From what I get from that is, she wishes she could have done something to protect her dad, and she feels a bit responsible for what happen since she literally couldn't do anything. She has a strong mind, and a strong personality, she's really holding her family together.

The video of her telling her mom she would protect her just broke my heart. Kids have surprisingly good memories sometimes and in this case it really sucks. She will always remember that day of her father dying right in front of her even subconsciously.

She must be terrified of losing her mother too. I remember being little and my dog dying one night, my parents wouldn’t tell me how. So I slept in my parents bed every night for two years to make sure they were safe and that whatever got my dog didn’t get them too. I was constantly on edge at night for too many years. It’s led to insomnia in adulthood. I hope the little girl has a happy and peaceful life from now on.

Furthermore, why would the killer make sure the ex-wife's kids weren't in the car before murdering him but not ensure his current wife's children weren't in the car before the murder took place?

I know it sounds heartless but NEVER get out of the car even if there is someone or something blocking the road. Poor girl, no kid should ever witness their dad being killed right in front of their eyes.

Only people with experiance in bad areas will know this. It's a basic sign of a planned ambush. At best it would've just been a robbery. It's also why I never park close enough to vehicles at lights to allow myself to be boxed in. TBF, this dude likely grew up in the 'burbs so he didn't know any of this.

She will eventually, but the trauma will never go away. In fact with this trauma she has, and with the way she's acting. It might lead her to becoming part of the military or a cop; while she might have certain attachment issues in the future.

Someone who knew he would be traveling back home after dropping off his twins from his first marriage. His wife said whoever did it knew he would stop and move the tire to ensure no one was hurt.

He was such a happy looking man. His little girl saying those things to her mother is sad and leaves me speechless. She definitely is still affected.

Imagine the pain the mother is going through right now, She lost her husband, and her daughter is going through a rough repeating memory of her Dad dying. Condolences to the family, I hope the family gets the justice they deserve.

I'm 52 with an awful short term memory but, I can _still_ remember wearing diapers and short dresses that didn't cover my bottom and crawling on the floor and being carried EVERYWHERE. If she remembers, I believe it.

A child's memory is the clearest, there is not much there expect the want to learn and experience. Sadly these experiences can be heartbreaking and traumatic but no matter how old we get or how far we try to push it down. They will always be our clearst memories. The way this little girl spoke made me have chills and I'm still feeling pain from it. At two her brain has already dealt with something that she has had to process and see her self as a "protector" for mom instead of being bed ridden like most people would be after not only losing their father but watching it happen also... makes me angry, very angry.😤

Is the child from his 1st marriage? Yes it IS most likely someone that knows him. Either ex, or a disgruntled co-worker, seems most plausible. Why does the ex need a copy of the death certificate? The cops should look into her financial insurance records to see if there is a policy taken out before their divorce. The wife is suspect as well, if she has anything to hide financially. It is horrible to look at people you "love" and wonder if you ever "knew" them at all. The child will NOT forget what she experienced. She needs some play therapy NOW, to enable her to start to process her emotions. The longer the mom waits, the more damage to that child.

Yes... asking for a death certificate usually means someone is seeking to collect on a life insurance claim if there is one to claim. I'm so sorry for this family. I just lost my husband recently, and the ex ended up getting all of his life insurance policies. We weren't married long, so he didn't get a chance to switch things over. All the ex had to do was get a death certificate, and she got everything.

If he and his ex had children together, depending on their custody agreement (if they had to make decisions together, like getting passports for the kids, for example) she would need a copy of his death certificate. Needing it for insurance or social security is common as well. I don’t think it’s an odd thing to request if she has minor children with him. I think it’s odder that the wife feels some sort of way about it, especially if he has children with his ex. It comes off as if she’s only considering her kids and not all of his children. Plus, why would she plaster her child all over the news and jeopardize her daughter’s safety by making a point to go public about her remembering what she saw. Go to the police and a grief specialist sure, but not the news. That could make her daughter a target for tying up loose ends.

That's so sad. My mom died 2 days after my 3rd birthday (due to abuse/metal health neglect). I was there when the ambulance took her away. I've dealt with horrible PTSD since. I never want a child to suffer like that.

Whoever did this has zero respect for human life. I'm not so sure that getting on national television, announcing to the world that this little girl remembers her daddy's murder, simply bcuz of they person or persons that killed him may get nervous now & worry that this little girl can get them caught & may decide the best course of action is to get the little girl & do away w/her. Ik as a parent I most certainly wouldn't have allowed anybody to know that info. but to each his own, right?🤷

I hate when the best parents get killed. He looked like such a great dad and his smile was beautiful. I hope she will forget what happened that day, but will still remember her dad.

2023 Update: his ex-wife’s new husband is charged with his murder. I hope this brings some sort of closure to them.

Unfortunately they will never find out the killer!! Lost a friend recently shoot down as well in Canada and I hope pray they find the killers!!

Given the precision of the attack and his position at the company, it’s likely he was specifically targeted.

It was probably his ex wife who killed him to gain custody of their kids. Such a senseless killing. Praying to the family and the little girl to have peace.

This is truly tragic! This is why you should have a dash cam or any kind of camera on your vehicle. Because you never know what will happen when you’re on the road these days.

I am so glad this precious child was not killed. So sad what she is going through, so sad for this family. A blessing they didn't lose her.
