Owner, seriously? It's more like a combination of legal guardian and servant/slave. It's important to know your rank. Just surrender and enjoy the experience of sharing your life with a cat. A friend of mine is a psychologist working with research, when his girlfriend moved in she brought her two cats. My friend said to me that he wouldn't give in to them. When I visited them two weeks later he sat on a chair by the kitchen table feeding the cats, on the table, expensive ham and talking to them as to small children. 😂

I have my indoor cat, but I also have two feral cats that live in our garage. We keep it cracked open, they have food, water, and beds in there. I have named them and they know their names, they are now very friendly. Buddy greets me with a double stretch every time he sees me, I love those cats.

My cats always stretch whenever I pet them. 😊🐱

Stretching, like grooming, seems to be a transitional grounding behavior for cats -- it hits the "reset" button in the best possible way before they change gears and do something else. How quickly they get up and stretch when you appear also shows how little of their sleeping is at all deep. It's often just energy calm, sleep-looking energy conservation, during which they are plenty awake enough to consider most things and just waiting for a something they want to do more than rest. They hear your car engine coming home, they seem to spontaneously wake up, they stretch and, if they wish to be waiting to go out or ask for food the moment you open the door, that's where they'll be, in perfect form, now that your presence has made some new pursuit possible.

My cat likes to stretch out by standing up and placing his paws on the back of my legs with his claws extended. That's a very painful way to express how much he love me. And it's also a friendly reminder that an attack can come at any moment from any direction at any time.

My cat follows me to the bathroom, stretches and sometimes jumps onto my lap (which makes going to the toilet kinda difficult…😂😂). Why does she follow me to the bathroom and usually sit at my feet till I’m finished. She’s also fascinated with the toilet flushing. Loves to look into the toilet bowl when the water swirls in! 😂😂

@@user-xh5pc3wd2m Nah they mostly only meow when they're hungry. If you're living somewhere with a courtyard you can have a bunch of cats and they'll hardly ever bother you.

Cats sleep all the time like 20 hours a day, so statically kitty is sleeping when you come home to disturb him. When cats wake up they stretch - It's not complicated. They still loves you - if you give them food.

Not 100% true. My cats LOVE my neighbor and will fight over his lap when we hang out and he has never fed them. Cats sometimes just love ya because theynjust do. 😅😅😅

My lil Huckleberry Finn is the hardest, funniest stretcher! We discovered when he was really little that he loves it when you put one hand under his hips and one under his shoulders, he’ll reach back and streeeetch as far as he can. I think it gives his belly and chest muscles a gooood stretch. And then usually when he first wakes up, he does the arched back stretch. But I’ve NEVER seen a cat arch as high as he does, so he gets SO round, and he also curls his tail like a lil pug or something! I call it The Scrunchy Boi. “Huck’s doing The Scrunchy Boi!”

Cats really are complex animals due to the the fact that I needed a near 10 minute video as to why they do something simple as stretching 😂

My two kitties do this every day like clock work😂❤ they greet me at the door, then run upstairs and as soon as I get to the top they both stretch and scratch the rug ❤❤❤ then the luvin begins!

My cat's always do this to me & when I walk past them & I've often wondered if this was why. I thought maybe I was just attributing it to liking me for my own validation. Good to know it's a show of affection/love for me.

My cat stretches when i walk thru the door, every time lol. Followed by head & neck pettings, then she inevitably goes for the lower back scratches, which I call butt scratches because she toots it up for me to know to scratch her lower back..& I do it because I know she can't reach back there to clean that area so I'm sure it itches. She also drools when I pick her up lol so I'm constantly washing my hands w antibacterial soap afterwards. She's a mess, but very loveable & sweet to me.

The first time I met her, my brother’s cat hid from me. She was very apprehensive but I showed her she was safe & even gave her some treats. Since then, whenever I’m over, she flops to the floor & starts stretching. I had never experienced a cat do that with me but I knew showing their belly is a sign of trust so I was honored. This video was very insightful and educational. The next time I see her, I’ll know that means it’s time to play! Thanks for sharing.

Fun to have explained, the various reasons for cats' stretching habit. Just now, my kitty bounced out of her round cushy bed close to the living room's central rug, where she stretched out and gave me her side-eye. The signal that she was about to roll over to invite petting and play. She shows especial pleasure by rubbing at her temple with a front paw, and I respond to her way of looking so cute!

Getting ready to be picked up 😂😂

To me kitty is just doing an exercise to keep fit it looks happy after that. My cat is already 12years old and still in good health.my kitty,s happiness is my happiness.long live kitty who always makes my family happy.

I've been taking care of a wild cat(neutered) for almost a year now, she was abandoned as a small kitten and found her in my garden. Every single time i go out of my home, she does that big stretch. Even if it had been only a few minutes since the last time she stretched, she does so again when i get out.

I have 7 cats, moma a siamese and her 6 youngens as well as a few stray cats. Strangely enough, they all stretch when they see me. A few even throw themselves on the floor, which is hilarious at times. The siamese was a stray and came to me almost 2 years ago. I wish I knew her age, but I assume she's around 2, since she was white when she first came to me. I just love watching them and their characters. Your video is very informative. Thank you

We usually have some of our cats in bed with us every night. They sleep good. We get woke up continuously by one or more but wouldn't change it. We love them so much. I use to have one that told me when to go to bed.😂❤

That de-stressing behavior is why my elder stretches out long on my lap when I sit and watch TV! Then, she rolls onto her side and goes to sleep!

Commenting to a friend of mine at the University of Maryland started a research project that ended up with food companies producing allergy reduced foods.I had noticed that different foods created different allergens on the cat's coats creating different amounts of allergy reactions. Good cat owners keep their catsin regards to cats collecting and transmitting diseases to humans.

I thought it meant the cat gets bothered by having to deal with you like "Oh brother. I guess I have to deal with this crazy human again."

Now I know why one of our cats stretches before eating! She is a food bully with her two sisters. It's her being dominant/territorial!

When I get home, my cats greet me at the door and want to lick my face like dogs. After that, they both run off to go stretch and scratch something. They're such funny little guys. I love them.

My bombay boy stretches and reaches out to my face whenever I walk up to him after he wakes up after a nap 🥰. He likes a spot on top of a book shelf (I call it his little “condo” lol he has a couple of beds up there) It’s so cute he always reaches to my face and puts his paw on my cheeks or forehead and kneads on me 😅😂❤. I guess I’m his territory 🤷‍♀️ 😹.
