I always found it ironic that every person on the planet thinks that every single person that sells cars is a liar and a thief, yet in 20 years in the business I've seen clients lie and try to hide things wrong with their trade-ins 1000% more often then the salesperson lie to them or try to hide something.

@@ericmojo9192 Funny because the hollywood sleazy car sales person is still very much alive today and it creates this mentality. Too many people have been burned buying cars over the years that of course they think all car sales folk are liars, and they are. Hell, there are a ton of videos on this very channel about shady deals that happened. Customers are trying to play the game as well and well if you are doing trade in's just like a customer it is your duty to inspect it beforehand and can say yes or no. Car sales should not be like this anymore - it should be a simple transaction, but that trust has worn away over decades and the system perpetuates it.

The more affordable equivalent would be the Cadillac ATSv or CTSv (at the time). And currently the CT4v Blackwing & CT5v Blackwing. 3 of which can be had in a manual👍 Also the Chevy SS (Re-badged Holden Commodore). They had a 415hp LS3 v8 (in the US), 3-pedal option, mag-ride shocks, and a damn good chassis/suspension setup. A big comfy sedan that pulls .95g of grip on the skidpad, and also has heated & cooled seats😅👍

It was immaculate and he complained it needed new tires after he lowballed me to $1900. It was fine because a one little old lady Honda Accord just came to me for trade in money. That was totalled a couple years later in a fender bender and they gave me $4k for it. I cut a quarter panel out of PicknPull, did a 'brake and lamp' and sold it to a high school kid for $600. Wheel. And dealn

You almost always have to lack all morals to be a successful salesman. I used to do HVAC installs (for a very overpriced company), where the sales guys made $140-175k/year. And once went to diagnose an old lady's furnace.. Well I mentioned how it looked brand-new, (turns out we installed it 2yrs prior).. and I was told to keep my voice down. Well the POS salesman/installer training me, took one look at the furnace, and then completely cut all the wires for the blower motor.. tossed it in front of me and said "well its dead now".. And when I asked why we didnt try to fix it, he said with a smirk "its cause im just a really good salesman".. Yeah, it pissed me the f*ck off. Absolutely disgusting. But when i worked with service techs, (who arent making any commission). We'd sit there for hours in a low-income neighborhood.. trying everything to fix (one time) a literal 45 year old furnace. Just to save the person the cost of replacing it. And for that lady, as soon as we found out she rented.. we called her landlord and just had them replace the whole system😅👍

I found this out very very early in my life buried to be a good salesman you basically have to be a very bad person you have to lie I can sociopath. You need to be 100% self-centered and not care about other people at all. Their exceptions to these rules but not many. Think about it. I did find a nice honest car broker person. He was quite a much older fellow and had been doing this for a very very long time. or. This guy was older had been doing it all his life and had almost no wealth amassed because he was honest and cared about people. I'm telling you this is the way it is. I don't have any successful salesman as friends. They are evil horrible people. The successful ones are. You can't have a conscience be nice and be successful I the any sales business unless you are unusual person like Ed Bolian and a very very select handful of others.

  • @corail53

Actually to be a good salesperson you should be honest and be trying to help out your customer. The whole point of modern day sales is to help alleviate pain points for the customer with your product. This is how it works in B2B tech, industrial materials, food industry etc etc. The system built into car sales is what has caused this lack of trust over the many decades. You get treated well at higher end dealerships but mid, low range dealers and independents are always trying to use their customers as marks to squeeze instead of helping. It also goes without saying that a lot of dealers fail to properly inspect and repair the cars they buy and that is just a shame. Also ED is showing a persona here - when he was in car sales it is almost guaranteed he was just as sleazy as everyone else.

Most car sales folk know nothing about cars and they don't need to. They are not selling to car people they are selling to people who need a car to get from point A to point B who also know next to nothing about cars. And all business is caring about how much money you can make - it is the entire point of business. The issue comes in dishonesty - modern day sales in other industries is about solving customer problems and alleviating pain points with the product you are selling, you build a rapport. The car industry could easily do this as well and still make their commissions and sales but for some reason the perpetuation of seeing customers as marks to swindle is still happening. We are now at a point where customers think they can do the same sleazy tactics and try to put one over on the dealerships with their broken trade in's etc so it is now a lost cause.
