    I have both. Head Graphene 36p Extreme MP and clash tour (my main racket is the Pure Aero 2019) Extreme Mp is a dream from the baseline. I bought it as an arm friendly alternate to the aero and it didn't disappoint. The only issue being it's not as stable. Also with the extreme I don't volley as well as the others. Current experimenting with the adding weight at 12 to increase stability. Clash has been interesting ride, a racket I just can't dial in but I don't want to sell as well because of the way it feels. I have now a leather grip on it and have gone down in string tension at around 44lbs with full poly and I am starting to get the hang of it but still has these hot spots where the ball just flies if you don't hit through the ball with lots of spin( for reference I play at 55 lbs on both aero and extreme Mp). In short. Both are awesome racket and you can't go wrong with either. I would recommend Extreme MP though if U can only get one as it's a very easy racket to get going with. Note: You do need to hit with a lot of top spin with both these rackets otherwise the ball just flies !

    Very interesting. My buddy and I both got very into tennis about two years ago. A year ago we decided to join a club and invest in our first “real” racquets. He ended up going with the Extreme and I went with the Clash. They’ve turned out to be excellent game development racquets. We play 5-6 times a week and neither of us has had arm issues. Sometimes we switch racquets and I can immediately feel the accuracy and power that are missing from my Clash. I love the pocketing feel of the Clash and it’s been an excellent tool to learn with, but, now that I have a pretty consistent groundstroke, I think I’m going to look for something a little stiffer. Probably still a 100sq/in head, but something that’ll help me target the corners with more reliability.

    i takes me about 1 week to adjust using the wilson clash, it has that different sensation, and you need to know that clash technology only work in low tension string, where low tension string often makes the ball fly away, but overall it is really worth the hype, and i have no arm issue hitting a long period of game with wilson clash, and in my opinion it does give a pretty massive spin.

    Good question. I usually like racquets with RA's between 62-67. That said, I don't think RA is the best indicator. Racquets can flex differently in the throat than they do in the hoop. I think vibration frequency is a better indicator for feel. Wilson started talking about vibration frequency more when they initially released the Clash, but hype has died down. Vibration frequency takes into account more factors like flex, beam and weight. I like racquets with vibration frequencies around 139hz.

    Becket, great review as usual..... I’m an intermediate senior ( 3.5-4.0)...play with the Pure Strike 3rd gen 16x19.... thinking of giving the Clash a try.. I’ve had a history of shoulder problems and a bit of wrist and elbow issues at times. I manage to work my way through, however.... Is the Clash for real? No pros use it... I do know a 5.0 player who uses the Clash 100, and loves it. I string all of my rackets with VS gut in mains; rpm blast crosses at 55 gut and 52 poly . Would this work in a clash? ( I’m assuming you would rec clash pro over the 100).... Some stringers have told me that you must string a clash at low tensions in order for the technology to work..??.... So, would gut at 48 and blast at 45 be appropriate for the clash? Thanks, John

  • @CourtsideSportsLTD

    @CourtsideSportsLTD

    Hi John, i think the reason no pro's use the Clash is because the tech creates a lot on flex on impact. As lower ball speeds, this is great for comfort, however at higher ball speeds, the significant flex on impact causes unpredictability on contact. I think the Clash is for real, it feel totally different than anything else on the market. I don't the low tension thing is necessary, that seems to apply more for the Luxilon Smart string that was launched alongside the Clash. I would string you normal setup and start slowly moving down in tension until you lose too much control

    I change my tension every string job these days depending on home I've been feeling about my game. Feeling confident? I string looser. Feeling tight? I string tighter to force myself to swing big. I play with so many different racquets and string setups these days that I'm more interested in trying new things than finding a "perfect" setup. That said, I do think the Clash plays under 48lbs

    @@dman030 Tough one... You will probably be losing too much forgiveness if you go to a Blade 98, but I worry you'll loose too much consistency in the string bed if you go Clash 100. I would look at the Blade 104 (you'll want to add weight), the stiffness is less than the PD's, but you'll like the extra length and large, consistent head size. The Gravity Tour or Speed MP are also ones to check out, solid 100's with consistent stringbeds and lower RA's.

  • @CourtsideSportsLTD

    @CourtsideSportsLTD

    I found the 98 to play a bit stiffer than 100, sort of losing the magical Clash feel. It does feel more consistent and less bendy as a result. Since you lose a bit of the essential 'Clashness,' I don't see a huge reason to go Clash 98 because I think there are better 98's. I don't really think the 98 gains enough control for its loss in feel, so I prefer the Pro. Have you tried the Clash 100 before? I think it's one of the best options for most players so long as you aren't facing big enough hitters to cause instability issues (NTRP 4.5ish depending on your region)

  • @CourtsideSportsLTD

    Tension is all personal preference. I believe the Head racquets are only rated to 57lbs, so if it breaks and they find you strung higher than that, you can't claim warranty. That said, I've never seen a racquet break due to higher tensions. I string as low as I can control because I like the ball pocketing feel.

    I don’t have modern ground strokes and I tend to hit a flatter ball. I’m currently playing with a Pro Staff 97 CV. I like it but I’m looking for something a little more forgiving. You really have to be precise with that racquet and I’m getting older and less mobile. I’m considering the Clash 100 tour, the Wilson Ultra 100 or the Yonex ezone 100. Three options: 1. Increase tension by 3-5lbs 2. Chose a string with a thicker gauge 3. Change string material (depends on what you are using now) The goal is to lower the launch angle caused by the open string pattern. Very open string patterns accentuate the trampoline effect. The 3 strategies above will decrease the trampoline effect.
