I think a lot of people who already TRIED newest drivers are here looking for help, which is not to be found. Clearly, something has changed with the way Windows 11 calls to secondary monitor.

@@allexceed-8924 I had to roll back my nvidia drivers. Everything was fine until a Windows 11 update several days ago. Secondary monitor would not connect at all. Rolled back the Windows update and all was good again. Crazy, right?

@@Uthyrexe About three out of five times either my mouse or secondary monitor doesn't connect at start-up. Once again, this new cycle of problems started with recent Windows 11 update. I can unplug and re-plug my monitor and/or mouse to have them recognized, but it's a little annoying.

A DisplayPort to HDMI adapter ($12.97 at walmart) worked for me. I got a new gaming computer with Windows 11, and wasnt detecting my 2nd monitor. I also tried the uninstall/reinstall drivers.

Last week my I completed a number of driver updates, but for some reason, my dual monitors stopped working. Per your video, the selection @2:52 to update the driver did not work because my driver had already been updated. But I tried anyway, it said the driver was the latest, and then I re-plugged my Thunderbolt back into my laptop, and the dual monitors came on. Maybe selecting the driver update again was necessary to get my duals back online? I find computers have redundancies that require these things at times. Thanks, your video helped because I was going to take my new laptop into my computer repair shop, which probably would have cost me nearly $200.00.

So my MS Surface Pro 5 with Windows 11 (from eBay) does not detect my second monitor. It perceives it as a "USB Video Device", a.k.a. a camera. Please help! My monitor is a Dell E2014H.

I cant find the exact link for downloading the AMD Driver, can you drop it here?

my monitor works until I click, extend these displays as opposed to 'duplicate'. Then external monitor says 'no video input' Any advice?

Win11 takes us back 10 years. My wide screen curved from Sam simple disappeared. Tried everything and went back to Win10. 4 hours of drivers, searching for solutions and generally fixing something that was never broke until Microsoft came along… This video is no help.

unbelievable, just got my new laptop, connected ok and after restart my second monitor is not detected even though it is working fine. contemplating going back to Linux just after getting a new laptop, insane stuff

I did everything mentioned here, still no luck. Weird thing is that it used to work, now it doesn't. I have an HP laptop with a j5 docking station with two LG monitors connected through HDMI cables (in case anyone else has any other words of wisdom)

Nothing of what you describe works. All is up to date, no detection of second monitor (which works fine if used alone, cables all crossed checked with both monitors). No way to get them to work together. Win11

It worked at first but it swapped to my second monitor and wouldn't detect my main monitor

Hey, i'm getting a weird error on my notebook. I'm plugged into my TV through the HDMI and it worked for years and years. Today, my house had a little power surge (stuff of like seconds) while i was playing a game (Cyberpunk), which runs on medium graphics due to it not being the best notebook. After the power surge, my tv turned on, but it was like exhibiting the second screen on a 640x480 resolution in 6 bits, while my notebook is completely normal on a 1920x1080 resolution. Tried restarting the notebook, changed cables, nothing is helping, and now i'm seeing that, although it is showing the image on the second screen on a horrible resolution, it's not recognizing it. Anyone ever seen this before?

Anyone know how to fix my issue? I clicked "detect now monitor" after connecting my second monitor and now I have no display on either.

Yes. Windows 10, hope & assume this also solves it on 11. Update all the drivers, etc. What ended up working was: Uninstall and reinstall your display driver I’m going to walk you through a few steps to uninstall and reinstall your display driver. 1. Select Start, type device manager, and select Device Manager from the results. 2. Expand the Display adapters section, and right-click on your display adapter. Select Uninstall device. 3. Check the box next to Delete the driver software for this device and select Uninstall. 4. You may be asked to restart your computer at this stage. Make sure to write down the remaining instructions before you restart. 5. Open Device Manager again. 6. Expand the Display adapters section, and right-click on your display adapter. Select Update Driver. 7. Select Search automatically for update driver software and follow remaining installation instructions. 8. Go to settings à Display, click the 3rd monitor and click detect, and extend display to that monitor

so I need something to help me connect with my second monitor and im in windows 11 with only 1 hdmi port but a ton of usbs ... Anyone got any recommendations?

i updated the driver but it still dousent work the screen is on but its mirrored and i cant exstend when i go to display settings i also dont have the screen icons at the top. when i try to detect other display it still says no displays detected

If you are like me, none of these steps worked. so i went and bought a USB type C to HDMI extension and it worked. Try that guys.

This is a driver issue with Windows and Intel ...... Intel will update their graphics driver in advanced and won't read the 2nd monitor until Windows updates to Intels current update and it takes days sometimes... It's so horrible

Wait is it true? Is it recurring problem with mismanagement between Windows and Intel!?. I'm facing the problem with my Dell laptop Windows 11. When I connect my External Monitor. The display switches to it but laptop screen loses display. And now even after uninstalling drivers. It still doesn't work. Only detects external monitor.

@@mvkrx5802 Don't know if its with only Intel. I have an AMD Radeon and Nvidia graphics with windows 11 on a brand new top of the line $$$ laptop and it doesn't detect my second monitor. That monitor of course works fine with my old windows 10 el cheapo laptop. epic fail.

So I also have a problem with Windows 11 not detecting the second monitor or anything as a mater of fact that is connected with the HDM cable (yes, I tried other HDM cables that I knew worked 100%). So I tried what you suggested and in that first step it didn't detect the second monitor again and in the Device Manager part I don't even have the Display adapters part, like it's not there at all. Do you have any suggestions what to do in that case?

@@ctbeh1483 no? I have a second pc that has windows 11 and it has Display adaptors. And the guy in the video is also using Windows 11 and it also says it in the title. As a matter of fact, how do you even expect a pc to work without them?

Go to your BIOS and click on "Display", then change all to "HDMI". Hope it helps! This worked with me.😄

Where are you gonna plug it if your first display is plugged on the hdmi port on the graphic card... the second hdmi port is on the motherboard too

Wow this was SUPER ANNOYING!! SMF Thanks Windows 11, I otherwise really like Windows 11 and the new interface (and features). What worked for me was unplugging and re-plugging the power cord for my monitor that wasn't being recognized (it was my secondary monitor in the display settings). So until Windows actually fixes it that seems to be one fix, if it's not a driver issue. Someone else reported they had to update an audio driver.

I guess my New HP Victus just isnt gonna recognise my old Acer 185H, is it? EDIT: There IS a second HDMI outlet on the back of the Victus, so I plugged it in.... so far no love.

I think its planned obsolescence. I have old monitors that work fine on my super cheap windows 10 laptop, but my high end windows 11 laptop won't detect the same monitors anymore. It's a force to buy a new monitor.

Ummmmmm this is windows 10 not 11 only the begening is windows 11

It was working fine until the PC did an automatic update. Now it won't detect another display.
