They know you love and use your love against you. They don't want anyone to love you and they don't want you to love yourself either. They set you up to defend yourself over and over on and on....Be above it and do not defend yourself. Allow their remarks to go thru you as if they have no meaning.

He cast a dark shadow over any special occasion, Christmas was the worse time for him to cause upset, in 18 years I cannot remember an enjoyable Christmas. So true about ruining my day off to the point I stopped telling him I had a day off, it was easier. He destroyed my social life, I dreaded my work’s party, there was always a drama when I got home, I would spend the whole evening worrying about it!! Crazy way to live, life is wonderful now without the anxiety.

But I got used to it...used to expecting nothing.. bc it was just another day. Such a sad, one sided relationship. They only give you crumbs. And so many times I would be having a great day alone, and he would come in and ruin it. Wow

Christmas, Birthdays, Valentine's Day always a day to make sure you knew how little they ever cared about you. Not until my kids started telling him to take them to get me gifts did he ever get me anything. Funny thing is when I told him I wasn't throwing him a big party for his 50th 2 years ago he actually cried and got so depressed for weeks. I actually felt bad and decided to have one. Looking back he never even said thank you. Can't wait to start 2022 fresh! Andrew as always your videos are so genuine because you have lived all of this. Thank you for continuing to share your experiences with us. The comments that this community shares in response to your videos are so helpful in the healing process. My ex husband made my birthday about himself. My birthday was the day before Valentines Day but he always thought it was on Valentine's day. He wanted to make sure he got something "good" for Valentine's Day. It is exactly as it sounds. I have been happily single for 10 years and every day I am grateful to be away, because EVERYTHING for him revolved around one thing, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Unfortunately I somehow got stuck working with co-workers who were also malignant narcissists, as are my family members who hate me. Now I work from home in a new job, new state, away from all of those who have hurt me, but it takes SO EXTREMELY LONG to heal from this, a 15 year painful marriage, betrayals by family who rubbed it in my face that they embraced him and threw me and my kids away, and the co-workers who didn't want me to succeed or think I added any value. I want so badly to be free from the remnants of pain from it all. Seems I am always getting "triggered". Thank you for your videos. After 13 years away from the abusive marriage, and a year out of the toxic work place, I feel that I need support.

My ex narc who is now deceased, I didn't have the knowledge of narcs back then long time ago, came to my retirement party and made it about him 4 attention ignoring me. (He never held a steady job). That following week I had his 🎒 👔👕👖👞👟🎩and more out!! I was very very 😁😂😅happy. No more headaches🤕 from him or my job.🙌🙏.

So true. They don't understand true happiness, love, honor, integrity, truth, loyalty, honesty. Everything is a tool for their ego boost...EVERYTHING...including you! Mine would see me laughing with others or having too much fun even though it was hard to because I constantly had anxiety with him but anyways when he’d see me having too much fun he’d be the only one not laughing and he’d start an argument shortly after or say something rude in a “joking” manner. Every time I’d say I didn’t like the joke he’d say get your panties out your ass I’m joking you’re too sensitive etc. smh horrible

Very True Andrew. I couldn't have 1 minute of peace or happiness. Even if I stayed in another room watching a movie, he couldn't stand for me to be in peace. I refuse to be anyone's extention core or battery to recharge them. Draining my energy to recharge him is what he did. I was so depleted after that fakelationship. Never again! Thank you Andrew! After many years of mental and verbal abuse I got diagnosed with major depression. I finally found the courage with God's help to leave. I still struggle years later but I take one day at a time. Thank you so much Andrew. I didn't even know what a narcissist was until God showed me your videos.

I had a narcissist just flat out loudly call me an idiot when I was laughing with someone while mingling at work. Some of them are really just horrible people with zero respect.

I didn’t know who she was during those 15 years, but I could never understand why we couldn’t both be happy at the same time.

Everything you said in the video hit so close to home! Yes, when I think back to how my ex narc behaved, he always second guessed what I was doing- whether it was the clothes I chose to wear, how I responded to people in public and the things I wanted to do vs what he wanted to do. When we are at parties, he’s rarely by my side bc he’s so busy surfing around the room talking to everyone. And whenever I get a compliment from someone, he never validated or appreciated that something good was being said about me. I remember one time we had a dinner reservation at a restaurant and as the hostess was walking us to our table, she genuinely complimented me on how pretty I looked that evening and what my ex narc did was as soon as we were seated at our table, he wanted to leave the restaurant. He didn’t look happy and said, I hate this place and he stood up and made us leave. As I struggle through the healing process of my discard, sometimes on my bad days I ruminate over the “fun” times my ex narc and I had in our relationship BUT thanks to this video, I’m reminded again of all the dysfunction and abuse that was there as well. Thank you! 🙏

Every time i had fun with friends, the next day was paying day to the narc. Whether she charged me with a pout or tantrum or she went away to do things outside. I couldnt had a good day with friends cause i has to foreknow that it will come stuck with a bad day of toxicity from narc.

Now everything is clearer, but those episodes are full pf narc circle- seduce, invalidation and discard- i felt miserable cause i wanted to share my happiness with her but she shut downs to it. Never again i invited friends to the house(cause it was her house her rules, that strong n harsh). Also i couldnt had femenine (woman) friends, those werent allowed. So i got loner, no more reunions at home, no friends.

I wasn’t allowed to talk to people when out at all. He didn’t take me out at all either. If I took to long at the local shop he would question me and accuse me of seeing someone behind his back . He went out one evening to meet up with his friends, so I went out to a friends house. When I got home and he realised I had had a good time he threw me across the room and broke 2 of my ribs . Christmas and birthdays were a nightmare, he always kicked off . One Christmas he took all the decs down Christmas Day afternoon . I played the piano for 20 years, he sat me down and told me that what I played was shit. Then when he learnt the guitar he was just awesome and everyone heard about it. I lost weight, like 4 stone. When my sister commented on it he said he hadn’t even noticed. When he lost weight he made a big fuss about how he had to pull a notch in his belt. Now I see, constant competition.

No Christmas presents or birthday presents but asked what my budget for theirs was? The only difference from what you share .. I got a lot of “I appreciate you” “thank you for this life” “love you 5 times a day” … but still I did everything. And then she could get so mean once in a while. I could never be that mean. It messes with you trying to understand it all. Thanks Andrew!

You are so right. They don't want you to enjoy your life. Even if you are one of their children. They hate to hear you laugh, or see you smile. Your happiness annoys them. You're comment about how they treat you on your birthday was so right on. When I was a kid on my 14th birthday my mother gave me a fake birthday cake. It was a sponge covered with icing from a can. She and my brother thought it was a hilarious joke. And the joke was on me. After they stopped laughing, I asked where the real cake was. (Stupid of me to assume she would bake a real cake, or buy one for me for my birthday.) Her answer... "There isn't one." Then gave me a hateful look full of arrogance and contempt. Just a year before she had been in the hospital having major surgery. For months I waited on her and took care of her and did all of the housework for her. I even used my allowance money to buy her a beautiful birthday cake. I Never got a drop of kindness or gratitude in return. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. I still don't know why she always gave out hate instead of love. We have to make a choice. She chose to give out hate and envy all the time. She eventually died from an intestinal blockage. I figured all that hate that she carried inside killed her. Hate is a powerful force. Love is even more powerful. The bible says, "He who doesn't love his fellow man, shall in no way enter into the kingdom of Heaven." So, I'm trying to be a person who gives love instead of hate. I was raised by a narcissist, but I refuse to be one. I try to do a good deed whenever I can. To help someone whenever I can. I smile whenever I can. I want to be giving, kind and thoughtful. Not like the narcissists in my world.

I was once with my nex at my apartment when I saw my neighbor struggling to get a, bunch of boxes and bags of trash to the dumpster. I asked her if she wanted help and proceeded to go help her. Guess what the narc did? He stood there with his hand on his hip watching like he was so annoyed. I said aren't you going to help us? He begrudgingly attempted to help. Later when I asked him why he didn't help he said, I have to be in the mood to help.

Oh my goodness you quoted my narc husband to the letter 😱. Thank goodness he discarded me and our kids and left. I've learnt so much through your channel I'm so greatful. He was the happiest person when bad things happened to me, when I was sad because of a sick father, when I didn't get the project I wanted, when I had to cancel lunch with a friend because of work,… he was never happy when beautiful things happened to me… he fed on my sadness and suffering when I tried to save our relationship he enjoyed watching me suffer and cry… I never knew such people existed… thank you Andrew for another view at the truth… slowly I put myself on my feet, it's very hard… but in the end everything will be fine… love and light 🙏💫❤️

The last time I heard…your doing what you want…I said I’m doing what I want..I caught him keying my vehicle. He was doing it about a month so when I saw him doing it, I parked my vehicle diagonal so he couldn’t fit his vehicle under the 2-car carport. He said we are having bad weather, could you move your vehicle…I lit into him. You did what you wanted so I’m doing what I want…deal with it. Wasn’t a pretty site but I’d had enough. The neighbors noticed but I didn’t care. So glad he’s gone.

Every holiday and my birthday he would say they are bull! Every time I came in a good mood he would do something to ruin it for me. What a demonic person. Yet, for his birthday life was important. I am so grateful to be away from his energy. I feel so different even though he's forced me into bankruptcy and to find a new home. I pray to get through this in one piece. I rely on my good past and intellect to fight through these hard barriers. Im going forward no matter. Im out of jail now...the narcissistic jail.

This particular message is so on point I'm amazed. You have identified and summarized so many of my own experiences. Could NOT understand why he seemed angry on my birthday. Treated me so badly that day and I knew NOTHING about Narcissism which is what I was experiencing at that time. Oh how I thank God for getting me out of this. Thank you for teaching.

Completely 💯so true..lots of times I couldn't be myself..be happy..from put downs on my appearance..to closing doors on me when singing in the kitchen despite me being a good singer for 42 yrs..even disturbed me when trying to listen to music with headphones 🎧 on 😐devalued my Artwork and Writing so would give it up..whinging and moaning on special occasions..hated Christmas..the list goes on..I ended up with no confidence and if he let me have some back..like encouraging me to sing again on Karaoke 🎤 I would sure pay in the days after..stone walled etc..always drama 🙄 against me giving to charities..thats another one..unbelievable 😒 Another excellent one Handsome Andrew 😍 😀 Blessings from the UK 🇬🇧 😇❤🙏

I think you may be absolutely right Andrew. My entire immediate and close family has been using silent treatment basically all this year on me. What’s strikingly odd is that in May this year I had one of the happiest moments in my entire 21 years of living. I walked the stage with my Bachelor’s degree. Of course, it was much well earned. It almost seems the silent treatment campaign is meant to prevent me from being sincerely happy and celebrating my success.

Yea. I have a narcissistic “friend” who whenever I share something happy or am doing well she shoots it down. Tells me what I should or should not be doing. Of course she knows best even though she isnt me or doing my life. I stopped engaging last time and have not heard from her pathetic standpoint of needing to shoot down someone’s happiness. I never did that with her. And I would not dare tell her what to do as if I know better. This one point just confirms with the others how narcissistic she is. Of course, she is perfect though, never to blame, and with not a single issue or blemish.

There are Narcissistics who actually will play nice to everyone in face, I will point out the birthday. They hate that it is your day so Coverts have 10 times more hidden tricky way to play. They will do something nice enough to talk about how amazing they did , just for you, how much money they spend just for you and how grateful we have to be that they took their time for you, your day all the sudden becomes their birthday, they will even pretend in front of guests how great they did. Second i will point out about meeting other people, in store or events. They will try to constantly talk and talk so everyone else stays quiet, and since they topically are smart, and they constantly train themselves how to gain more from others it seems they are just nice people, until you catch them. Oh how much they hate to show real face, that kills them! If you know their secrets you are threat! Remember dont make them feel that you know anything. If you dig on them do it quietly. Document everything because going against them will be war for life, I promise.

For multiple birthdays mine totally had a fake emergency and went and saw the new supply. I was home alone; I was so naive. Thank you for your videos, and for helping me see how messed up the relationship was. I’m now moving on when I didn’t think I could.

My last birthday with family , went out for dinner , I bought Only my daughter got me off to the side , and inquired , what's wrong with this picture Dad ? So I was able to demonstrate , and notice they think nothing of it . So why did I do it? For my daughter's sake , I wasn't the only one subjected to their thoughtless inconsiderate , toxic behaviors . I was making amends , breaking the cycle ! Live life on purpose ! Can't beat it !

He did tell me how to dress, if I talked to a waitress on my way back to the table from the bathroom he would ask me what was that about. He would start a fight with me every day and tell me that I hate him and don't want him around that I don't care about him when I would tell him that he was wrong he would tell me to show him then. Towards the end I started treating him just like he had been treating me I was gaslighting him and my responses to him were word salads. He didn't want me to be happy bc happy people attract other happy people and he was afraid of being replaced.

They will try to fool you into believing they support the things you enjoy and they too are into growth and development…. However once you live with them, the dupe is up and they will do whatever they can to prevent you from doing any of the things that are soul nourishing and they know you enjoy. They become like the school yard bully that believe everyone admires them, is on their side and thinks they are cool when in fact this is not the reality. They embarrass themselves and the people around them. Travesty. Thanks Andrew for the zen and great content. :)

You are so right Andrew. That's what he used to say. I'm normally happy and I don't think he likes that.

Had to put my foot down on punk/joke gifts from my SIL for every occassion. She would chortle b4 I even opened the gift. Told my brother enough in Jan , told him it all goes in the trash as i get out the door, and it is very hurtful. Mind you these people do not do this to any other family member. They are also very well off, and show lavish gifts to others. SIL also started this with my Father. He was really offended. He would calmly say "What the he## is this, now?"

I'm pretty sure my grown 38-year-old son is a narcissist. He gets jealous when his children and I have a good time together. He has ruined my last vacation. He always wants to start an argument. He seriously brings up bad parenting choices I made 30 plus years ago. I have apologized so many times. He refuses to go to counseling with me. I've gladly helped him financially over the years, so he doesn't have to struggle as much. He's my only child, but I'm done with the nonsense. I have to start thinking about my health and happiness.

Thank you Andrew for your videos. I'm finally feeling I'm on the downhill side of my recovery from my narcissistic relationship. Your videos are very very accurate how narcissist treat us, but they also seem more calming than other videos regarding these narcissistic relationships. My narcissist threw me a birthday party which sounds great until he stopped speaking to me because, he said, I didn't act excited enough. It ruined the rest of my birthday that he ignored me. Keep up the good work, and helping others cope with these abusive relationship.

Yes Andrew, one's happiness bubble is always burst by the Narcissist, because their supply being happy ,unless it's happy to serve them, makes them angry and thinking, " Why don't I feel that happy?" Lmao, everything you say is right on the mark. Lol, I want to tell you one important thing dear, and that is transcendental meditation is wonderful when recovering from this, and remembering that our identity is not actually survivor of a Narc., it's part of our experience but our identity is an eternal being or eternal consciousness , yes this stuff is VERY IMPORTANT , these videos, getting educated, I just wanted to let you know personally ❤and anyone else who can use it that meditation helps very much. 🙏💞💞💞❣❣❣ Nameste

I have to share with you. I paid for a strangers meal one time. It was a dad with three small kids. I had some extra money because I just got my tax refund and the little kids tugged at my heart because they reminded me of my three kids. I could have never guessed how that would blow up in my face. My ex was livid. Number one, I didn’t ask him if I could do that first. Number 2, the customer probably thinks I was hitting on him and I disrespected my ex. He was so angry he jumped out of my car while it was moving and then pretended to be a cop and text me saying he was hit by a car. Anyway, I guess that was the narcissistic injury that broke the camels back. He discarded me the next day.

You got the Disneyland version. Mine was nasty Jealous. All I had to do was be in the room and I was guilty of looking at the women with Lusty eyes. I couldn't talk to people, make friends or conversation. All I could do was sit in the corner and look at the floor or ceiling. Didn't matter where it was store, church, party, park. Then raging nasty tantrum all the way home. She could look at men all she wanted because she said her intent was not lusty like mine. Thumbs up to always on the phone hovering people on facebook. Of course she could have all the men she wanted putting likes on her pictures because she didn't have lusty intent with them. I couldn't have any female friends.

My happy deed for the day yesterday: I was out walking and when a gentleman had fallen out of his wheelchair, I was able to help him by: asking if he was okay, steadying his chair while he got back in. And he had such a great disposition. He said thank you, and I said, "chin up". He had a smile on his face. I had a smile also. The sun was shining. Such a beautiful day. And he went on his way happily. And so did I.

Andrew, I want to thank you for your honest and informative videos. I have recently ended a one year "relationship" with a narcissist. I am trying to learn and understand what happened. Everything about my year with that person is confusing and painful. I feel so foolish and don't know how to move forward. I have been used and abused. I have been beaten down mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The trauma of it all has caused me to be physically ill as well. I want to heal and be healthy again.
