Growing up, I always thought I wanted to live in a busy city for my entire life. Now, I am realizing the importance of living out of big cities. I love it when I'm in a smaller town. Friendly people, less traffic, less taxes, more chill and feels like an actual community.

My husband and I both grew up in Southern California. We left for Oklahoma in 1980 and have been here ever since. We both still have family in California and visit periodically. It's a fun place to visit for about a week and then we are ready to come home to our 40 acres of trees. I've become accustomed to the slower pace over the years. All places have their pros and cons, though. Y'all are young. This is a great time of life to travel and experience lots of places. Have fun!

Already happening. The State Dept. raised the Citizenship renunciation fee from $400 to $2350. It will jump again, now that "nomad capitalism" and the digital nomad life is taking root. When other nations are starting to offer visas based on location-independent living, it's only a matter of time until more and more laptop-based employees get sick of the whole shebang in the USA and opt for a more favorable country/environment/tax scenario/etc. It's WELL underway.

I lived in Sydney. You’re going to find, depending on where you live, that Sydney has some of the same frustrations you experienced in NY and LA. Good luck to you, but maybe consider a smaller city.

They're moving to split their time between Sydney, Australia, and New Jersey in order to be with their families. Both of those are areas with policies more similar to CA than to red states. Also, they can't "fix what they have helped create" (what does this mean?) when what they want is to be near their families after a long year of separation + isolation. Watching the full video beyond the jokey intro might clarify a lot of the issues people are commenting about as they pertain to Matt.

I was born and raised in Socal, but I left over 15 years ago. Though it's fun to go back and visit, by the third day I can't wait to leave again.

New York and Los Angeles aren’t the same. AT ALL. New York City is relatively small, busy, you’re always doing things, weather is cold as fuck, is beautiful though, the architecture and landmarks. It just sucks the life out of you because the city moves 24-7. Los Angeles is a just a huge suburban city with Mediterranean weather, it’s all pretentious things, and beaches. You have to drive in Los Angeles every-fucking-where while in New York public transportation is excellent. Even how people dresses in each city is different. NY and LA could easily be place in different on how extremely different they are. Both are good and bad in their own ways.

I also used to live in LA (San Dimas) but now I live in North Bergen, NJ just 20 minutes away from NYC. I like both cities even with their problems, but comparing both and thinking both are equal is nonsense. It’s like comparing London to Ibiza

i feel like your channel is making me consider getting into film. i'm a storyteller and i've wondered what medium is best to use. graphic design, illustration, and animation are nice, but making documentaries sounds amazing. i would love to make at least one documentary in my life.

I have lived in Pasadena (CA) for 1 year and an half. I think it was an amazing place where to live, far enough from the chaos of LA, but close enough to enjoy the best of LA at your own choosing. I am not an American, but I really feel as that area is the best that the States can offer. Then I moved to Atlanta. 9 months that felt like an eternity of pain and misery. Gosh, I am so happy I am home now. Anyways, best luck with your new destination :)

I spent most of my adult life in LA and my husband was born and raised in Venice and Santa Monica but we split in 2016. We miss it every day, but the way it was before about 2014. Before that, we thought we'd never live anywhere else. It's so beautiful there. Was. I hope it will be again one day. It was also very livable for a middle class income before. That needs to make a comeback as well.

I visited OZ a few years back and spent a week in Sydney to start off. Beautiful city and the people in Australia have such a lovely spirit and welcoming nature. I especially loved walking the harbor and the old neighborhoods.

I wish I could also find a guy like you, like the way you guys live, how understanding you people are. There is a proper balance of maturity and fun and also both of you are acing in your careers, obviously, there must be problems, who doesn't have. But it's nice

The problem is that they're moving to states that are doing well and then the entitlement of being a Californian kicks in then that states housing and cost of living becomes a mess. It happened here in AZ. I want out of AZ because of all the CA moving here.

Amen same here in East TN too. They're flocking here in droves and trying to change our way of life. This 10th generation Tennessean is seeing his home state changing, and not for the better.

It’s not chill..and I’m not even in Los Angeles. Riverside county here..LA county is worse but for some reason I realized traffic has grown here in riverside. The amount of stress from driving here is sometimes unbearable and the people...though nicer than in LA...are just eh. Tired of this “hustle rush” culture. For mental health reasons, it’s no good

Not all, but alot. I know plenty who left, the state is seeing such a big reduction we may lose congressional districts. In fact I believe the population continues to drop. California will become Detroit 2.0

@@VODZ I don't think so, based on the agreeable climate, geography, and the limited real estate. It will always be a desirable place to live. The infrastructure and taxes just need to change and people need to stop crowding in cities. There is still a lot of open, vacant land to develop in this state.

I like how you added in New York it gives an idea of your lifestyle as a whole not just Los Angeles

I left LA years ago. I lived on the beach and I loved the culture. I left before COVID and the fires. Bless you for hanging in there! My condo there that I used to live in (700 sq. ft) now sells for $350,000. I bought a house on the East coast in the country for $100K on opposite coast. Traded traffic & craziness for miles of Clear land and country style of living.

I came across your page this morning when searching about quitting social media. When watching your video about waking up at 5 am and seeing that you lived in LA, I for some reason wondered if you moved out of California. Then I looked through your recent uploads and saw this. Of course you left LA, everyone is! I think anyone on a journey of self discovery and the intention of living a meaningful life is realizing that places like LA just do not coincide with that type of lifestyle. I moved to LA last January, and moved away to Georgia in December. Feel so much better and at peace since leaving that place.
