This is so beautiful. My mom, an amazing pianist since an early age was in her final days and hardly responsive. She was always a bit critical of classical guitar - but I played this for her on headphones and her enjoyment and approval bringing a peaceful state I will always cherish.
I listen and play this piece everyday!! So nice to just close my eyes and let my heart and fingers do all the talking😎✌
I've lost count of the number of times I've heard this piece, its a definite feel good melody, been superbly performed.
Addicted to this.👏
So soft to my soul
Masterpiece. Thank You.
One of a handful of songs that makes my eyes water up. Absolutely beautiful song with wonderful lyrics.
I'm almost embarrassed to say how many times I've watched and listened to this video. I even purchased the song via iTunes. A wonderful arrangement that is masterfully played.

Sooo beautiful!
A very beautiful song
Brilliant!
Scott’s arrangement for classical guitar of “Wild Mtn. Thyme” is the go to version of this piece of Irish/Scottish music. The song dates back to the latter half of the 1700s. You can find Scott’s arrangement on the internet if you search around. I got it from Elite Guitarist, and I also use their video tutorial to learn it. It is a seriously beautiful song, and Scott’s arrangement and his virtuosity on the guitar are unmatched.

I also found sheets from this piece but it's different from what he is playing. Does Elite Guitarist have a version that sound the same like in this video?

@@andrzejmnich1285 I changed his sheet music to be what he's doing. It's great for your ear to do that. My guess is over the years it evolved into what it is here. Which is slightly different than the notation.
wonderful
Superb arrangement
That was perfectly beautiful.
so nice! thanks.
Todo muy bien. Interpretación, guitarra, obra.
A guitar that excells in both modern and old music...
It's all about feeling good !
The best I`ve heard! Wonderful, full of feeling! A master of his instrument!
ole que bonito...
Inquestionável tamanha virtuose, portanto segue meu agradecimento por proporcionar uma audição agradável. Grande abraço.
So gorgeous! And I think I need one of those compression sleeve thingies. Perhaps you can talk about them as some of us are prone this way. It can make you feel so lost.
Beautiful basetone.
I'm looking for it too!
Wow
It is so nice😌😌😌
Magnífica sonoridade
Scott is a virtuoso!!

OMG this guitar sounds so beatiful that it hurts!!!!!!
Good playing.
Thanks Scott :-)
Buena guitarra Buenas manos

Scot plays this Scots tune superbly well.
Would love to find this score. Could never play it like this in a million years though. I love this song and folk music and the classical guitar together played like this just lovely. So soft '

I don't know how this came up with the name, "Murder Streak". I did not enter it.
Astounding. THANK YOU.
Nice
He's come a long way from his Tenacious D days. Oh wait... But seriously, Maestro Tennant can do no wrong on those 19 frets. I haven't gone through his Pumping Nylon but intend to dive in soon.
its amazing how he plays! and no foot stool or ergo play! !?!
It could strange but the first notes (small intro before the main theme) sound exactly like the "Hero of the Day" by Metallica
Can someone tell me how to change the name that keeps appearing when I post something? It is creating a name for me & I do not like the name it selected.
Excellent tune, anyone know where I can find a decent tab or sheet for this?
@cfmill74

GSP has it but it's way off from this performance. You'll have to make many changes, not playing notes, adding chords and notes. Also changing the rhythm in some places. I'm not sure if the publisher made mistakes or Scott's version here developed as time went on after publication.
🎸🎶🎵👍!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Superb, of course. Can anyone tell what guitar support Scott Tennant is using?

Musically, beautifully mastered! But really? Playing the D on the second string (third finger) and the G on the sixth string (fourth finger) Whoa! What a stretch! You must have played basketball in HS. Amazing! Me? No can do. Had to re-finger it slightly but still maintained the musicality. Bravo Scott! Killer!
Merveilleux player, mais comment fait-il pour tenir sa guitare ???
That guitar sound awesome. It help that Maestro Scott Tennant is playing it. How do you recieve the designation of "Maestro" anyway?

You must have a Mistress!
♪♫♥♫
@Hundredcrackvids. He is playing the guitar correctly. For classical guitar arrangements when you are playing the bass line and melody your fingers must be able to stretch. Its almost impossible to do so playing the guitar resting
what's the hurry?
Does anyone know why he holds the guitar like that, without resting it on the thigh properly? I feel like it's a lot of stress to do that.

When you have a fat stomach it's hard to hold a guitar in the proper position. Being a big guy myself I have struggled with trying to hold the guitar as I was taught. So I can completely relate.

There's nothing whatsoever proper or improper about holding a guitar. Either you're playing the right notes at the right time with the right amount of force or you're not. Classical guitars don't weigh anything. I like to just tuck mine up under my arm the way many Mexican troubadours do. At 6'4", that's very comfortable with my long arms.
@tobims2

of course, everyone can, in general, hold the guitar as he or she wants to. But there is a good reason to do so like the "usual" classical guitarist does (between the legs): the guitar corpus is easily fixed and both hands are free to move forward and back. Holding the guitar like Scott Tennant is doing (and I am, too, as it is more comfortable for me), the guitar has to be fixed with your right arm and/or your left hand and you are not that "flexible" or "free" while moving on the fretboard. Another point is: the angle of the guitar/fretboard to your left hand. If it is steeper, it fits more to the angle of your left hand (for example index finger for a barree) and you don't have to rotate your hand/wrist that much while moving on the fretboard. The more horizontal the guitar lies, the more you have to twist your wrist. But: see Glenn Gould how he used to play the piano, kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z4d81tuAk5vWls4.html which is way away from what is tought to sit...
Is this done in standard tuning? Thanks!

I can only endorse JB's comment. What else is there to be said!
tabs?
Beautifully played but. .. it needs a slower tempo. Not faster than 76bpm. Try it, you'll like it.
Bien! Pero esa guitarra merecía una obra más grande.

... are you ever tired to breath - always the same movements.... ? ...
12 years hence, Mr. Tennant must be thrilled by the thousands of musicians who play his wonderful arrangement. Oh that guitar is itself, rather dull. Today's off the shelf Cordoba guitars sound much better.
This guy's BMI must be horrific...
This is a Scottish song , not Irish
You lied scott , it's not classical , it's irish or scottish flavored neo-classical. next time you lie , yer fired.

The tune is an old Scottish air called the Braes o' Balquidder. A brae is a Scots word for a hillside. Balquidder is a village in Perthshire.
'making it his own' distorts the phrasing and timing. the song loses its beauty in favor of his imposing his technique on the song.

But when there are so many traditional versions, that shouldn't matter too much.
Bit quicker... bit slower... this is why every classical guitar piece sounds the same nowadays. Anyone who's heard this song before hear that the heart of it is missing. A really bad rendition by someone who should know better.
Love the music and love the guitar.
