When meeting someone new, I never ask them what they do as I think it's rude. I ask them "how was your week?" and use that to start the conversation. People may say "I've been busy with work" or "I've been producing some music" etc and it's a better way to engage in my opinion

It's a nice thing to say but career, daily tasks of living and social obligations take up a lot of time and there's just not a lot of energy left over for many adults . The problem is often isn't just one of suppressed desire but logistics .

Summary: Do not identify only with your primary occupation or work. Follow your passions, which are based on your story, which is your brand. Treat yourself like a business. Make and become your own brand. Let it guide your purpose just like businesses do. Be on brand. Be open to doing more that just one thing and realize that if you follow your passions by letting them shape your brand, you may well find success.
