Why Wont My Tractor Lift Anything?! Is Low Hydraulic Pressure The Issue?

Why is your tractor weak, tractor hydraulics troubleshooting? Testing loader hydraulic pressure. My Mahindra Max 26 XLT wouldn't lift what it was supposed to so I had to get to the bottom of it. It ended up being low hydraulic pressure and here is how you can test is and a could things that may resolve the issue! Hope you all find it helpful and please comment below if you have feedback!

    Just bought a 2021Mahindra Max 26 XLT. Love my tractor. Love your videos...FYI, The hydraulic lines to the front loader changed at some time in 2021. The high pressure hoses from the manifold are now 1/4 inch instead of 3/8, and instead of going straight up from the manifold, there is a 90 degree fitting that routes them forward. The quick connect is now a 1/4" AG ISO 5675 hydraulic quick connect. Link: 1/4” Ag ISO 5675 Hydraulic Quick Connect Pioneer Style Coupler Set, 1/4” NPT Thread My from factory hydraulic pressure was spot on to factory specs, at 2100 PSI. Was great having your help guiding me through testing it.

    The Max 26 XLT is a stout little tractor and I find it to be a great tractor myself. From my understanding they changed the loader model this year and are using a USA built loader and it has also increased capacities! Sorry if I mislead you on the fitting sizes, but I am glad you were able to figure that all out! Appreciate all of the positive feedback and I am glad you like the videos! Thanks for stopping in and enjoy the tractor!

    My two year bumper to bumper goes out in September... I haven’t checked mine yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I was just shy of where it needs to be...I’ve heard of some guys swapping to 1526 cylinders....like you the curl power just isn’t what you expect based on the 1402lbs lift capacity at the pivot pins.

    This only applies to the loader hydraulic circuit. It does not change the pressure of the complete tractor. The Max HST has three pumps. One is the main drive pump that moves the tractor. It is attached directly to the clutch. The other two are on the front left side of the motor which are gear driven. One is for the power steering circuit and the last is for the hydraulic accessories, loader or rear remotes.

    Good to know, I need to look into that more! It's odd that I saw an overall performance increase on the tractor. Coincidence, could be or they adjusted both!

    I am a forklift technician, so I repair hydraulic systems all the time. You may not like what I'm about to say, but I feel you need to hear it. DO NOT adjust the relief pressure of your hydraulic system above the factory specifications. Those specifications are in place for the safe operation of your equipment. If you adjust them above what is specified, you will see the following issues. 1. Hoses will blow out at a faster rate than normal. 2. Seals inside hydraulic cylinders will fail at a faster rate. 3. Hydraulic pump will fail at a faster rate. These failures are not going to occur when the unit is not in use, they are going to occur when you have that heavy load in the air and the potential for injury is highest. In short doing this is just a bad idea!

    Great info. I do have a question on your parts list. You have the coupling with 1" NPT thread but the reducer on the gauge is 3/8" NPT. Are you missing a 1" to 3/8" NPT reducer?

  • @k6outdoors

    Thanks for stopping in! When I bought the set, I used the coupling with the 3/8" NPT threads. For whatever reason is looks like amazon does have that specific one from the link I provided anymore and it is now defaulting to the 1" NPT style. I hope this helps!

    Hello, nice video, but I have a question for anyone who has used this information to fix their hydraulic system. Set screws are cheap and normally easy to find. Has anyone just changed out the set screw to for a longer loader screw to add additional adjustment, and did that help fix the low pressure? I have a 1526, 2017 yr, and it's a little weak on the lift, but it's definitely not worth messing with when it was under warranty. If I recall, the pump is only a 7 gallon per minute pump.

    I would pressume it would increase the pressure, might have to look into it!

  • @SimonASNG
    @SimonASNG2 жыл бұрын

    So... There was nothing to fix? The pressure was what it should have been and the tractor is just not able to lift anything? I'm having a similar problem (except it is with my hydrostatic transmission being somewhat gutless) on my B21, but I am hoping I can adjust the bypass valve and get better performance.

    Hey sir thank you for the video! I have a Mahindra 2015 104 ml 4wd and the tractor will run/ drive, but when engaging the pto my bush hog will periodically lift and lower, and the bucket is the same. I checked the hydraulic fill reservoir had bubbles. You think this is a failed hydraulic tandem pump, or maybe a bad release valve? Thank you in advance
