I'm happy that you get that much out of watching this channel, sounds like you lived a pretty good life if you got to work on cars with a good friend
A friend and myself painted the Mrs. Geico boat a few times. We saw this bike while down in Florida at the boating facility, buffing and putting the final touches on the boat. I was told then that someone had been allowed to drive the bike, ran it out of fuel and put regular pump gas in it. The engine overheated and he had to be towed back to the shop. That was back in 2019. So that bike was screwed up long before your friend got it. My buddy actually has 2 of the Mrs. Geico watches also. It was part of the deal for us painting the boat.
Sean literally had the guy who originally worked on/tuned the bike walk up to him when it was delivered. The guy even offered to buy it and/or work on it and Sean said "thanks but I'm taking it to my guy who has never seen it before." We never heard anything about that guy after that. Craig can do wonders but Sean had THE guy within the first 10 minutes of the bike being delivered to his facilities and said nope.

You sir are one of the best mechanics I've ever seen !! Great job !
“Stare at the elbows” Damn Craig teaching me about bikes and life. Lots of respect from Canada !
Craig: it doesn't have to go to a starter shop to switch that button. That five-sided section is literally the starter solenoid. All that button does is push directly on the solenoid plunger, bypassing the electromagnet that would usually thrust it forward. Stick the output shaft into a hole in your bench or simply open the jaws on a bench vise, letting the shaft extend while supporting the starter with that cover pointing straight up. That part is important until you know how those things Nippon Denso starters are built. Keeping it cap-up prevents you from loosing a ball bearing and one (possibly two) springs. Remove the screws from the corner of the cap, holding slight pressure to the cap (spring, remember?). Lift the cap and remove. Install the new cap. This is literally a three-minute panel swap. While you have the starter solenoid open, inspect the two contacts (the two weird-shaped copper contacts) for pitting and scarring; polish if necessary) and the contact disk mounted around the plunger (again, polish if necessary). The only failures for Nippon Denso starters are these contacts and eventually wearing out the brushes. Things are immortal. In fact, you could probably polish the armature and commutator in the "bad" one, slap in a new brush rack, and your grandkids will be passing it on to their own kids.
@JamesRook

Yup. These things have been around forever. If you're old school like me, there's even a little lever version for the solenoid on shovels. Or go really old old school and use a bent hacksaw blade.

@NBSV1
Ай бұрын
Yep. They keep fiddling with stuff to try and get it running as it is. First thing they really should do is pull the engine and rebuild it with lower compression and a better setup for the supercharger. Doubtful it’d make the power that was sometimes claimed, but would at least make it not need race fuel to barely work.

The third injector is likely for two reasons; 1. They used smaller injectors on the heads to get good drivability and fuel control and the third injector for additional fuel under boost. 2. Being pre supercharger it acts as an air cooling agent when injected into the roots/screws due to the absence of a cooler.
You guys have a Huge amount of patience. I am not a wrench turner for all the very reasons you ran into. My hats off to you. I am interested is seeing your final results.

Sometimes, he would get frustrsted and then it was time for a break. But he loved the challenge, and never gave up, unless the client decided it was not worth his money. It was fun. I learned a lot. That starter button is a simple install, I have one on my 1340 EVO has been on there for 20 years. It just replaces the cover. We used to just drill a hole in the cover and drive a screwdriver in it to start if a bike had wiring issues, or steal them.

The injector on the super charger. My guess from having built a couple supercharged projects. Engine runs normally on the injectors in the engine. The injector in the supercharger adds the needed extra fueling for conditions when the engine is getting boost. Probably regulated by a built in map sensor. Bolt on..... no tuning required to the engine fueling.

Perfect spoof of Paul senior
3:22 had me gigglin, the cherry blossoms are a great touch
2 potential answers on the 3rd injector: The first and more likely IMO is that supercharger setup was meant to be added to an existing engine, and they were adding a provision for extra fuel with some sort of auxiliary fuel controller that was only controlling the 3rd injector and adding enough fuel to compensate for the additional air from the supercharger so they could have a somewhat plug and play system, although not optimal, that worked on basically anything that supercharger could bolt to. The second possible answer is that the further upstream injector is not only adding fuel but cooling the intake charge via evaporative cooling from the fuel being atomized further upstream, or possibly some combination of both.
13:56 Adjustable throttle position sensors like that usually have metal sleeves in the adjustment holes so that when you are tightening down the bolts it gives it something to clamp to instead of just the compressible plastic. I imagine that is why it keeps moving.
You are one great mechanic sir. Good job. And god bless you and your family. It's running better than when Sean had it driving.
the segue to the fishing game ad was **
The fishing transition was Fantastically done!
Just had to stop the video to say these two working together are gold 😅 thanks guys from a lifetime time subscriber 👍
It's hilarious to me to see a bike from OCC being repaired after it really wasn't driven. We look about the same age cause I too remember the original American Chopper Discovery shows. Built for show and not go, I am not surprised in the slightest and kinda always knew that I think.
I'm hereby a fan of Craig. This was one entertaining episode! Thanks to all involved, you made my day.
Very honest and to the point, Thanks!
How did I not know about this fuel injector tool!! I have been saying for years something like this need to be made! Thank you Craig I would have never found out about it had you not shown it.

Yeah, I'm going to have to find this one. They make expensive 4 or more injector cycle/clean systems but this one is pretty simple. I made a setup of my own to cycle the injector and spray cleaner but it's a pain to swap injectors and the cleaner spray tube wants to pop out of the rubber hose it's feeding into.
I don't know anything about that specific blower but roots style blowers build heat and need lubrication to stay cool which means they need fuel injected above them through either a carburetor or some sort of fuel injection system either mechanical or electrical injection. Screw blowers, do not create as much heat and therefore do not require fuel injected before them. Same with centricles superchargers not needing fuel to keep them cool. I have an 871 Roots blower on top of a 454 with electronic fuel injection on each cylinder. But I run two injectors above the 871 to keep it cool so it doesn't eat itself up. They inject minimal fuel just enough to keep my temperature just above ambient. When I run alcohol or e85, The blower will actually build ice at the bottom of it as the alcohol expands and cools the blower. I tend to dial back the injectors on top of the blower when that starts happening.
i dont know nothing about about bikes but i enjoyed watching this video alot more than i ever thought i would.👍
The Miss Geico turbine boats were incredible engineering and performing marvels, it's kind of sacrilegious to build a pos like that and have it tied to the Miss Geico name in any way. If the Miss Geico race team had built this bike, it would go 200+ mph, and not be a living room ornament.
I know nothing about motorcycles, and this is one of my most favorite KZread channels
I've been binging a lot of your videos lately. Looking forward to the follow up from the carbon'd out, 260 HP Harley.
11:52 a Nice Clockwise Swirl will kick it out with a shake of a leg!!!😂
Love the front wheel abs system
Thank you Sean for bringing this awesome team together. These are good days.
Some positive displacement blowers need fuel running through them to keep them cool and to lubricate the rotors but mostly to cool your boost charge
Wanted one of these custom so called "choppers" from OCC back in the day badly! So glad I never pulled the trigger. Can ride em, or give em away for that matter.... Loved the show though, especially the early years before the producers wreckedit.
"Man, it'd be so awesome to work on one of those bikes. *raspberry*. " That killed me. Love the video!
I need the follow up asap! I'm beyond invested. Amazing work as usual!
Dope!! Craig, I wish you were here in my country man hahah
I’m keen to see your next instalment of this adventure
