Why did she sleep with him for 9 years? I can definitely see how inappropriate this was in the beginning. But at what age does she become strong enough to say "no"? What if she was 40 years old and still sleeping with him? Would she still be under his control and unable to resist?

Same thing happened to me, age 12. It’s far more prevalent than anyone wants to acknowledge. In my 30’s I went to a counselor and told him I’d had an affair at age 12. I now know i didn’t but I was instead a victim of a predator.

She has no idea how many people she has helped by coming forward and showing that there's no shame in being a victim of sexual abuse. I truly believe that her story will help so many other people. What was meant for bad will help so many others.

To those saying “she should’ve told someone as soon as it happened”, I’d like for you to put yourself in her shoes. She was only 16 and he was a grown adult man with the trust of entire church behind him. It’s understandable that she would feel discouraged especially when the religion has such a bad reputation with ignoring or even worse attacking the victim.

I understand you can't tell someone right away. But at 16 unfortunately at least in Canada that's not rape. She called it a relationship in which I am assuming she consented. So why wait Thirty Years. Also, was it so terrible that she felt it was necessary to have him officiate her wedding? I have sympathy that she feels she was victimized. But I don't see her as a victim.

Second of all, I’m sure this was a smaller area of town where the pastor was involved in every aspect of the community, so him being the pastor at her wedding makes perfect sense (especially sense she said that she tried her best to block out all of her trauma- which is very common in VICTIMS of sexual assault). The story brought me to tears. The pastor tried to palm off an illicit affair of adultery when it truly was rape of a minor. He misrepresented what he had done to such a degree that it was unbearable for the couple. I’m so glad that God gave her the strength to come forward and tell her story so that the pastor would fully take responsibility for what he had done. Grooming and rape of a minor is not adultery. Asking for forgiveness is not all that he can do. I hope this woman collects handsomely from him personally and the church.

Pastor needs jail time for what transpired during her teen years but I'm surprised she admitted it continued for *9* years. She was a grown woman and kept going back. And she kept attending his church too with her husband. Way more questions left unanswered.

@@Lkparkernyc they embraced him at first because they thought he was being brave owning up to his sin/transgression publicly out of his own will and they specifically thought it was a grown woman he committed adultery with 20 yrs ago but when the couple spoke on stage saying she was 16 and a virgin things took a big turn and they weren’t embracing him anymore. They even hugged her as she was on the way out and told him to admit it, they confronted him. Grooming and rape of a minor is a whole different ball game the congregation knows that. As a Christian it makes me sad that people like him give us a bad name but unfortunately there's good and bad people everywhere.

It doesn't matter how long she waited to tell her story as long she got the courage to tell it because some of us victims don't tell at all. I understand how she feels I went to therapy for years before I finally told my family what happen to me.

I was groomed from age 12-20. I am just now at 20 telling myself it wasn't right. It's easy to believe what your groomer says. I am mature, I am basically an adult, not a normal child, I've been through a lot. It may be wrong for normal kids, but for us I'm mature and this is normal and special like he says. I can't even imagine how much harder it would be with the religious influence and the man being commonly known as a "good" and "righteous" one. You have no idea what it's like to be groomed if you haven't experienced it. It does not surprise me for a second she was still in his church. This happens way too often.

Yeah, gotta be tough to be the husband in this situation too. Probably used to have fond memories of their wedding day and those could be nightmares now. The power of grooming a minor- spiritual leader, father figure, lover..

I am obviously on her side but still don't understand why she would continue with it until she was 25 so clearly adult and mature, and have him officiate her wedding when she had so much resentment towards what he did when she was a minor?

I think she fell in love with him and realized he never felt the same....he only said it. She tried to move on but her brother mentioned it and she felt all that shame of time given and her body to a man who used her.

This whole religious group is horrible. After he exposes himself, he doesn’t tell the whole damn truth. He only tells a part of it to make it not seem so bad. Then SHE has to come up and explain what actually happened. But then, the WHOLE AHH CHURCH HUGS THE PASTOR. No god damn person should be forgiven. He was a grown man at the time, he knew exactly what he was doing. I hate these type of people. WTH is wrong with them. Especially the victim blaming in the comments.

Some did hug the woman but in the full video there’s a lot more people who circle the pastor to pray for him and lay hands (not necessarily hug), it was kinda sick to watch cuz it made it seem like he was the victim in this whole ordeal

She is speaking out because her brother caught them and was telling her he was gonna out her. So she pre-empted him.

Im so glad she was able to speak about her experience and to show the pastor that his actions were sick. For someone to do that to someone else, they must be truly sick

I hate how it’s worded; “having sex”. It’s not “sex”. It’s rape and grooming. Get the title right. She was only sixteen, and he was in his forties when he preyed on her. She was still a kid.

What's concerning here is this story isn't in line with general abuse cases. It was going on for nine years with her going to him voluntary, not the typical forced presence in general abuse cases. It almost seems like they got found out and she might be trying to protect her reputation and new marriage now; that may be why the pastor also decided to talk publicly too. There just seems to be more to this.

This is what I’m having trouble with. So if this pastor molested her why has she been going to his church for the past 30 years?? And also why is her husband carrying around the same purity ring she had on when she was raped?!?! And now after all these years he says he doesn’t want it in his home?!?! Why did he want it in his home in the first place?!?!?! That’s just disturbing 😳

Also why did she choose to go along with the relationship for 9 years. After the first time, she didn't have to be alone with him or be around him. When she turned 18 why didn't she leave? That's what I'm having trouble with.

How can you feel sorry for someone. That continued to go back to him like hello your an adult at 25 so by then it’s no longer rape .. she could have stopped it at any time and spoke up about it a lot sooner so why now all do a sudden . I hate when people speak up years later it’s pointless .

When I saw the video, I was relieved how many supported her, even after they had just applauded the pastor after he "confessed" and tried to get ahead of the scandal. It takes a lot to realize you've been dedicating so much of your life to what turned out to be lies. For so many people to have done that in mere moments is amazing. Shout out and much love to her and her husband, and the people that embraced them.

She deserves justice…I am so thankful that people were supportive of her same with her amazing husband it must’ve been hell for her to hide something like that a literally have that pastor bind you to your husband and have a room applaud him…I am so amazed by their strength to share her story and can tell that she is a strong woman

Unfortunately this happens all too often. I was sexually abused by my pastor also when I was 13. I tried to tell people in the church and they confronted him but of course he lied. I’m 38 now and finally was able to tell my story on my KZread channel.

That's disgusting and horrible. Why did she stay at that church for so long?

I was 6 yrs old when a member of the church molested me.and later it seemed the same church kept abusing me maybe not sexually but mentally, but I still Love God.

This was done to me when I was 16 by a 32 year old man. Not a pastor, but a grown man nonetheless. Until this day I wish I had the courage to tell the world and expose him for the sicko he was. I admire her so much.

The bravery this woman has to stand up in front of the entire congregation to share this, and the support system she has behind her weeping and fighting at her side is truly unreal. This is an incredible story, heartbreaking as it is. Her husband is an example of what others should be, as is her brother. I wish I had half the nerve of this woman. Abusers wouldn't dare if this was the example we all saw.

@ 3:32 it got me a lil emotional to see the way the person grabbed her and embraced her, the only reason why is because I know some people will be so set in their religion that they won’t even try to believe that what she went through is true…the amount of love she received from others after exposing him of his awful ways is just amazing. She continued a sexual relationship with the married pastor for 9 years after she was deflowered at 16 and still attend the pastor's church until 40s. She had been over 20 for 5 long years in that 9 years and didn't stop the illicit encounter until she married at 25 which you would think make her a complicit mistress. I can understand if it was just that one time at 16 but she voluntarily return for more until adulthood. 🤔

This is why they say girls who 16 can give consent because of demons like that, the law will overlooked at things like this

It’s time to start investigating all the churches! God knows how many children have been abused but were afraid to talk earlier.

The longer you wait to report things like this the harder it becomes to prove she should of reported it right away

He never had any intention of coming forward. Had he not have been confronted by the brother, he would never have "confessed". The only reason he told the church is because he knew the truth was gonna come out. So he decided to tell some extremely vague version of the truth hoping the church would have his back. God will punish him.

This hits home for me, I don’t know if I’ll ever have the courage to tell my family. Even right now I want to delete my comment, I might later on. This is scary AF

It's heart breaking to see that this woman had to go through that, as well as the congregation having to hear that their own pastor, someone they looked up to, committed a grave sin. I am praying for the woman affected by this, as well as the church and even the pastor himself. I pray that they all heal from this, and I pray this pastor repents before our holy God and restore his relationship with Him. Prayers for everyone involved. 🙏🙏
