Why should you run Load Range F Tires? Falken Tires explains the need for Load Range F.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Bakari Howard and Drew Howlett discuss the trend of running larger tires on today's HD 3/4 and 1-Ton pickups, and why Load Range F tires are now becoming an important part of Falken's Light Truck tire lineup. There are two basic overlying trends that have posed the need for Load Range F in today's market. You can see the first trend if you look back at ¾ ton and one ton pickups over the past 20 years. These vehicles have gotten significantly heavier over the years, plus more power, bigger diesel engines, more carrying capacity, and more towing capacity. With a simple leveling kit, a lot of these modern trucks can fit a 35x12.50x20 tire. This created a need to make sure these larger aftermarket tire sizes have the proper load index to meet or exceed the original equipment tire’s load index.

Do the A/T4W tires come in different ply ratings? And what about the Open Range AT Plus? I understand they're made by Falkens sister company, and was hoping you can give an assessment. Thanks!

You could. Though a Load Range F might be a little stiff riding for a JLU. You could run into some clearance issues when turning. A lot of stock wheels lack the proper offset to clear a wide tire when turning lock to lock. You might also run into an issue with wheel width on the stock wheels. Those appear to be a 20x8, and the 35x12.5R20 is approved for 8.5-11.0" wide wheels. Another option to get the height of a 35" tire without the width is a LT285/65R20 which measures 34.8"x11.5". The LT285/65R20 is approved for an 8" to 10" wide wheel.

@@tself77 & @erice4611, using this online tool ( tiresize.com/pressure-calculator/ ), and based on Raul's question, assuming his new tires are a Load Range F and both sizes are an LT tire, then the calculator indicates he could run a lower pressure to support the same load. But there are several assumptions being made. That's why a referral to contact our tech department is a safer bet.

I do not under inflate her tires like others do The max is 80psi. I run 60 psi You really don't need the additional rolling resistance on the road, they will cup driving them at 30 psi. they are 12.50 33 and look like they barely fit Rim anyway. All you need is a grossly under inflated tire flexing and rolling off a rim

Hello. We appreciate your devotion to the A/T3W. However, it's being replaced by an improved product. The A/T4W. We think consumers will be just as happy, if not more so, with the new tire.

@falkentire but not a lot of people want to have all kinds of extra side walls to make the tire thick and being driving on the highway and having vibration problems Or have tires that ride like a rock my Jeep actually rides way better than your everyday SUVs

I'm currently lifting my truck and researching tires. I'm leaning towards the Falken A/T4W, and was wondering if they come in different plies (4, 8, 10 etc). Is there any advantage to a higher ply? Thanks!

F equates to floatation on mud tires.

Before you laugh Every tire has load ratings marked on its sidewall. This also applies to standard sizing and flotation sizing, commonly found on mud-terrain tires. To learn more about how to read a sidewall.

Yeh I didn't buy tires on wife's truck they were a gift from her son. They have E load capacity but a F rating So I looked it up. I'm not driving her truck down a creek, so floation doesn't mean that much to me.
