Why women should FAST differently than men? | Dr Pal

Ойын-сауық

@@ankitamal8647 hi, so now it’s been approximately about 3 months, that I am following intermittent fasting. I usually eat from 11am to 5 pm. I usually try to do it everyday, but sometimes during the week on any occasions, I can break my fast… but because of following this fasting everyday, I automatically don’t feel hungry, and even if I have to eat, I eat in very small quantity. It becomes natural to not eat, our body gets used to it… it’s harder for the first few days, but if you stick to a routine, it will be easy. Though I eat literally anything and everything in my eating window, which is wrong… I eat chips, pizza, cakes, ice cream, biscuits, everything… but the quantity is reduced and I am losing weight despite of eating everything. I think Dr Pal is right he says, “what” you eat is less important than “when” you eat.

Listening to the body helps and also controls from over indulging or having backfire from resisting too hard. IF has really helped stabilize blood sugars and regulate cycles. And best part is it is a habit now, not like a diet that crashes in 2 weeks. I thank you sincerely for your videos. They help a lot!

Could you please talk about the right way to do intermittent fasting in menopausal women? The dos and don’t? Love the way you explain things with analogies and in a jovial way…removes the tedium and fear and makes us more receptive…great job, doctor!

I continue my 16:8 fasting the whole cycle. It's doable. Thanks doc, that you make us to understand our body conditions. Even hereafter, if I crave for sugars, I can make myself clear that it's the mischievous progesterone that does it. 😂

Thank you so much for this! Can you shed some light on the messed up circadian rhythms in teen girls, and how it could bring hormonal/metabolic imbalance? I find many young girls are unable to sleep at normal times despite practicing sleep hygiene (no devices, etc), but they are still required to wake up earlier than their bodies can handle, hence they are sleep deprived. This leads to other disruptions in the body. I experienced this myself and ended up with PCOS and other issues.

  • @violetsarelavender

We are programmed to sunlight. Our hormones too are synchronised the same way. When light falls on your eyes, melatonin shuts down and other hormones start rising..the ones which are needed for daily work. As night falls, mind you the sunlight (natural) our body readies to shut down. So it is advised not to eat post sunset. And sleep early. 9-10pm is reasonable. When you sleep, your body repairs itself from the stresses of the day. Once it's over, you will ideally automatically wake up. Some need 7 hours , some 8 of sleep. When you wake up, if you follow the circadian rhythm , you will feel refreshed.
