“The only REAL punch, is the Mega Upper. The one you use in Marvel vs. Capcom, it’s like the Shoryuken.” Me personally wished that Mega Man had his jab a 1,2 punch then kick. However, using the Mega Buster is fine. I would say that Sakurai referenced Ryu since the Mega Upper is inspired by the Shoryuken.

Mega Man was the best part of this Direct when I saw this 5 years ago. 3 years later, most of us are hyped for Banjo-Kazooie and we’re waiting for Hero to be released.

+Sergio Townsend if you ask me, considering that time flies by fast and it really doesn't take long for things to change a whole lot, nostalgia can be felt in almost any amount of time (the earliest would be about a year from my experience) especially if you feel nostalgia for a really nice time and what's going on right now just doesn't quite compare.

Holy cow the knockback on megaman's metal blade was so much in this direct

For the 3ds since everyone has their own screen, they should allow everyone the adjust the camera to their liking. Like P1 could want to have the camera a bit closer to his character, and P2 may want to have it as default. Anyone agree?

I think it's such a cool feature that the 3DS maps focus on handheld games and Wii U maps focus on home console games. It really adds to their differences, and makes the maps more interesting for the people who have only ever owned the handheld devices like me.

It's a bit disappointing that the stages are going to be different on the different versions. I'm sure both will have great stages, but now this means I would have to get both to play on them all, and also because some of my favorite games are on consoles and so I won't get to paly on those stages if I only buy the 3DS one. :c

1:23 , 3:18 , There's two differences from Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and 5:27 , from Super Smash Bros. Melee.

If you hear closely at the 4 player matches on the 3DS version at the beginning of the vid. (1:35-ish) you can here the music for battle field, spirit tracks, gurdo valley, and Mario 3D Land

I came back to this video after playing the Wii U version for a bit, and I've noticed Mega Man's Leaf Shield move is slower and takes more time than the one shown here....well, the game _was_ in development after all.

2:07 - 2:27 Considering Sakurai took time out of the Nintendo Developer Direct to mention how Samus has been changed visual-wise, I really hope she receives a change in attacks similar to Bowser. What I mean by this, is that Samus is very quick and agile in the Metroid games, yet she has felt slow and clunky in Smash Bros when you compare her in Smash, to the main Metroid games. Give her an actual fast fall that at least doubles her fall speed, since she was very vulnerable in the air on stages like Final Destination. Improve her grapple, it is nearly useless aside from her Z-Air, which I hope remains the same from Brawl. Give her bombs the ability to damage an enemy upon physical contact as opposed to timers like in Brawl, that greatly diminished their usefulness. Allow Samus to crawl by quickly turning into and out of the Morph Ball, she does this in the 2D games. Her up smash has been very unreliable since the first few attacks push the enemy away, knocking them out of range of the attack, leaving Samus vulnerable. Not to mention, only the fourth of the four hits actually launches enemies. Giving Samus' up smash a vacuum effect like Ganondorf's down smash, where if you get hit by one of the hits, you're going to be stuck in the attack until the end. Maybe make this attack escapable like Pikachu's down smash if you know what to do. The only other useful change I can think of, is allow Samus to charge her charge beam in the air like Donkey Kong or Mewtwo/Lucario could. One last thing, don't force players who want to play as Power Suit(PS) Samus to switch to Zero Suit(ZS) Samus when PS Samus players use their Final Smash. Giving ZS Samus a better Final Smash would be nice too(if she's in the game that is). If Samus was going to be changed, other than moving faster overall, these are the changes I think are necessary, since Samus is so nimble in Other M, the version their going for(hopefully the personality doesn't carry over too, but that's just me). If anyone can think of any other useful moveset changes or just constructive feedback(I feel like I'm asking a bit too much with that last one knowing KZread), feel free to answer back. Samus is my favorite Nintendo character and favorite video game character period. In Brawl no one could take her seriously in her Power Suit with all the nerfs from Melee, which is a load of crap. Samus is nearly defenseless outside of her suit, she admits this herself in Zero Mission along with her useless emergency pistol. I want my favorite character to make a glorious comeback in Smash 4, especially considering how unsure Other M left the franchise, anything at this point is a godsend. Keep up the good work Sakurai, I know you won't let us down!!!

Coming from the year 2021 AD, Mii fighters are now already reality in this game and SSBU.

I hope that individual caracter target smashes, race to the finish and board the platforms return and im so hyped of this game!

Yeah it is a bummer. But At least we will be getting the 3DS version this year. I'm ok with waiting as long as they don't screw up the game. Keep it closer to melee vs brawl. No story needed, Ain't why people play the game. x]

Every time I witness gameplay of this game,I thirst to see more of it.

0:56 Mario stays in his waiting animation when Bowser does his side special.

Just seeing Smash Ultimate and then this, Sakurai seems to have more emotion in the Ultimate directs... like if he enjoys the Ultimate version more than this...

This game will never be as good as smash bros ultimate. But it is fun to go back and look at old videos

This direct had me feeling some type of way last year.

I miss these days I had something to look forward to and be excited for

IMO, need "skins" Like instead of a Doctor Mario character, let it be one of his other skins and he just shoots out pills. Technically Peach does this with Daisy. But, we could probably see some fun ideas. Doctor Mario, other Samus suits, etc

It's the new edition of the Battlefield stage. The floating islands are simply cosmetic, and don't really have anything to do with any other Nintendo games.

Ghirahim would be an awesome character in SSB he has so many possibilities for him like his final smash and other attacks. I think he would be super unique. Like this comment if you think so too!
