Why Taking Babies To Disney World Is A Huge Mistake!

Фильм және анимация

Disney World is a magical place... or it used to be like 20 years ago. Now it's an overpriced nightmare full of crying babies and monster strollers. The lines are long, the rides are old and the babies never stop crying. Something has to be done!

I was a cast member in the summer of ‘94 (yes, I’m old) and babies at Disney World is miserable for everyone involved; parents, other guests, the employees- the babies themselves. Ridiculous.

We were in Disney/Universal in November with my husband's family, which included 2 babies. We went and did our own thing, because we're child-free and still have some sanity left. When we were around these babies, though, they were either passed out and not experiencing anything or screaming/crying. I get that parents think it's cute to see their baby react to things, but it also doesn't make sense to lug them around when they don't even seem to be comprehending what's going on. It just all seems so stressful and unnecessary. Hell, one of the babies' parents left their kid with their grandparents so they could go on rides. I always see parents say that it doesn't matter since they'll remember everything for their babies, but that comes off as so selfish. Yes, drag your baby/toddler around in the Florida heat and overstimulate them so YOU can make memories... Thank God my husband and I both agree that if we have kids, they're waiting until they're at least 6 to go to these parks.

As a former cast member, this is why I quit. Nobody who came into that park looked happy to be there and we were actively putting parents in debt day after day. It got sickening.

My family and I went to Disney last Spring, and it was absolutely stressful as hell. We opted to get the Genie+ fast lane thing for each day we were there, on top of park hopper. It was so stressful having to wake up at 5:45am to even have the CHANCE to reserve all of our fast lane entries, and then have to reserve wait times for rides late afternoon or even night. I will say for the less popular rides it was decent but that brings up the question of is paying the extra 30 dollars a person per park even worth it at that point. But in all reality I do not have much interest in Disney due to the crap they keep putting out, once Universal opens their new park with IPs that still put out good stuff I'll be switching. Hell Universal how it is now is still way more enjoyable. I cant even imagine families who do this with having babies in strollers that cant do anything but cry for being uncomfortable in that heat for 10 hours.

uh we used to have unspoken rules like the ones you alluded to. but at a certain point parents became overly entitled about their kids and what they can do. combine that with society deciding that being inconsiderate of others is totally fine and you get a prefect storm scenario. it used to be common sense to not take babies/very young children to movies. and if you did, you understood that if they started crying and disturbing people, you would have to leave as to not ruin the movie for everyone else. it was called common decency. and unfortunately we simply don't have as much of that going around anymore

I can’t even stand being in a shopping line behind or next to a screaming child. Children need to be gradually introduced to the public sphere. If they can’t handle being in a store or even a freakin museum, they are not ready for an amusement park. At least not until they have some semblance of self-control and self-awareness. I think 7-8 is a good age to bring your kids to Disney. Maybe at the end of 5th grade when they’re around 10-11.

Hey remember, if you wanna bring kids to Disney, make sure they are far far too young to even understand what the place is/too young to actually even interact with the park, but also make sure they are extremely extremely extremely sickly, soo sickly in fact that they can't even be moved an inch without screaming in agony. Got a 6 week old baby with colic and a severe double ear infection?? DISNEY IS THE PLACE FOR YOU

Gotta be honest with you-- I don't blame you for feeling as you do about rugrats at Disney or similar parks; this, also to be honest, would be along the lines of taking crying babies shopping at grocery stores and making them sit near to forever in shopping carts, while you take 1000 years of sweet time trying to determine, say, which brand of sugar would be the best for putting in a cake or something (grocery store shoppers don't need to hear it, and you don't need to have your ears assaulted by screaming babies any more either).

Haven’t been back since everything closed down in 2020, but I know that things have largely been changing for the worse ☹️ and yeah, I largely agree that it’s bizarre when parents bring their babies (especially when they don’t have any other age appropriate kids)
