Why Romeo Lavia To Chelsea Actually Makes Perfect Sense

Спорт

Chelsea look set to complete the double swoop of Brighton's Moises Caicedo, and Southampton's Romeo Lavia. But with both players playing similar roles, the question has become "why would you want both?".
But a look at their differences, not their similarities, shows why Mauricio Pochettino has space for both players in his new-look side.

As a man united fan, I'm jealous of how strong Chelsea have been in the transfer market. They are arguably building a team that will challenge for years to come. With lavia and caicedo, they have the backbone of the team for over 10 years plus. If fofana recovers well, he and badashille can be a solid center back pairing on paper. Plus they have an og in Thiago silva to mentor them. Young Nicolas Jackson is already a threat based on that liverpool game, and will only get better. Finally add a manager that has a history of developing said young talent, and you have the potential for long term success. These are exciting times for chelsea fans indeed!!!

After this transfer market Chelsea won’t have to make another big transfer for half a decade, outside of a goalkeeper . They will just be able to graduate (call up) the ridiculous amount of talent they have in their minor league system (Strasbourg). They will just continue to sign young 18-20 year olds for cheap and send them off to Strasbourg. I would bet anything that in 3-4 years the model Chelsea has created will be considered the gold standard and almost every big club will be doing it. Buying a club for loans is so much better than just sending players out on loan. Because as soon as the club realizes they won’t make Europe and they won’t be relegated they have no reason to play/develop that player anymore. It’s best for them to focus on players that are part of their future. But by buying Strasbourg they will be able to have the primary focus (outside of winning) be on developing players for Chelsea just as much as for Strasbourg . And also Champions League football is likely for Strasbourg after this year so they will be able to get experience at that level too.

I think Reece James injury history also makes Lavia a great addition. Caicedo played a lot of RB for Brighton and looked dominant. Yes they have Gusto now but if Reece was out for extended periods you could plug Caicedo in at RB and put Lavia in his position and keep Gusto on the bench to backup Caicedo. I also think Pochettino is determined to have Enzo focus on the offensive side. So they’ll need another strong DM in case Caicedo is out or needs to fill in somewhere else. And if (when) they get back into Champions League they’ll definitely have enough games to rotate everyone.

  • @bxgmxn

Great video again thank you. I suspect all three of Enzo, Caicedo and Lavia will feature prominently until Nkunku returns and maybe after. I get the feeling that Poch doesn’t quite rate Mudryk or Madueke very highly yet - maybe partly why he used Chilwell as a winger and pushed Chuk up very high to counteract only having one genuine winger on the field (Sterling). He just needs to be careful sharing out minutes this season while we’re only playing domestic football, from next year on assuming we return to Europe I’m sure workload, injuries and suspensions will mean everyone is organically called on to chip in weekly.

As it stands, Reece James and James Chilwell, are capable of generating more goals and assists than Noni and Mudrykh. which is rather strange as they are both wingers. Noni is fun to watch though ngl. but he doesnt do much with the ball . No dangerous passes, no dangerous shots, just dribbles and vibes. As for mudrykh. the man lets his speed control him rather than the other way around so it'll be a while till we see him start performing

Yes, it’s not a fixed thing. Poch is adapting between his favourite 4231 and the Liverpool game where he attacked with 343 and defended as a 541. The revolving plate of potato works wither way, however I really don’t like the way Sterling is playing so far and the 3 forwards behind Jackson was frustrating losing Nkunku however I can see Poch using Maatsen on the left forward Lavia AM and Madueke S RF. To me Mudryk is still building mins and is like a super sub into several of the positions and will kill any teams with his speed in the last 25 mins. Going to fascinating how Poch uses his abundance of new players now! Carefree 🔵

I actually think both Lavia and Caicedo will start together regularly at some point this season. Poch usually plays a double pivot of defensively minded midfielders in a 4-2-3-1. From Wanyama & Schneiderlein at Southampton to Wanyama & Dembele at Spurs. So it'll be Lavia & Caicedo in the pivot and Enzo in the number 10 role. Chukwuemeka will be the one to drop to the bench.

I just wanna say Reece didn't come off cuz he was injured. It was due to fatigue. Important to manage his mins when we have a great back up in Gusto and not Azpi

Yeah, I second that. Please compare Olise with Conor Gallagher. Apparently Chelsea buying Olise as replacement of Nkunku, so as No 10 and not winger. I really like Conor, he has eye for goal, work hard and really good footballer. I will be sad seeing him go 😭 But will understand as Chelsea needs to balance the books and he is pure profit. Btw, amazing videos man 😎😍

As a Spurs fan I’m seeing a lot of links to Gift Orban. Any insight/stats to suggest he might do well in the Premier League and specifically with Ange’s style.

do a video about what kind of team rebuild you would do with the money from the Kane sale! I was surprised spurs didn't go after lavia or a good DM this window
