    I can't tell for sure, but when you swing your left hand, is he reaching across his body to block with HIS left? That puts him in a bad spot because he is reaching across his centerline. He should block with the mirror side. In other words, you swing your left mitt, he blocks with his right hand, and vice versa. Not only is it closer, but then he isn't crossing his own centerline.
