Why troubled Americans are leaving home and moving to Spain
📖 Discover Valencia: Your Essential Guide to Living and Loving Life in Spain
payhip.com/b/DKdBS
In this video I explore the possible reasons why many Americans who can not afford the life in the US are moving abroad. It is important to acknowledge that the reasons behind Americans leaving the United States are multifaceted and intricate. Although economic factors, political reasons may be a contributing, individuals and families are also seeking new experiences and opportunities overseas for personal, social, and cultural reasons. The desire to live abroad can stem from seeking a more serene and stable life, learning new languages and cultures, and a range of other factors. Although the United States will always be home to many, the appeal of personal growth, cultural immersion, and adventure will continue to inspire people to explore new frontiers.

Nice video (it came on my live feed, via algorithms. I assume). I lived in Spain, in the late 90s, when I was a Teen. Went to School there. España wasn't using the Euro. It was La Peseta.😊 I miss Paella, Chocolaté con Churros, bailando en Las Discotecas a cerca de Grandvia😢 However, I know I need to exit the US soon. My Mental state of mind is not doing so well. I need a new Country to explore.👍 Cheers for the video!😊

I think in your video you are mistaking "woke" as one of the problems that is making people leave America. It's the "woke" people that are wanting to flee the US. Many Spanish countries, including Spain, are "woke" paradises, aka very liberal and eyes open to the struggles and injustices faced by minorities, and very accepting of different people. Anti-woke people would never move to a country like Spain from the US which is becoming more anti-woke by the day.

I love the US. I lived in Europe. As a black person, Europe doesn't do it for me. I create my happiness. If where you live is too expensive, then move. It's a big country. The health care system can only be changed by Americans. We vote for these politicians who don't care about the American people. Obama tried to provide health care for Americans, but people fought against it. I wouldn't be surprised if some of those people moved out of the country. Only Americans can improve their lives here. You sound a bit bitter. I lived in Spain. The police watch crime taking place and do nothing. I've been there and done that. Europe is for Europeans, and I never felt comfortable there . Italy and Portugal are extremely racist. Spain is great, but the bureaucracy is too much for me. I realize that as a black person living in so-called white societies , I will always face racism. I prefer the people of Latin America. You can have Europe and its ever growing hate groups. Ciao!

On the topic of food another important and often overlooked point is how much crap they put in our food here in the US. Recently an article came out about the high amount of potassium bromate in the bread in the US. It's a contributor to cancer and diabetes and a number of other diseases. In Europe it's illegal to put that and several other damaging chemicals in food. So not only is food cheaper in Europe, it won't kill you like the food in the US does. It's a lose-lose situation here: the food makes us sick, and we can't afford the healthcare to treat our sickness.

Heck, I even had to do side hustles on top of working full time in order to make ends meet. I’m in constant fear of getting sick and having to owe thousands of dollars in medical bills. Loving and living in Spain and not forgetting Turkey. These are nice countries with rich histories and plentiful fruits and foods. At a affordable price. Well know capitals of the worlds are just not worth it. It is insanely expensive and gives nothing but stress. Sensible youths and retirees want peace and nature. No need to look further. Rural and village folks are good nature people too as they are not poisoned by greedy and selfish culture in the urban madness.
Oh so glad to have you back! Love your videos
If you are working remote definitely it can be a good choice for you guys at the moment. But if you plan to work for spanish companies you are going to be struggling in some cases, specially in big cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia or Bilbao. Salaries are quite low in Spain and rents are increasing, that means you are not going to have savings or easy access to buy a house. Also the new coming of remote expats workers from richer countries like USA are making some cities to suffer the gentrification and it makes everything expensive for local people, so that idyllic atmosphere where everything is cheap and accesible might disappear soon in the biggest cities.
What a great video, so informative for those trying to live in a wonderful place!😊
Well done, another eye opener
You are absolutely correct, I haven’t had health care for 13 years and I haven’t been able to see a doctor. The rents are skyrocketing and food is expensive. I have ten years before I can retire and I plan to retire in either Spain which is the country where my grandparents were from or I’ll retire in Italy. Retiring in the United States will be to expensive, so I’m leaving.

If you work and earn an income, it will not be that easy to go to a free health clinic. I can go to an emergency room and be treated and then I will receive a bill. Health care in America is super expensive and there are many people who cannot afford healthcare and so then go without. There are many good reasons for moving to Europe. However, the price of gas and food are not among them. They could be higher here than in the US. I need to get out of England and live in Spain, I love it over there, only 2 hours away. Brexit could be a problem for me tho.

I live in the States and I am citizen yet I would love to move to Italy, Portugal, or Spain but I don’t think it’s that simple or easy. I wish I know how
Gracias por compartir.
I LOVE how you use your beauty to enhance your message. You never over do it.
It might mean less luxuries to move to Spain but some people just want quality of life. Life passes by too fast in USA.
But how do people make a living there. Is it with their US savings or the ability to work remotely? I know there are good local jobs too but locals some want to go to US.
I just bought my 1 way plane ticket out of the U.S. On November 28th, I'm gone for good✌️.
How much do you get paid in spain.. what currency?
People from spain, portugal, italy.. Do not want americans or north europeans who pays a lot of money for flats, restaurants.. Local people can't live in the cities...
I was born in Puerto Rico and from what I can tell Spanish culture is still more similar to ours than US culture. I am thinking if traveling to Spain to get a taste of life out there. I am a junior data scientist so the right job is crucial however but I really just want to stop and smell the roses for once.

Yes, the opportunities I had as a new college grad in the 1990s, just don't exist for most young people today unfortunately. The American middle class has has shrunk considerably since then. The wealth of the rich has exploded and many middle class families have fallen into poverty as wages stagnated. Corporations has raped workers for their productivity while refusing to share a reasonable percentage of profits with workers AND refusing to pay into public funds.

Ugly Americans? It's the Brits who act like loud mouthed fools in European countries, not Americans. Americans are just kind of quiet and fat.
Thanks to you, prices are going up. Stay in the US.
YOUR CHANNEL IS VERY INFORMATIVE , EXCEPT NO WORD ABOUT COST OF LIVING ? I WOULD APPRECIATE A CHAPTER ABOUT THE TOPIC ! THANK U !
Be careful people. Living as a tourist is always fun .
Most of these Americans will probably stay the way they are and not truly assimilate into their new country. They probably also don't realize how difficult it is to assimilate and therefore stay in their expat bubbles. Good luck!
American retirees are will find themselves getting taxed in Spain whereas if they retired in France, those retirement accounts are taxes at the source (in the US). Just FYI.
Isn’t unemployment high in Spain? Everything starts from there in my opinion

The sad part is the high income taxes, $3500.00 a month minus 49% tax won't leave much to live.

@@nunoferreiramendes5432 There is not a 20% of IVA in most of the things you pay: basic food is 0 or 4, and for mortgage/rent, public transport, etc, you are not paying VAT. And if you are self employed you can even avoid to pay taxes for petrol, equipment, etc. So not even close to 49 neither 40%. This guy is lying. Anyway how much is VAT in other european countries?

@@nunoferreiramendes5432You do not know how IVA works, the IVA is an increased price over the products you buy, you already know the full price(including IVA) when looking at a product. IVA does not apply to your salary.
Another excellent video. I would comment if a person does stay in USA, avoid the large cities. However, even some formerly nice suburbs are being infested with crime now also. Spreads like a cancer. Difficult choices..... stay or move?

I've always been very patriotic about the US and still am because of the founding values but we are so far from actually being that. I don't want to sound like I dont want to work hard because I do but I can't stand the work culture in the US. I've watched my parents and grandparents lives just be all about working crazy hours until they're 65 and they're allowed to retire and finally enjoy life but that's only if you had the means to save money for it. It's disgusting that is what we consider life over here. There is little purpose for most people, they work until they die and everybody is depressed until then.
Spain? Affordable cost of living? I beg to differ. As for renting in any of the bigger cities, rents have skyrocketed too.
Can you still live on Social Security and/or Retirement money from the U.S. when you move to Spain? And if so, how?
@HertzRico

Most people live in spain with a salary around 1200€/month, that makes living awful if you go to a big city, but you will be well off in more modest cities. If you plan to come here to retire would be to live in a cheaper city/town and just move around, public transport like trains are cheap and go almost everywhere.
@patriciapuente3981

@@HertzRico who knows for how long that will stay like that though. With this new trend they will quickly become the “next Portugal”.
I know dozens of people who cannot afford to retire due to the price of health insurance and medical care.
Not sure what the $450 thumbnail is referencing...because a place for that price does not exist in Spain. The housing crisis also exists in Spain. Wages are low, and rents are high in comparison. People under the assumption they can move to Spain and live in luxury will be in for a rude awakening (unless they're rich and retired). Unless you're working remotely for a company, you're not going to easily find a job there (especially if you don't speak Spanish).
