Win with the inside bets in craps - 75% advantage!

Ойын-сауық

The inside numbers (5, 6, 8, 9) in craps have a 75% advantage over the 7. Yes!
There's 5 ways to roll each the 6 and 8, and 4 each to roll the 5 and 9. That's 18 ways to get paid. Of course, there's 6 ways to lose. That simple math shows you a 3:1 probability of winning on dice rolls that result in money changing hands (inside numbers or a 7)
That's great, if you can take advantage of it, and if the dice care about the math (they don't)
They don't come 3 then 1 ... if they did, we'd all be rich. But let's really dig in a bit and look a simple example that shows this math at work, and give you an idea or two of how you might be more aggressive (or passive) with the inside bets, given this information.

    Great video! I have been just trying to think of it as I need x+1 hits to be in profit, where x is the numbers placed. Then trying to determine how to balance numbers placed, bet vs bankroll, and number of rolls to be exposed and regress. I have been practicing the skill 66, press a unit inside on the first hit, and down to 22 after the 2nd hit. The headache now is that the count resets on the 22 I leave up as far as hits required to pay off the 22 I leave :)

  • @ProCraps

    @ProCraps

    2 жыл бұрын

    There are no “great strategies” … the dice have to match your bets. At the $300 level I play pretty conservatively b where I’m more likely to go out there with $66 inside or $64 across and just take one hit and turn my bets off. With 20% of your bankroll out there, don’t let it get hurt by being active too long

  • @GeorgeFromCy

    2 hits down is optimal for me. Across is also optimal for me. I agree that linear betting is something the casinos account for (ie same bet) So you’re either pressing your bets either biased pressing or each place 1 unit up) OR as the bets hit take them down to limit exposure. So one hit gives you 35 in profit plus say 25 limit in exposure. 2nd hit gives you 35 and another 25min limiting exposure. You have 60 left on the table and 70 in the rack (worse case scenario )

  • @markwojtulski74

    This seems like it may work good with $220 inside. One hit collect $70 and take that bet down. Next hit collect $70 and take that bet down. Now, take the remaining two bets and spread them out inside ($110 inside) may have to drop $5-$10 bucks if you hit on the 6 and 8 earlier. Now you have $110 inside and a small profit in your rack along with your original investment. Now PowerPress and Collect your way to bigger profits!

    What you're describing there is the "Butterburg" system. Bet across. On each hit, pull the bet. After 2 you can pull it all. After 3, you're guaranteed a profit. Love that system, especially from the Don't. El Toro does something similar where he bets across and after a hit, he takes the winnings, the bet, and the sister number down. 2 Hits an he's out. It's how he plays the random shooters.

    If you go inside for 3 hits, depending on your bet size, after the 2nd hit, take your change and come through the DC. $110 Inside, they all pay $35. After that 2nd hit, you'd have 2 greens and 2 reds in the rack. Throw $10 into the DC. When it travels and you get paid again, pull your inside bets down and put the other reds ($20) on as odds to that DC bet. Use your change to make an extra quarter if you can.

    John, listening to your fireside craps podcast episodes on a long flight today. They are great. I have a question about a comment you made in episode 6 I believe with the math professor. You made a statement and he agreed that if you are a place bettor, it is better to be off on the come out. Can you elaborate? I typically am always working until I come down from a shooter or decide to ride it out etc.

  • @ProCraps

    @ProCraps

    9 ай бұрын

    The reason is the possibility (and frequency) of multiple come out 7's. A come out roll, like any other roll has a 1/6 chance to show a 7 and take your money. But unlike working the puck on/off, you can go up for your $64 across (or whatever) again and again and again and just get torched by one of those runs. IMO, not worth it, unless you make a pact with yourself to only suffer one CO7 and then not go back up until a point is set. Then, you're probably fine, but that's the main reason.

    Thanks, John. Great video. The other thing I thought you might want to add to this type of discussion at the beginning where you describe the 75% is to put in another 12 black chips in the mix to show that although you have a 3 to 1 win/loss advantage, that another 2 out of 6 rolls result in no action.

  • @ProCraps

    @ProCraps

    2 жыл бұрын

    The 3 to 1 advantage is only relevant on money changing decisions. When you calculate probability like this you throw out all of the options that don't matter and you just look at outcomes that pay you or take your money, and on THOSE you have the 3:1 kicker. That's the confusing part about all these calculations and i have a tough time making it super clear. The "odds" of rolling an inside number takes into account all 36 combinations, but the "probability" of a win vs a loss only takes into account the winning and losing combinations.

  • @PYANAGAWA1

    @PYANAGAWA1

    John, yes. I understand. Was trying to add a dimension so the new viewers who would benefit from your video could put the 1 of 6 rolls being a 7 understanding that 1 of 3 rolls is not a money decision. I am aware of the $105 collection on 3 non-7 rolls and never considered pressing but makes sense since it marginally increases payout since I’m gonna leave up the $110 bets for 3 rolls. Will try the press strategy end of month when I am back in Vegas. Thanks!!

    @@PYANAGAWA1 It's only marginal, but press-press-collect is better than 3 collects. But you know ... only if those 3 wins come ahead of Andre the Giant I like to do a $22 inside press 3 times from the $110 and then pull it all down. You end up with $106 in profit if you can survive.

    with Inside #'s covered, 75% chance of getting 1 hit before a PSO. with Across #'s covered, 80% chance of getting 1 hit before a PSO. with both Across #'s and C&E bet up, 83.3% chance of getting 1 hit before a PSO. take that 1 hit, then repress to a smaller bet and play with house money.

    I am a huge fan of the inside #'s and currently prefer to have 66 inside vs 64 across....but since the table I will be playing is a roll to win and the buys are paid on win and bets pay to the penny. I am really thinking I may be "better off" 64 across and catching extra hits. Granted it takes more hits to pay off but might be the same number of rolls or less in specific instances. I have also thought about going evens with $66. Am I overthinking it?

  • @ProCraps

    I've come around to that way of thinking as well. $64 across, same bet each number 1 time and then hammer press them until you hit a goal. I'm tired of missing out on the outsides.

    Essentially, yes. But you're describing a miracle there of 3 9's hitting before a 7 ... in actuality, you're lucky to get 3 hits from those bets as a group, let alone one of them. Look at the inside bets as ONE bet in totality. You can press one of them by a lot or all of them a little bit.

    Great video John. This is essentially my strategy. The one thing that you didn't discuss are the wasted rolls (2, 3, 4, 10, etc). For this reason, I do 1 of 2 things typically. Either do "3 rolls" (not 3 hits) or play additional $10 or $15 field bet so that I always cash. With the field bet I do three rolls, and hopefully collect on all. Then I wait out the roll for resolution.

    I'm a big fan of putting my change into the field. For example, $110 inside, all bets pay $35. I press each one of them 1 unit ($22 inside press) and then put $10 in the field and rack $3. Same on rolls 2 and 3 and then you can pull down about $100 and maybe a field win.
