Thank you Dr. Joe - there is so much pressure on women to avoid the sun to avoid wrinkles, and on people generally to avoid the sun due to skin cancer concerns that, together with most of us working indoors, we just don't expose our skin to the sun, or if we do, we have on 50 SPF sunscreen! I'm going to put on some shorts and get a little sunny walk in for my legs to absorb some D! Thanks for the great video!

Like I said in the video, exposure doesn't have to be all day. 20 minutes for white-skinned and 45 minutes for black-skinned individuals per session. The sun is a better guarantee to get the vitamin D than supplements, given a choice

I have a genetic condition where my eyes have like lil divers, like a golf ball and each lil divet multiples any light coming in, this magnifying the light . It caused migraines. Good morning Dr. Joe. I live in Pennsylvania, US. I am not vitamin D deficient. However, I have noticed with the warmer weather my blood pressure is lower. It is almost always lower than 120/80. I have made some changes in my diet since the winter months like drinking celery juice. Do you think my improved numbers could be the result of more sun exposure? Do you think it will rise in the colder weather months? Thank you and I look forward to your next video. Enjoy your walk!

Something a lot of people don't know is that the sunny weather lowers our blood pressure. It does more than provide us with vitamin D. The sun facilitates energy production in the cells. Helps us make serotonin thereby improving our mood. I can attest to that. Nothing ruins my mood when the sun is out. The sun is a healer. Seriously, it is. I'm hoping that when I retire I move to a sunnier environment. It's Grandchildren that may stop that from happening but it's on the card for the future. So, yes, blood pressure is generally lower in summer and the opposite occurs in winter

It's not safe to walk alone in the woods nowadays. You need something to protect you just in case.... Example: Lombardo Brothers produce market in East St Louis Illinois. They had a cash register, but no receipt, an old adding machine and no scale. Everything was cash. They would look at what you had and add it up. Any theft was discouraged by a handgun in the draw and a sawed off shotgun hanging on the wall behind the counter. It was the best and cheapest produce in town.
