Why Sean Strickland Is UFC's Psychopath

Спорт

Sean Stickland and the word Psychopath have become conflated, and the rhetoric going into any one of Sean's fights is that he is crazy and mentally ill. So in this video I want to address the psychology of this, or rather, just discuss who Sean is and some of the stranger discussions about peoples conceptions of him. This video isn't exactly my normaly style so I was trepid on it, but I feel I got my thoughts out eventually, the script had to be cut down alot so hopefully it all joins together nicely.
One thing I will say is that; although this video discusses peoples change in their world views, I don't want to justify the actions of those truly prenicous people out there, in fact I'm not really describing that type of person at all. This is just about people like Sean; people whos psychology is adaptable and open to change. So I hope that makes sense.
I also hope that comparing and contrasting Seans life with a couple of my favourite movies of all time, American Psycho and American Histoy X, is something that you guys enjoy.
Sean really is an intresting personality, and the UFC is all the better for it. So I hope that perhaps for those out there who like to chuck a label on him that this video allows you to be more critical of that.
Thanks as always,
The Academic.

This is the exact reason we cannot be infringing on our freedom of speech! We must allow people to say these things out loud publicly, firstly so the rest of society can actually dentify them, then ideally teach them better ideas and help guide them into better directions. If that doesn't work at least we know who they are, so as a society we can keep an eye on them & to the fringes... That way they're not policing our streets teaching our children or passing laws in our country!!

You've already lost your argument with the New Left who want to ban free speech. You acknowledge that the people who ban free speech are correct in their assessment of the people whose speech they want to ban, that they are evil and a potential threat. In doing so you grant the argument that they should be kept to the fringes. Banning their speech is the most efficient way to keep them on the fringes. You don't win an argument with the New Left by granting that their moral framework is correct except this one new thing. They have gained the power they have through incremental pushes and by accepting the moral validity of the victories they've already made you make it inevitable that they will win on this issue as well. If you truly believe in free speech it should be because you believe that people must be able to have the freedom to speak. That's it. Any caveats or reasoning that accepts that the people who want to ban it are correct in their moral and threat assessments and are merely misguided on the best method to minimize the threat is already ceding the argument.

Most people unfortunately equate disagreeing with or disregarding 21st Century Western Liberal social and moral values with being stupid. The modern tendency to view morality and philosophy as a science that can be derived through a consensus of experts leads to the majority of people viewing people who disagree with them as stupid or suffering from some sort of clinical mental disorder. They cannot acknowledge that someone might disagree with the consensus for reasons other than stupidity or insanity, and this tendency is leading to a very dark place.

An athlete in a sport where the sole objective is dominating force, people are surprised these guys aren't docile gentle people with stable upbringings? MMA spectators are incredibly hypocritical. You better beat the shit out of the opponent, otherwise its a boring fight but don't enjoy it or you're a psyhopath! Don't say anything bad about your prospective opponent but go ahead and try to rip his arms off we are going to cheer! But only when the violence is in the cage, when you jump out of the cage and start something its a disgrace.

100%, I have a long time friend like this. And most of my friends in general are similar. My friends are honestly pretty messed up people. But as I got older I realised these people are what are reffered to as real friends. The type of people who would sacrifice themselves for you out of pure loyalty. I didn't know until I was older that many people go through life without friends like this.

I think anyone who grew up extremely poor in the US has at least once in their lives been in the same emotional place as Sean. It gives an entirely different perspective on the world from what most people experience. It makes a person far more inclined to violence and uncaring about consequences because when you experience severe hardship even jail sounds better than an average day. Three solid meals a day is better than nothing. People fail to understand that poverty can leave permanent effects on people. This is something that I believe we should bring awareness about and try to create ways to help people who grow up in these situations. The system currently fails so many people and most of them will end up in prison or on drugs to cope with their problems. Childhood trauma, abuse and poverty are legitimate problems in our society and have been overlooked for the most part.

You knew something special was there with this man! He was always the kind of fighter to get to the top but not many thought he would be champ. It's funny but I ALWAYS have a bet on the dogs when the odds are so high, it's paid off a fair few times mainly Dustin, Leon, Holly (had her by KO as well as Ronda was never a good striker) and more recently I had £80 on DeSean to beat Izzy and this was a pretty good one for lots of us especially after all the puppy stuff came to light. I've been around fighting for 30 years and watched all kind of MMA/Boxing vids on here and I can safely say your in a whole league of your own. Excellent quality and reliable information PLUS it's always nice to see a fellow Brit do well ❤
