I had a cat years ago who followed me everywhere, even running up the the sidewalk after me whenever I left the house! His name was Munchkin but my mother renamed him "The Shadow" because he never left my side. He passed away years ago and I still miss him very much.

Several of our cats follow me up the road if I go out on foot. One is particularly close to us and is very protective, she goes on long (miles) walks with us but will not accompany us to open fields, she is aware that there are birds of prey in the sky and knows she would be vulnerable in wide open spaces, she waits under cover for our return.

@@philiptownsend4026 My cat does that as well. They go with me for a walk at night. Most of time, they walk on the grass, pass under bushes of other people's houses. Sometimes, they come up close and walk with me. When I come home from work at night, they see me from 100 m and run towards me. I guess they see well at night or recognize my shape.

I had a cat years ago that would sit on the nightstand and tap me on the head, with her paw, when the radio 8:01 alarm went off. She'd keep it up until I'd get up and feed her.

One of mine used to try the paw-held-on-cheek, tickle with claws, till she did it when I was in a deep sleep and thought a spider was on my cheek,.... Flying Cat go Me-oooooooooooooowwww. Now she's more, walk up sleeping body and stand on stomach heavy.

I can understand that. One of my kitteh's passed six months before my own mother, I miss the cat more.

They care for you. This is 100% true. I had a terrible case of the flu. Jody sat with me for 30+ hours while I battled it.

My cat definitely sticks around more and checks on me more when I'm sick. I call her my heated, vibrating weighted blanket.

I never had a pet myself and I'm alive doing fine, so..

My rescue that I found in my yard sick years ago and took into my home and nursed her back to health is my most loving and smart cat I’ve ever had. She never slept next to me in my bed, but was so in tune to my moods and always watched me and wanted to interact with me. I think she knew I rescued her, but she rescued me, more. One day, my mom passed away at the care home she lived in , and I had to go take care of her arrangements right away and returned home drained, very sad, and emotionally spent. I did not cry in front of my cat, and I went to bed early that night. Five minutes later, she came to my bed and curled up next to me and didn’t leave my side all night! She knew I really needed some comforting that night, and it melted my heart! She’s never repeated something like this since. I believe that cats are way more in tune to our hearts and feeling more than most people even realize. She is now 19 and in perfect health for her age. I love her more than words can describe. I’ll always cherish her being there for me that night and every day she’s been with me!

Rescue cats can be some of the most caring, in my experience, once they get past their fear and trauma they are so sweet.

I returned home from a walk with a broken ankle. I had a cast...crutches..and a whole lot of pain and anxiety. She knew exactly what to do in this situation. She peed in my purse...hat box..and yarn stash. Yep...she knew how to get me up and about..😁👍🏼

I had a cat who definitely used me as her Safety Gauge. When there would be a loud or unusual sound nearby, she would quickly look at me. I would let her know that everything was ok by slow blinking and softly telling her not to worry and that I wouldn't let anything happen to her. She would relax, slow blink and settle back down to her nap. The fact that she trusted me so completely in every way, was especially meaningful to me, because she was a timid, feral, 4 month old kitten when I got her. She turned out to be my Soul Kitty, and we were blessed with 18 adorable years together. It pained me to think what her life would have been if I hadn't snatched her off the streets.❤

Too funny, I didn't think to slow blink. Lulu was asleep on my lap and someone set off a firework last night across the street. Lulu growled and raised her head to look at me. I said that it's okay and placed my hand on her back. She went back to sleep.

In December they set off fireworks (especially loud bangs) for weeks here. The first year I made sure to be around my cat, not reacting AT ALL to these bangs and giving her an assuring little rub when she looked startled. After a few days the fireworks didn't bother her at all anymore either.

Same! I have a tiny bed for my calico girl besides the monitor so she can keep me company.

I’m always amazed how my cats look at me for reassurance after hearing a weird or loud noise. I know I’m anthropomorphisizing, but it seems like such a human behavior.

When I was ill with Covid, my cat whom I kept away from my face and from touching came to sit on top of me like a big mushroom and started to puurrr powerfully that it penetrated down through my stomach. It was like a machine turned on to start healing me. He is very strange and wonderful, my very own soul.

I was in bathroom in middle of night and I had 3 amigos guarding the door so we all could go back to sleep lol my boys we couldn't have kids but we have 3 sons I love them so much.😊

our beautiful little lady follows us everywhere .we have had her since she was 8 weeks old when she became a much loved member of our family and is 11 this year and hope she knows just how much she is loved? she is son loving and caring, she is the centre of our lives, adore Miss Willow.

Just recently brought 2 ragdoll kittens. They are so clingy, and i love it. They want cuddles and play, and they will follow me everywhere. They're sleeping with me as i type 🥰

Every morning when i get up,my two cats,one is a Cow Cat and the other is a Tortie run ahead of me watching for danger. I stop and let them do their thing. I love them soooo much.❤❤❤❤❤

I often fall or pass out because of my hereditary disease. So one of my cats will always follow me to the bathroom in the middle of the night to make sure I'm okay and one of my other cats have actually helped me when I have passed out. So what this video said was true!

I recently lived, along with Mr. B, in a studio apartment. Quite a few times, he has yelled across the apartment when I've gone in the bathroom and out of his sight. I yell back, I'm here, Bubba. I didn't disappear.

So glad I'm not alone on this matter! I've been blessed with two handsome and kind souls. One however never and I mean never leaves my side. I'm extremely grateful to have companions like this in life but this is kind of eerie!!

It's a cat's natural family instinct. They are little Godsends.

Big or small, cats are such amazing, gorgeous creatures.

I have 3 guardians insuring my safety and well being at all times. I am never alone in the bathroom, but they are terrible nurses when I’m under the weather. They don’t merely stare when seeking attention-they meow LOUDLY. Doesn’t matter if they want food, petting, or playtime, always the same tone of voice. I adore all of them.

Our little furry overlord (overlady?) is always near or on us. I work from home, so she couldn’t be sitting on one arm (like she likes), so she usually sits on my feet (I have a poof under my desk as I need to keep my legs elevated) or between my back and the backrest of my wheelchair. With hubby, she loves to ride around the house on his shoulders so much that he sometimes has to tip her off to go to work himself!

I find that a "shoulder cat" is the perfect way to have the elegance of wearing furs while still being environmentally conscious.

My cat knows who is outside, sure enough when he is jumping on the bench top to get to the window, the neighbour's cat is nearby. Then comes his deep guttural meow. His morning lie down on my chest, is his way of saying, '' I'm awake". I respect his space & never disturb him when he is asleep. At night, I get to feel his weight by my leg. Warm and reassuring. ❤

My Milo was with me a lot the whole time i had surgery prep the day before and after I had surgery when my mum brought me back he;s a good snuggly buddy.

I had cats who used to check both me and one another before deciding to panic about a loud noise. I think they were not only gauging my reaction but accounting for the presence of everyone. If the crash happened in another room, but either cat checking around saw that both I and the other cat were in the same room they were, THEN they would panic about the noise.

One snap of the paws and we all get them whatever they need and want. Cats own us we work for them. 😆

Mr. Dorito ( Tabby) & Sabú female tri-colored( but not calico) are the C-Class owners of our home. Mr. Bear, our 6 yr old male Border Collie is our Head of oversight committee.. Since when are humans IN CHARGE of a cat ? Let alone multiple??

I had a cat from 2005 until she crossed the rainbow bridge almost a year ago. She frequently checked up on me, especially first thing in the morning, or when I was in the shower, and was the most affectionate cat I had (I had 3 other cats growing up).

My guys are never far away, if not within arms reach(or on top of me) I'm being guarded from a perch somewhere nearby. It's been five years since I've gone to the toilet unaccompanied, and I seldom sleep alone. Wouldn't have it any other way

My cat is very affectionate loving and he never ever refuses attention and loves to cuddle, but i hate to say sometimes he wants to much attention.

Some lovely kitties in the video! When cats look at you, they are checking up on their staff! But it's not Pee-cah, it's Pie-cah, and humans can be afflicted with it too, with similar symptoms.

My 15 year old baby girl has recently discovered that that if she curls up in front of the mirror i often use and is on the comfy couch... All she has to do now and then is open her eyes slightly and she can see me without having to turn her head!

one of my cats comes when I play the ukulele in bed (which I often do). Not sure why, but the night I captured her I sat with her in the bathroom and played the ukulele for over an hour to calm her down.

It’s really hard to tell if a cat is checking on you since they may also come to see you for cuddles. 🥰 I got a kitten before she was my family cat and she has black and white fur and it was long. She would come and see me every now and then and would rub up against me and would lick my face. She would also sometimes sit on my lap and would also crawl up me so she could reach my face and lick it. I knew it was pure love as she licked me quite a lot she was a very loving and affectionate cat and I still live with her now. I also have another cat the other cat I own isn’t a family cat because I got that cat on my birthday. He was grey tabby cat and I called him Lopez I had Lopez as a kitten in my old home he could be a bit naughty when he was little as he would go in the floor boards and he even jumped out the window once. I know cats can’t get hurt from heights and that they land on all 4 paws 🐾 but my mum assumed that the window wasn’t really safe for him as she thought it might be a bit too high for him but he was fine. and he also climbed up a tree and couldn’t get down before so we had to get help to get him.,.down we didn’t let him out on his own as a kitten since we thought that he wasn’t old enough and responsible to explore the world on his own yet. We got a harness for him so we could help him explore the out side world safely but my mum said that the lead wasn’t really making any difference. Also we would put a collar on him as a kitten so he wouldn’t get lost since he hadn’t been microchipped yet. The good thing was that the collar had a bell so if he got lost I could find him if he went out by himself. I remember hearing his bell and finding him out side late at night. He would often wake me up at night mewing at me and would keep walking onto my bed. After my dad had died from cancer me and my mum moved in with my step dad and so did Lopez of course he still wasn’t a family cat and was still my cat since like I said I got that cat on.,. my.,. birthday. Lopez is already a grown adult now and has had his microchip done know we thought it was a better option since if a branch grabbed him by the collar his collar could come off too easily. I have to admit that the collar looked a lot more stylish but the microchip definitely worked better for him. I also used to have 2 other house cats when I moved in with my step dad except that those 2 were the family cats we had 2 black and white cats called Noo Noo and Kia. Kia was a female cat who was getting to be really old and Noo Noo was quite young I think when I first met Kia Kia was a lap cat and so was Noo Noo they would sit on my lap. and Noo Noo would lick my finger when I put it near his mouth. In the end Kia ended up passing away because she was really old and Noo Noo was the second one to get old and now he has died as well. I’m only left with my 2 cats now that is Lopez who is my cat and the one with black and white fur now and surprisingly enough she has been given 2 names so we would call her Luna RainBall I called her RainBall and some of my family members would call her Luna. RainBall is now all grown up and has the face of the kitten and would act like a kitten and would misbehave and attack people which she was already a grown up and was too old for this behaviour. She has gotten better though she still attacks my family members every now and then but she’s much better. She’s not a grumpy cat though she’s just really.,.playful.

Funny I'm seeing this now .. I'm going in for my final cancer surgery on Monday morning and my cat is shadowing me everywhere... I just got telling my uncle about that ... Its like he knows he may not see me again.

My gray rescue is an attention hog. If I have a visitor, she wants them to pet her. If they don't like cats, they aren't my friends 😤

In the summer my cat goes out for over15 hours. When she gets home, I yell at her and tell her to come home every few hours, so that I know she is OK. She does it too 😻😻 As for cats following you to the bathroom, it's the Gremlins, I think cats hates them

It could be an extremely cloudy day, but I still have a shadow. Mr. fluff is always there.

We got a Maine Coon cross from the SPCA that had been traumatized. Now he is very happy cat and will come and get us to do things like open doors, feed him, pet him or groom, or tidy his litter and then watch as we perform the tasks. He is the sweetest boy and so handsome. He was returned to the shelter twice and was a bit of a basket case but he has blossomed into a very happy kitty. He has become a mommas boy and has proven to be very entertaining. He is also an accomplished mouser. He goes out in the backyard to hunt and always stays in the yard, never wandering. VERY smart and very well behaved. Such an adorable boy.

They purr when you sick or down in the dumps because they know it's healing. It has something to do with the pitch and tone. My cats would wake me up in the night because they want to go out side in the nice summery weather.

I was awakened by my fur baby girl last week in the a.m. hours. I felt something pushing on my right thigh, and I looked up and saw her pushing my thigh with both front paws. When she noticed I was awake, she rushed to my face meowing. She was hungry😊 As I got out the bed, she jumped down and ran to the kitchen to take her place at the table, which is a sign for meal time😊 I fixed her a snack and took it to the bedroom and placed the dish on her food tray. She happily ran from the kitchen behind me and ate her food in the same room we sleep. If I don't take her food to the bedroom, she will sit in the kitchen and call out for me to come to her, "meomy, meomy, meomy!" So, this is why I take her food to the bedroom and put it on her food tray😽😻💙

When I thought that we were both asleep, I need to slowly go my way to the comfort room because my Lilly would easily wake up. It is as if he has a 3rd eye for me even while asleep.

When I went through a rough patch in my life my cats were right by my side.

I was sitting on the couch crying. My cat was upstairs and she came running and out out her paw on my leg and meow! She loved me and I loved her!

The only time I heard my cat chattering was when he was trying to catch a moth that was out of reach. He kept chattering and giving me side glances as if trying to give me directions to where the moth was. We hunted the moth together (well I swiped at the moth to get him to Kitty's reach, didn't want to be a better hunter than him) It was really fun!! He's usually my shadow so doesn't really come to check on me, he's usually close to me and if he's away for a while then he just returns, he doesn't check and keeps walking most of the time.

My cat alerts to any noise outside without checking with me and then lets me know it’s all good…. Comes when I call too… We got it like that.

I recently lost my sweet baby Aurora after 18 1/2 years together. She was rarely more than an arms length away from me, she slept on me, helped heal 2 broken wrists, 4 broken ankles, and one broken shoulder. She woke me up if she was hungry or out of water. She protected me, even from our 2 male cats we got during Covid, and ran to me if the boys chased her. After she passed the boys, Sebastian and Sinclair started to come out of their shells and have become total love bugs! I thought they just liked my hubby better. lol! They have started taking turns checking on me, or spending days with me, not sure how they have worked that out! I know it will take time for me to completely bond with them, but am enjoying the journey! ❤❤❤

I have seen videos where this was demonstrated - the cat’s reaction to something depends on your reaction. If you are calm the cat is calm, if you are frightened of something the cat is frightened of the same thing.

I had a pair of guard cats from years 2000-2018 they always looked after me especially when I had my epileptic seizures when I still lived in my parents house they would alert my family that I was having a seizure and they would look after me at bedtime and the older one would do the security guard roll after she did her kneading and knocked me out until she would wake me up at 2 a.m by fighting with strays they had maternal instincts and they would look after me and still get worried about me when I would seizure even when they got old I miss both of them so much ❤️

My cat Angelica follows me everywhere. Sleeps with me. Shes a valcro kitty. She always has to be near me. She also is sad when I go out. I forgot to feed her one night before going out for a couple hours. I went home and got her food ready and then sat down. She ignored the food and ran to me jumping up on me and cuddling with me instead of eating her food. She did eventually eat her food but she wanted kitty cuddles first. The only cat I’ve ever had that loves their human more than food. ❤️

Whenever I cry from sadness or laughter, my cat will come and check on me 🥰. He also always sleeps on my side of the bed and enjoys sleeping on me!

I had one that would follow me everywhere. I could walk around the block and she would be right there with me! She came to visit me after she passed............true!! She used to jump on the bed and snuggle next to me and one day, after she was gone, I felt her do it again and I reached down before I realized what had happened!!

I have 4 cats (3 are littermates) and one Saturday I was so exhausted from working my 2 jobs, that I just slept a lot. I had the day off, I was burned out, and needed rest. When I finally work up in the afternoon, all 4 cats were sitting side by side beside me, staring at me. 😂 It was like I woke up in the middle of them having a conference about my state.

I could swear my latest rescue (Rotten Rita) can read a clock.Females seem smarter.She's like a nurse(or prison matron)doing her rounds.I could also swear she has precognition and can read minds.Half the time she follows me like a dog.The other half she seems to know where I'm headed beforehand,and I follow her like a dog.

They check on you because: 1. they're bored 2. you're amusing 3. they care about you regardless of food 4. you are the food source 😅

Mine waits until the very SECOND that I'm about to fall asleep, then comes and jumps right up on my gut, circles around until she's comfortable, then lays down on me. I could be extremely tired, and about to fall asleep in about 30 seconds, or a little stressed, and lay there for about a half hour before I'm just about to doze off. But right at that very twilight second, when you are exactly between asleep and awake, BAM!! She suddenly jumps up on me right then. Every single night for years, and it still makes me jump sometimes because it startles me. How she knows the exact second, I'll never figure out.

They will jump into the owner's pants while using the restroom!

They wouldn't check on us if they could open the tuna can themselves. We are just a can-opener to them😂

I had epilepsy growing up, I grew out of it, but my cats would watch me if I got a migraine headache, related to the epilepsy. I finally grew out of the epilepsy, after 12 years.

😊 my female cat talks to me when I talk to her, my male cat could care less but he does talk to me sometimes. There names are Crash and Eddie

My cat follows me everywhere i go bathroom, kitchen, bedroom literally everywhere

Cats have no owners.....just care takers.

Follows me into the bathroom, jumps in my bath water, wails at the door while I’m checking the mailbox or taking out the trash. 😂

My Trixie stays by my side most of the day. If I go into the bedroom she follows and it’s entirely true if we’re sick they know. She will try to comfort me when I’m sick.

Alarm set for 6:30AM. But at 5:30AM, "Hey, you awake?" "Hey" "Hey" "Hey" "You awake?" "I need someone to walk me to my food bowl" "Hey, you awake?" Walks cat to food bowl and then back to bed. 2 minutes later... "Hey" "Hey" "Hey". "Just checking on you to make sure you're sleeping". "you sleeping?"

My 🐈 like follow me everywhere go and sleep 💤 with me in bed

I go to the bathroom both of them follow. I sit on the couch watching TV I have two pairs of eyes staring at me before they hop on he couch and one or the other take their lap shifts and of course my boy likes to supervise my cooking. Almost every time I go into the kitchen my two scamper in and it’s not feeding or snack time. They just like to see what I’m going to be doing. And when I wake up in the morning they’re both waiting for me for their breakfast.

One time I was having a bad trip. Like, a really bad trip. My two cats sensed this, and they curled up to me and just purred and purred. It grounded me enough and made me feel safe and I just rode out the entire thing under a blanket on the couch curled up with my two purring saviors.

My cats do check on me. 🥰 They've been hanging around me a lot since I've been suffering with extreme fatigue.

I have an orange tabby that is 9 years old. I adopted him about 4 years ago, and he has followed my every move since then! He sleeps with me before my husband gets a chance to 😹

I adopted littermates last fall, a boy and a girl, and the boy is obsessed with me. I’ve known a lot of cats in my life but I’d never experienced any of this before my little britches came into my life. He meows this squeaky, sometimes actually silent meow when he wants me to pick him up. He likes to be held like a baby and he maintains intense eye contact. He frequently strokes my face with his paw. My dad died 8 months ago and my experience with grief has included a lot of random crying. Twice I’ve started crying while holding my little guy and he wiped at a year rolling down my face. I know this sounds insane. If it hadn’t happened to me, I never would have believed a cat would or could behave this way. I think he came into my life for a specific reason and that is to help me through this painful process of grieving my father, who was my favorite person in the world. We don’t deserve cats.

One of our three bathrooms has a pocket door, which I close when I am using the toilet. Sure enough, one of the cats has its paws under the door, reaching out to get to me. If I wiggle a little length of toilet paper at its paws, all hell breaks loose!

My cat would always look for me at a certain time and would come and sit right in front of my keyboard and would massage my chest all while purring away. It was so cute

our family cat checks on everybody regularly. At night, he will check out every person in the house, at least twice during the night. Like he's doing regular sentry rounds! We quickly learned to leave inside door open, because if he cannot get in, he will howl and scratch at the door. And if someone is in the bathroom, he will invariably go in with them and watch until they come out safely. We have to assume he is worried about us being in that room with so much water! He even gave a friend of ours a near heart attack, when he stayed overnight. He was sleeping on the couch, and the cat was on the back of the couch glaring down at this stranger. Well our friend woke up just in time to see two huge, yellow eyes staring down at him in the dark room! Our friend screamed and fell off the couch, and chaos ensued. It took us all awhile to determine what had happened. Our cat regularly waits at the front door when he knows one of us is due home.

When I caught the second strand of the Covid, I had those bad coughs for 2 weeks..I felt like I was going to die because it was super heavy coughing… my Tuxie, Buddy, laid on top of my chest for 2-3 days..cats are amazing!

If I'm not well she knows and leaves her food to check out what's happening . If I spend too long in the bathroom, she'll call with a melodious tone several times while heading in my direction . She's my alarm, she'll call and if I don't move she'll just give a hard drag on the sheet. ❤😻.

I had one that would scratch on the shower door yowling😂 The two I have now just stare and reach on the tub to peek in when I take a bath 👀

when I had back surgery, my cat never left my side except to eat or use her litter box. I miss that cat.
