So sad Suzume dint make the list and also super surprised Godzilla minus 1 is that low, however this was my first full time year watching you Dan and honestly it’s been a huge breath of fresh air finding your channel, there’s hardly anyone making good movie content out there anymore, most film content on KZread is made to anger you and tell you why the film industry is ruined and what not, so seeing you being very genuine of both the positive and negative issues is something I really really enjoy, cheers to another year Dan

I have a similar list but my top film of the year is The Iron Claw. I was really shocked by how good that film was and how good Zac Efron was in it. My wife and I actually cried in the film. Not just a tear or two I'm talking cried like a baby and I have really never had a movie effect me quite like it did in a long time.

However, my Top 2 movies are ones that I would never would have seen if it weren't for your recommendations in the channel. D&D was just a fun time and I've rewatched it so many times with my family who I have a campaign group with. I also would have never seen Are You There God? It's Me Margaret but man did I really connect with the movie once I gave it a shot after your summer recap. I personally found her spiritual journey aligning very close to my own and it goes to show how you can relate any story as long as the characters are at the center of it. Here's to 2024, Dan! 🎉

Thanks for the list! I've got a list of stuff to watch which is great. Everything you said about Spiderverse were my thoughts exactly. I left wanting to watch it again immediately. It was such an amazing ride that it left me in awe. It was funny, it was sad, it was meta, it was everything that not only an animated movie could be but a Marvel movie could be. I think it's worth noting that over the course of the last two years...we've had movies about Classical Music! As a fan of the genre...it's just awesome. TAR was amazing and Cate throwing out names like MTT (Michael Tilson Thomas) was a great inside baseball kind of thing. Then we have a film about Lenny B! And NYC isn't NYC w/o Lenny B! AND they were two films oddly featuring Mahler! Finally...sorry about the 'Noles man. And that's from a 'Cane. I know y'all were 20 players down...but nobody wants to see that kind of a game much less have in the history books. (Also...kind of karmic perhaps it was in Miami!!)

Thank you for another great year, Dan! And when you said your " weird " perspective, I'd honestly never thought of it that way - informed, amusing, logical, fair...but I never once thought weird :-)

Solid list my man. Hey look I’m glad you loved The Creator and you connected with it, I just wish I was on the same wavelength. Visually impressive, but I found the characters underwritten but that’s me. Maestro also I liked but didn’t love, just wish the narrative was more focused, it was little disjointed. But some of the other films (from what I’ve seen) I agree: Oppenheimer, Godzilla, Spiderverse, Past Lives, The Holdovers, those are on my best list. As far as the Worst, I didn’t see Blood and Honey and Knights of the Zodiac and I have zero interest to check them out, Rebel Moon I agree wholeheartedly, and The Marvels I definitely didn’t dislike it as much as you did, honestly in terms of the mid/bad comic book movies this year, I was entertained by it than Aquaman 2 (mostly because of the leads), I remember moments of it compared to Shazam 2, and I didn’t hate many elements of it compared to The Flash and Quantumania, but it is an average movie and could’ve been better if it didn’t feel rushed. Just doesn’t scream *Worst of the Year* for me. Honestly I’m surprised Meg 2 or Expendables 4 didn’t make your list unless you forgot them.

So glad you acknowledged the wonderful Theater Camp! It's up for 3 Independent Spirit Awards (YAY! ) but am crossing my fingers also that the SAG Awards give it props for Best Ensemble and that there's the possible Oscar nod for the sweet "Camp Isn't Home" number. It is such a charmer.

I'm so happy you share my love of THE CREATOR, I thought it was one of those surprising Sci Fi gems that initially I thought "I'll give it a shot" and ended up loving. I can't remember another sci fi movie in recent memory that made me a fan like this movie did. Perhaps some older examples I could cite over the last 10-15 years are Arrival and District 9 and I think The Creator belongs in their company and I hope it receives some of the acclaim and accolades those 2 examples enjoyed and it finds enough success to continue stories in that world.

Thanks for this year, Dan! I found out about Screen Junkies far too late so I was excited to follow you into your new channel this year. I appreciate watching your box office numbers and reviews, our tastes don't always line up but I always find your reviews and critiques coming from a place I can understand. Case in point, I found Creator to be just simply okay. But that comes from my own personal feelings of finding clear errors in the Japanese text that can only come from having zero native check, making me question the whole movie's aesthetic and why Edwards chose to use so much Asian culture when it's not truly reflected in the movie's themes and story, thus making it feel like it was just a dressing to make it ~*~foreign~*~ But that's just my personal feelings, and nothing to do with the movie from a technical standpoint. I still appreciated a wholy original sci-fi story with beautiful visuals and great acting! Anyway, thank you again for this year and I look forward to sticking with your channel next year!

Yesterday, I went to see Dogman by Luc Besson and it immediately became my favorite movie of the year. Oppenheimer was great, but Dogman took me on an emotional journey that this year is only rivaled by The Boy and the Heron. I read that Dogman is scheduled for a 2024 release in the United States. Don`t listen to Rotten Tomatoes, it`s a great movie.

Hi Dan! I want to thank you for all your work; I think I started to watch your videos in 2022, but it was in 2023 that I really began to watch them all, without missing a single one. I'm a little sad, because I really didn't see many movies in theaters this year (just Godzilla Minus One, Oppenheimer, Barbie, Spiderman Across the Spiderverse and an italian movie that probably none of you has heard of 😅 ): my work allows me to survive pretty well, but I'm usually very tired in the evening and on the weekend, so I stay home taking care of my two cats, tidying up and then goingto bed early. I also have to budget my money, since I would like to be able to get a mortgage in the next two years to buy an apartment and I'm really trying to save most of my income... This year I experienced many movies through your reviews!! Thanks a lot and congratulations for your marriage!
