Just about everything was from the 50's and 60's. We watched lots of classic books made into movies like Jane Eyre, Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice. We just about wore out the dvd's from the library of the old Parent Trap and The Sound of Music!

I totally agree, everything on TV or in the movies contains filth! They really bow down to the lowest denominator when making these movies and TV programs! Watching a movie at home with family is the best! It's cheaper, you know what you are eating, you know where the toilet paper is located, and you can doze off without someone becoming irate! Long time ago, because I’m a little older: I went to see the Disney animated “Alice in Wonderland” from the 1950s with my mother. It was at an old theatre that showed old classic films. This was maybe in 1983, when I was in high school here in Los Angeles. I miss my mom, she’s been gone some twenty years now, but this memory of watching Alice in Wonderland with her, it is very special to me.

I agree with everything you said! A few more things I have a problem with are: 1. It's SO loud. I don't like being blasted by sound effects 2. If I go to the movie during the day, I'm disoriented when I leave. Coming from a dark theater into a sunny day messes me up! I can't shake off the movie and get back to real life. 3. I guess I'm old-fashioned immature. I'm embarrassed by love scenes! I want to cover my eyes like a kid! 4. I get sleepy. I can hardly keep my eyes open, even through the blare of the speakers! I usually want to take a nap when I get home. I probably haven't been to the movies more than five times in the last ten years! They're not good for me and too expensive. I usually wish I had my time and money back. But I do love the $15.00 popcorn! I just can't make it the way the theater does!

The last movie Jennifer and I watched in a theater was March of the Penguins in 2005. Reasons: 1. Tickets are too expensive. 2. The dearth of good Hollywood movies. 3. People no longer knowing how to behave in public. 4. Having to listen to people's eating noises and smell their food. 5. The advent of flat screen TVs and home theater sound systems. 6. Movies coming to streaming soon after release (and even then I usually don't care). 7. Not wanting to support Hollywood's politics and spoiled brat actors.

You two young ladies are so precious. In a recent video that your parents made they mentioned how very proud they were of you both, and if I were your momma, I would be too ❤ I actually feel the same as you both do about the movies, but when I was younger I didn't have many friends and so when I actually got asked to go to the movies I felt like I "fit in", at least for a little while, but while there I always got the feeling I wanted to go home because my safe place was with my parents and our home. We were poor too so there wasn't much money to go around for things that weren't necessary. One of the reasons I hated going to the movies is because of how uncomfortable those stupid seats were, and my feet would stick to the floor because of the previous viewers spilling their soda, dropping their gum on the floor, etc. You don't dare allow your outerwear to drag on the floor if you took it off. Along with all the things you both said about why you don't like going to the movies, if I couldn't get an isle seat or sit in the back near the light in the hallway, I did not feel comfortable. Having to crawl over people to get out to go to the restroom (don't like going to public restrooms but sometimes it can't be helped 'cause when you have to go, you have to go) and you know you're going to be blocking someone's view trying to get out....well, I know how irritating that can be. Anyway, I haven't been to the movies in many years. The drive-in's weren't that bad because you could bring your own snacks & drinks and you were sitting in your own vehicle so no chance of interrupting anyone's viewing time, but even then, if you had to go to the restroom, you had to walk a mile (figuratively speaking), and everyone there watching the movie would see you coming and going. I was bullied in school so I grew up being a wallflower. I didn't like it at the time but it's my way of life now. I love being at home in my own space, without people looking at me or watching me (only my husband, and my animals who love me unconditionally). I loom knit or read (my husband works since I am unable), and oftentimes I just sit and contemplate life or watch great videos like yours that reminds me of simpler times and my parents being alive to share life with. Love you girls, and I look forward to seeing more of these types of videos from you both, as well as anything else you feel you would like to share. May God Bless you and keep you in His loving care until we meet again on this channel ❤HUGS❤

You gals are sooo relatable! Lol! Every reason you mentioned, I'm like "yep! My thoughts exactly!" I've had people call us backwards because we don't like movie theaters, we don't like being in crowds, in stores any longer than necessary, etc. For us, personal space is cherished and we do not like people encroaching on it. And unfortunately, most people cannot grasp the concept of "stay away and leave us alone!" I'm the one who parks at the end of the parking lot and walks 10 miles to the store because I don't want people parking next to me lol! Maybe that part is just me 🤷🏼‍♀️ But y'all seem very much like us, you're content to just stay home and when you leave you want to hurry and get back. Love y'all! God bless and stay safe!

We'd sneak in snacks to save money. I had a big tote bag sized purse and we'd fill it with snacks and drinks 😆. I'd try to act "casual" with that 5 lb bag pulling my shoulder down ...lol. I figured we weren't REALLY wrong for sneaking in snacks cause they can't tell me what to put in my purse. 😁 Important : I want to add that we made sure we kept our snacks from messing up their seats, floors, etc. It's not their responsibility to clean up from our snacks we brought in.

I'm right there with you girls! I used to enjoy movies a lot more but then I learned more and grew up and just don't enjoy the indecency showcased in most mainstream television and movies or the wierd undertones, some not so undertone, in children's movies. Nevermind paying for it! Yeah, that's a big no for me, Bob! I wish all of us "weirdos" could all live in one town. That would be great 😃

I just love you girls! You are not backwards hill people. You are refreshing in a world that puts importance on the wrong things. These days movies are overpriced especially for the content they have. Don't get me started on the price of popcorn, drinks and candy! A funny remembrance as a child going to the movies...I was always tall for my age. They questioned me buying a child price ticket ( back then it was age 12 and under) so I started taking my birth certificate to prove my age. 🤣

I think the quality of the movies was so much better in the 60s, 70s, and early 80s. The movies are not well produced, acted, or cast these days. They are also very expensive. You can go see live music or theatre for the cost of 2 movie tickets and popcorn and Cokes.

Katey you really made me laugh when you said you don’t like sitting in a dark room with a bunch of strangers and sometimes don’t even like it when you do know the people! Hilarious! Just had another thought. In the late 1940’s and through the 1950’s going to the movies on Saturday was a kind of tradition for city kids like me. It was an exciting couple of hours for post- WWII children. Popcorn was a bonus. And cartoons! There was no television early on , but by 1956 we had one. No more excitement about going to the Saturday morning movie double features.

Polar Express was based in my home town Grand Rapids, Michigan . The author was from Grand Rapids. The department store (Herpolsheimer) on the train ride were in the downtown area. They are very same ones that we seen as children. The beautiful Christmas displays in the windows and the Christmas lights. My Grandmother worked for one of the big department stores and she designed the Christmas displays. So naturally we had to see Grandma's window. We were poor also but that was a free memory.

I felt like a weird person for a while because I really don't like 2-3 hours in the dark theater, I want to bring my own snacks, I need to take a break, and I'd rather honestly be working on something or doing something productive. Plus there were a few movies I saw in the theater that I literally had panic attacks during because it's so big and loud and realistic, and the content was awful. I'd much rather be in my own home, with my own food, doing my own work while something plays in the background. It's cool to hear that other people are like this too!

The movie was good but ended sadly and when it was over the theater was silent, nobody was pushing and shoving and cutting in front of each other to get out. It was solemn and people showed respect for each other like I've never seen the general public do before. Later, I heard it got the same reaction all over the country. Glad I got to witness it!

That movie theater shooting happened here in Colorado a while back. I was working as a youth mental health counselor at the time we all came to the office early very nervous for the phone to ring that we had lost one of our youth in the shooting. Some called freaked out because they were about to go but changed their minds. That can be scary just thinking about the what ifs!" No one wanted to pick up the phone because we did not want to hear a parent say that their child did not come home last night. I understand what Katie is talking about.

Overall, going to the movies was something fun for me when I was a kid. My mom used to take my brother and me to see Disney movies. I've noticed, though, that I find it more of a hassle as an adult. I so related when y'all mentioned not being able to sit and do nothing for that long. I can't either. I usually sit and crochet, bead, or something as I watch TV or a movie, and I like the freedom to pause it in order to comment on something, or go to the bathroom, get a drink etc. As for current content, yeah, there's some newer stuff I've enjoyed but, like y'all, for the most part, I prefer older stuff more. I'm not a big fan of, what often feels like, to me, excessive violence or even just plain meanness that's in more current stuff these days. My favorite way to watch a movie is sitting down in my own livingroom, with my own preferred snacks and drinks, and a craft of my choice, and friends or family I'm comfortable with and watching whatever we want together. Does that make any of us backward or weird? I don't think so, it just confirms to me that we're all different and that's a good thing. Thanks for posting videos like this, though, as it's nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I’m a little late to this one, newcomer to the channel in general, and I’ve been watching you ladies all weekend. By the way Corie, your video on resentment yesterday really helped me at a time when I needed it. I really do feel like God works through people like the two of you, and when I watched the video where y’all went squirrel hunting with your dad I realized he and I are about the same age, and I was so happy for him, and I knew that he must be so fulfilled and proud of the girls that he raised. Anyway, back in the 80s go out to the movies was amazing. I live right on the Florida Alabama line, and it’s about a 45 minute drive down to Pensacola. There were movie theaters there, and back in the day it was a treat. We would go have dinner at Red Lobster, and then we would go watch a great movie in a clean theater with people like us. Now things are crazy. I haven’t been to a movie in years. There’s nothing out right now that I would care to watch, it’s all agenda driven garbage. There’s no art in it anymore, it’s all virtue signaling and politics. I mourn the loss of the theater experience, younger generations will never know how great it was. Anyway, I’m rambling. Thank y’all so much for what you do. God bless you and your family. ✝️❤️

I love going to the movies! The ones I go to are smaller theaters, you pick your seat when you pay for the ticket so all are assigned and they are big reclining style seats. Some movies are in 3D which is fun and I personally just love the big screen. As for being shot, I worried about it when I first heard about it but in all honesty I think that can happen anywhere. I don't know if this would put you on total overload but something I think you may like if you could deal with all the people is a place called Sight & Sound in Lancaster Pennsylvania. It is a live show of actors who depict stories from the Bible. I just saw the story of David which was amazing. The story of Moses is coming next year. They incorporate live animals in the show..

It was a great evening of good food, fellowship, and a film. My standard for a good movie is that it takes me somewhere I have never been before. I also feel that there are some films that definitely merit a LARGE screen. The Downton Abbey movies absolutely merited a large screen. In fact, for Downton Abbey fans…. Both films were an event. I do not like violent movies or animated movies.

My daughter has misophonia. She's 28. She can't handle listening to people eat popcorn or an apple, etc. So she can't go to movies very often. I didn't realize this was a real thing until she came home from a friend's house practically in tears because they were eating chips or something. I knew right then, it was something real if she would leave a friend's house like that. Now, there are very few decent movies. I prefer to stay home and either watch a DVD or a KZread video. We got rid of cable years ago. Even the commercials were bad.

Is your daughter on the autism spectrum? My daughter has the same issues with others eating or loud noises among other sensory issues. The sounds become too overwhelming for them.
