Great video. Landberg classic I would say. Out of your experience which band (schluter vs latecrete vs …) is the thinest one (most pliable) in regard to the corners and bands overlapping, hence creating small build up? Thanks in advance. 👊

Kerdi banding and kerdi it def thinner. I like latty membranes better tho. they stay down flatter. Kerdi win on holding tight creases on corners since its thinner.

It looks like you got thinset on the studs to get the foam board level/plumb, is this an approved step by Laticrete? I know Schluter allows that method for their foam board but I've been wondering specifically about this for the hydro ban board. I'm about dead set on using hydro ban and being able to float the walls with thinset would be by far the easiest solution for my out of plumb walls.

I've used it for a long time, great product, all the tile backer foam boards are essentially the same. You install it the exact same way he's installing the board above. Thing is, Home Depot used to carry GoBoard around here, but they haven't had any of the 1/2" in stock for many months.

Asking if this will ever leak? I doubt it will leak, but only time will tell. I tend to use black paper, then backerboard and then paint it with redguard and tape all seams with mesh tape. 12 years later, still no cracking, separation or leaks. I will stick to what i know works 😅😅 Or go back to the good ol days of scratch and float! GG!

But seriously this foam board really is a nice lightweight material and to cut it with a razor knife is 🧈...100% waterproof!! hardi board is water resistant still will absorb water if not painted the correct mill thickness.....not saying I wouldn't do it that way again but I believe I'm sold on FOAM!!😁
