As someone who specializes in Disney Parks I loved hearing your rant in Genie Plus. It’s a terrible system and even worse was the previous system worked perfectly and it was only changed to get a quick cash grab from desperate families who don’t want to wait in the lines

Also at 16:55 you say it’s been here since the 90’s but it literally was made 3 years ago. Disney has became super cheap the past few years and usually creates stuff the cheaper way for the theme parks to save money for the entire company.

Just wait until epic universe opens if you think universal is better now. The back to the future ride was amazing. I’m still upset they got rid of it for the simpsons. The original King Kong ride was terrifying as a kid. The new one is pretty good though. At least the first time.

I went to Disney and Universal January 2022 as my dad and I did the Disney Marathon. Which was the most fun out of the 3 days we were at Disney. But this is how I explain Disney to people. It’s essentially a giant mall with an expensive entrance fee. Universal all the way. Like why can’t Disney make another park for older age. Especially since they have fox (aliens, predator, other stuff).

The family and I went to Universal last year and loved it. We liked way better than Disney. The express pass there is the bomb! If you stay at a Universal Hotel it is part of the package which is nice. We loved ET too! It felt so nostalgic and well done. Also Adam, if you and the family go back and it’s hot weather, I highly recommend the Universal water park Volcano Bay. That was a great break in the action from the theme parks and a lot of fun.

Yeah universal did the fast pass right. One flat fee and you can use it on any ride you want without having to worry about getting a return time.

My family went to Disney world last January and this is video is soooo accurate. The genie pass is a piece of !@%;. Every single DAY that thing had ZERO spots available. We spent HOURS in line all day and it was a nightmare. The magic of that place is a dead headless corpse. I know we weren’t forced to go but to purposefully jack up the line wait times to push people to pay for the genie pass is unconscionable.

Disney world used to be incredible from what I remember back in the 90s. the streets with the castle were bustling with characters, parades, countless stage performances, now its all dull and dead. barely any characters walking around, ect

Just to let you know, Jurassic actually has three rides: the Velociocoaster you went on, the River Adventure (was probably closed when you went because it does that in January) and Pteranadon Flyers.

The Flyer ride is for like 6 and under. I honestly don’t recall seeing anything for a River ride. The other water attractions were open. Bummer if I overlooked it!

And yeah, Pteranadon Flyers is for kids, but you can get on it as an adult if you have a kid with you, so it's sort of a running joke about people who go to Universal needing to kidnap a child to experience it. Never been on it myself, I just want to cross it off, haha.

@@AdamDoesMovies it may have been closed for refurbishment when you went. It was down recently for some updates.

Last time I took the family to Florida which was 2019, we all agreed that Universal is a much better experience than Disney now; and that's the fourth time my wife and I have gone together. This was the first time with our daughter who was 7 at the time. We already decided we are gonna stay at universal and MAYBE hit Disney World for a day or two.

I've been to Disney numerous times before the pandemic. Disney has lost its magic IMHO. Universal is so much better. Great rant Adam!

I missed the Jaws ride too 😢 but it still exists in Japan's Universal 😃

We did Disney is 2014 and planned for a year when they had the old days pass system, booking restaurants with the dinning plan, etc. Did Universal on a whim April of 2021 (so over the COVID restrictions in my state at the time 😂) and we’ve been back 5 times with another trip booked for Dec (kids are now 12 and 9), zero planning and we had a great time. Yes we missed stuff but honestly had no clue until I got back and started watching KZreadrs lol. Premier hotels include the express for your whole party for the full day of check in thru full day of check out.

@@denieshaclowers2485 my mom was a travel agent and did the bulk of the planning for us. She took off her commissions in the total cost, I used my Target discount to buy Disney gift cards to pay for most of the trip also (saved about 12% just doing this). Used a travel agent for our first Universal trip but she didn’t specialize in the theme parks so couldn’t give us pointers (but I knew that when I reached out to her too, I like doing my own research where I can). Biggest thing for me in the Disney vs Universal comparison of our personal trips was Disney you HAVE to plan further out in advance if you want to the full magical experience (haven’t had to do genie+ so I can’t speak to that but it doesn’t seem appealing to me). For our Universal trip we literally decided what we wanted to have for dinner day of and booked it that afternoon and was able to cancel/change easily if we were running late or changed our minds. We could go with zero planning and have a good time.

Universal is blowing disney out of the water these days. Now what's epic universe just around the corner it's going to be amazing

My biggest gripe with Disney is that they are not taking advantage of some of their best properties and instead relying on their nostalgia rides plus some mega-franchises to pull people in. Big Hero 6 and Wreck it Ralph would be so cool, but instead we get Avengers campus and a bunch of 50 year old attractions. Not all their new stuff is bad, Star Wars and Avatar are quite good, but their progress is so damn slow

Planning to go to Universal Hollywood this year for the first time, went to Disneyland many times and its the same here- old, boring rides with incredible long wait time for any decent attractions.

Adam, I'd highly recommend Busch Gardens Williamsburg in VA if you get the chance, not only do you get a lot of great thrill rides & coasters, but the theming is well done too!

As a passholder I agree with Magic Kingdom. It’s pretty and all but that park needs an update really bad. The park feels kindve run down and all of the attractions are so old

I remember going to Hollywood Studios and there was this ride my friend was begging me and my group to go on. We were hesitant, but we agreed. Waited in line for what felt like an eternity. 90 degrees. We finally reached the description of the ride and it said 40mph. To give you an idea, 40 mph is the general speed limit in my hometown. I was bored to death on this ride. Of course my friend was hopping and hollering and I’m like “How are you enjoying this…”

24:05 The Jurassic Park area also has the river adventure and another ride for the kids called Pteranadon Flyers. It definitely feels like your luck was kind if bad if Kong was delayed 4 times in a day, but I guess that sometimes happens. When I went the last couple of times, I have had experiences with delays, but they were pretty nuch kind of quick. I can list sime of the delays. One that I remember is the Cat in thd Hat was delayed, so we went to One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and by the time we were done with that ride, the Cat in the Hat was running again. Another ride i have experienced a delay with in the same park was Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. I was in the queue when they played an announcement that it had a brief delay and luckily in about 5 minutes or less it was back up and they made a new announcement saying it was open again. Those are really the only experience I have had with delays at Universal. Maybe when I was on the app I would see a ride delay, but usually when I checked it again it was running.

also the prices on merchandise are insane. paid about 85 bucks on a Mickey Mouse ears head band. no idea why I did that, kinda my fault there, but still

Damn too bad u didn’t get to go on the Hagrid ride. If u ever go back, I suggest going on the ride later at night before park close because the line will say it’s long but it’ll really be about an hour or so.

Next Rant: *Adam vs Disney Ride Animatronics*

One of those Harry Potter rides traumatized one of my sons from ever liking rides again. There were dementors involved. I loved the mess out of it myself. Way before kids, I was lucky enough to experience BTTF. Isn't that what became the Simpsons? (which I haven't been on). I agree, Disney was boring the second time, even a decade or more ago.

Did you watch The Bourne Stuntacular? You definitely should on your next trip.

Jaws was pretty cool, had a fun explosion towards the end. Got to ride it as a kid way back in 2006. I always enjoyed sea world and universal over Disney. Disney was boring , and crowded

When epic universe opens you should just go to the 3 universal parks and the water park disney is just worse that universal nowadays

It's true that Universal has really improved over the years with additions like the Velocicoaster. In the beginning, the day they really scared Disney was when they beat them out for the contract to build a Harry Potter land. However, I cannot wait for Epic Universal to open. It could spell doom for Disney because looking at this year's crowd projections vs reality, July 4 was supposed to be the biggest day of the month for Disney. However, video after video showed a park that was half full. Disney is failing and Bob Eager Beaver just can't hack it. He really should be fired but I guess the shareholders think his crazy mismanagement is worth it. They still seem to enjoy living with their heads buried in the ground...

Used to be a huge Disney fan and opposed to any other theme park (due to lack of theming and atmosphere). Ever since I visited universal, and the addition of Genie+, I became more enthusiastic about different parks. Disney passes are gone, just got a platinum pass for USH.

I've been only to universal studios hollywood many times out of all the universal parks in the world. And I have way more fun there than at disneyland.

I've only been to a few theme parks in my life but I went to Universal Studios in Orlando with my cousins last year. My cousin is a huge roller coaster guy and he said the Velocicoaster was the best rollercoaster he's ever been on. We also waited in line for the Hagrid ride and it was super cool but I agree about the waits. Also a bummer the fast pass doesn't cover the new rides.

Unlike Di$ney Universal wants everyone to be able to have a chance to ride the new and/or most hottest ride on property. I think that is better than to ask of a huge upcharge so only the 1% can ride it. When demand goes down it will be added to the service. I think that is perfect as those front in line passes are very expensive but also aren't very limited (unlike Disney) or you can get the pass free when you stay at 1 of their premium resorts.

​@Darth Dorkimus Prime Even if you watch videos of VelociCoaster online, it still doesn't really give you a good sense of what the ride feels like imo. From the POV it doesn't look that crazy but when you're on it it sure is. Also that thing has a ridiculously high throughput, the line is always moving so it really doesn't feel as long as it otherwise would. Even still, if you're outside the main building in the outdoor queue, you can still get on the ride in like 30 to 45 mins. Absolutely crazy in a good way.

I tell people do not take a baby to a theme park....it's too hot....too crowded...too over stimulating for them. We love Hollywood Studios...we also enjoy Universal. It really depends.

I played the dice in Space Mountain once, never again.

Glad you and your family had such a nice time you definitely deserve it! I live in California so I've been to the Hollywood Universal Studios several times and I agree. I love the Harry Potter and Simpsons areas the best.

I remember going to universal as a kid & the jaws ride broke down while we were on it. They gave us handicapped passes for the day, it was pretty sweet

The simpsons ride is almost identical to Back 2 the Future. just reskinned. Sorry you didnt get to sit in the DeLoreon though. It was epic.

@@AdamDoesMovies it’s a water boat ride that gets you soaked. A lot like jaws with some impressive animatronics throughout it that takes you through the events of the movie. It also ends in a huge 84-foot drop with a cool end sequence. So if you plan on getting on with your kids just make sure they can handle drops but you probably already know that lol. And buying some towels will help too!

I find it funny how some people call Disneyland/world a "once in lifetime experience" and that's supposed to be high praise, when In my mind I'm thinking "okay, I went there when I was eight so there's no reason to go back" 🤣

Couldn’t agree more with your rant. I live near the parks and have APs to the big three. Disney and Sea World I’m at maybe once every six months (Epcot for Food and Wine festival) but I’m at Universal about once a week. And I never tire of it. I’ve found the overall Universal atmosphere to be so much better than Disney. And for grown up fun you must do Universal Halloween Horror Nights. Outstanding.

My family and I went to both Universal and Disney over the last two years and I agree that Hollywood Studios is probably the worst one (and to be honest everyone just goes there for Star Wars). We had a pretty crappy time at animal kingdom since we had to wait for like 1-3 hours each and every ride in the humid Florida summer with no shade at all. The immersive Avatar ride was awesome however and the nature and fake nature were also really beautiful. Magic kingdom is probably my favorite since the day we went, we had short lines, low temps and I thought most of all the rides were very nostalgic and well made (even though I thought my head might get lopped off on space mountain). I love Epcot for the science and culture too. I can see where you come from with Universal, they do seem to care more and put in more effort but I think I just generally prefer realistic rides over the 3D ones. Idk I think Disney should update some things but I’d like them to keep a few of the good old rides. Keep up the great work Adam, your channel is amazing and you’re one of the few creators that actually give an honest opinion or perspective and I appreciate you and what you do.

Does anyone know of any plans -- announced or rumored -- regarding new, major attractions being added to either the Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure theme parks between now and 2025? I realize that UEU is on the horizon. But the description of this video claims "Disney has done virtually nothing to bring their parks up-to-date with the times". So, what is comin to USF and IOA to keep them "up-to-date with the times"?

Personally Forbidden Journey is the great ride every made as of now. Velocicoaster is better than Hagrid’s

I appreciate your opinion and agree on some things, however I think your being a little unfair about the “new” stuff at Disney. They have a ton of new stuff. Ratatouille and guardians coaster just opened at Epcot. Tron coaster is opening at magic kingdom. Galaxies edge and Toy Story land, runaway railway.. tons of new rides. Part of magic kingdoms charm is the old classics. Ppl still love Peter Pan’s flight even tho it’s old because it’s a original ride that walt wanted. Same with pirates. I fully respect if u think they are boring, but I absolutely love them

Also universal has definitely got the jump on them since Covid and is trying a lot more new stuff. Also Disney has become a lot more cheap and soulless within the past few years. So if someone says they prefer universal over Disney world then I totally understand

I love a good Disney rant. Disney so deserves it. They have rested on their laurels for DECADES and continue to do nothing to increase capacity. To my knowledge many of their best creatives keep going to Universal where they can be part of something great!

I'm more of a meat and potatoes guy when it comes to amusement park rides.Cedar Point, Knotts Berry Farms, and even Six Flags are always a better time than anything from Disney or Universal. I thought Disney parks were lame in my pre teens. Universal is better than Disney by far basically because they have more 3-D rides. In my opinion nothing is better than a physical roller coaster ride that's traveling a 100 miles an hour. You can keep all that studio themed crap.

@@AdamDoesMovies I almost forgot a few years ago I went to that exact semi Medieval or older times restaurant you referred. You are very correct. The food as more akin to The Cheesecake Factory quality which is solid for sure in a theme park and the price wasn't to shabby at all. That was a good experience and I 100% agree Universal is better. Universal is like a kid who really really has to try to be great and Disney is like a kid who was once talented who is heavily resting on past accomplishments for years ago.

9 minutes into the video... WHAT IS HAPPENING! sure sounds like you spent more than week at amusement parks with the kids...

Velocicoaster, hagrids, mummy, Gringotts, hulk, Spider-Man, etc are probably better than all the Disney stuff. Disney has some okay nighttime shows but it’s not as good as the Bourne one.

The last time I went to a Disney park was Hollywood studios in September right after they stopped doing times for Rise of the Resistance and before genie+ and lightning lane started and had a blast.
