly. I am curious, what software do you use to draw the formations seen at 1:10 to 1:40?

    The recovery shape is awesome plus they don't chase around pointlessly. The wait for the ball drop point then sprint. The covering is good too. Plus dominate the aerial seems to be the key. They have great concentration. Teamwork is already world class but I know it is tiring to keep that level of concentration without stopping. Mentally fatigue will kicks in first than physicals.

    Piotr, whats the difference between a second strike, a false 9 and a number 10?

  • @georgerockey19

    @georgerockey19

    5 жыл бұрын

    I personally see the three roles as quite similar yet the main thing to do is what sets them apart. A second striker (I see this as a striker that's deeper) is meant to make runs past the main no. 9 into the space behind, as he hasn't been picking up by one of the CBs. The false 9 is someone who drops off both CBs, so they have a choice not to mark anyone or follow the false 9 and make space for wingers/midfielders, useful for a more possession based game. A number ten is more of a creator, not asked to move a whole lot or run about but to sit in the space and find through balls into players further ahead of him. As I said they are similar positions, but the main task in each role is how they differ. Hope this helps!

    As far as I can, I'll try to explain: A second striker is someone who plays most likely outside the box WITH a teammate who stays/plays in it. You can see this kind of player in a 2 striker-system (not so much used in the great teams nowadays). I think the most famous actually is Griezmann (who plays behind/next to Diego Costa/Morata). A false 9 is a striker who plays outside the box WITHOUT a teammate who stays/plays in it: here the wingers are the ones who come in. You can see it quite only in a particular 4-3-3 formation. Tadic against Real Madrid played as a false 9. A numer 10 is much more a philosophical concept: he's the skilled one, the man who makes the difference. He can be an offensive regista, a technical wing, a good runner or the one who plays between the lines. There are so many definition and possibilities that we need to think about it as a concept, an idea much more than a role. I hope I answered

  • @mandalorian4620

    @mandalorian4620

    5 жыл бұрын

    Number 10 is not a striker, it is an offensivd midfielder. A true 10 is the main playmaker and chance creator. False 9 is what Messi played for Barca before Suarez came, i.e. he was not completely at the front but kind of dropped off, essentially this type of striker's role is to create spaces, which either he can use or the wingers can run into. George explained perfectly what a second striker is. In essence a second striker is a false 9 with another striker that is more of a true 9 (he always tries to present himself in the penalty area: classic striker). A second striker makes sense if you prefer a classical striker to be the goal oriented vs having 2 wingers. An example for a second striker would be how Dybala sometimes played together with Higuain last season or how Müller sometimes played with Luca Toni and later Lewandowski with Ribery and Robben as wingers.
