Who is here after Caicedo established himself with one of the best Cdm and Lavia is still injured?

Tackling- both goes full into the tackles, at times looks a bit rash as well. Because of the brighton system Caicedo's tackles lead to ball recovery most of the times. Passing- Caicedo gets more involved in attacking play as well, both didn't break lines a lot, both able to switch the play. Dribbling- both can beat the press, both look comfortable in tight spaces

Caicedo, like Kante, doesn’t know the difference between attack and defence. I.e. he transitions between the two without seeing the game broken up like most of us do. He always seems to play in broken play due to his transition play being that good. Never drops energy. In some cases he uses extra energy tackling from the blind side and then takes the ball and drives with or without the ball. Very special. He is very clean. Gives massive Kante vibes. However, like Kante he won’t shin playing as a lone/holding six IMO. His game is being let loose on the pitch. Perfect for Enzo who loves to be first receiver from the backs. Then Enzo can move forward with the play in motion knowing Caicedo thrives in transition. Hate to say it, like Kante and Drinkwater.

As a Liverpool fan I won't mind Chelsea taking caicedo but just leave us with lavia. I would take him all day. At just 19 his tackling style is impressing. High level of retention and read the spaces sharper to cover almost completely. He also got vision with passes and can distribute with both foot. Also the price is a steal for such a talent so I am all lavia. I have seen both play caicedo is a monster but lavia has not tapped into his prime potential yet. Imagine him doing this for a relegated team. How much more a team competition for the title. I would take that kid anytime. So Chelsea take caicedo, I am okay with that but lavia I would hope liverpool get that kid.

M Caicedo is by far better in defensive assignment, positioning and long passing that definitely fit well for fast break and counter attack style of play. Combination of young Makelele and N'golo Kante in toughness and speed.

Watching this back after Caicedo showing his class after a difficult start. Eagerly waiting on Lavia to integrate into this team.

Lavia is so underrated but Caicedo is an upgraded Ngolo Kante.

If u are a team that allows your full backs to fly then Caicedo is the ideal player cos he defensively minded to slot in between the two center backs to create 3-v-shape defence to allow the full backs to join attack But with Lavia is he that solid defensively to cover up the space left between the two centre backs?

We should sign both and Enzo to go more in advanced position

I would take Caicedo because he is further ahead in his development, but I would prefer Lavia for affordability and potential at 19 years...

I have not watched a lot of Lavia, but when i see his abilities here, i feel he actually has more skill, and a higher ceiling than Caiceido. I see a lot of Partey qualities in him. Great energy, ball carrying abilities, etc.

Lavia got two assists and a goal but the rest of his dribbling was in his own field, generally in counterattack and open field situations, but also in the majority he did not achieve anything important and lost it after a foul. Note that almost all of Caicedo's "dribbles" are in the rival field, he appears in much higher areas that Lavia is constantly supporting up, then in his own field several of his dribbles were to get out of the pressure. Caicedo manages more the attack and control position game in the rival field and likewise manages the game more in his field coming out clean if he is pressured. What the video only shows is that Lavia is perhaps a little better coming out in open space.

@@CashMNey if both play in top tier teams, I would still pick Caicedo. Both are top talents and i would like them to get big moves, for me Caicedo offers more than Lavia.

With Kante, Kovacic, Loftus Cheek and possibly Mount and Gallagher all leaving. I would sign both but right now Caicedo the priority we need a destroyer in midfield. Chelsea's central midfield options will be very inexperienced and raw with how things look now. Even with the addition of both of these which I would like. Poch would be picking from Caicedo, Lavia, Enzo, Chukwuemeka, Andrey Santos and Cesare Casadei. All players who I would like to have at Chelsea and could turn into a dream selection in time but for the hear and now real lack of leadership and experience

I wouldn't go for Lavia while I have Santos & Casadei. Especially, when they actually bring more goals than Lavia. Caicedo? Definitely drop the bag on him. In the 4-2-3-1 formation, with a Enzo x Caicedo pivot, works perfectly well. But you know? We not a very attractive club at the moment.

I will pick Lavia , number1 reason is price . Caicedo is too expensive and might affect him , remember the press , also Lavia uses ball more that Caicedo from the video I just watch . He knows how to hold ball and walk away from many players even when in tight corner and finally he shoot more than Caicedo . His shot are accurate. Caicedo don't shoot . I want someone like Rodri a CDM that knows how use ball that's how modern CDM should be becox of loose ball . We get Lavia for 40m is a good price and we go find another midfielder from Laliga or Germany to compliment Enzo. They should leave Caicedo, I think his mind already in Arsenal and we don't have any European game to convince him. Price also way too much .

A player like Lavia looks better in Soton because of the type of player around him. Don’t get me wrong he’s a good player nice DM but Caicedo is more complete based on this Video majority will see Lavia better than Caicedo but if you watch Caicedo play he’s far better player than Lavia. Esp in build up phase his awareness is very good, link up play is top. If you get a chance to watch Matheus Nunez from wolves you will see what i mean, he’s a similar player to Lavia.

Check out Samuele Ricci from Torino. If it were possible, get Caicedo and him. He has the qualities to be a sitter (passing range, interceptions, commander skills) alongside a tackler like Caicedo & playmaker like Enzo, they'd make a very good midfield trio in a 4-3-3 formation.

I would go for Caicedo in filling Kante gap .. he takes the ball easily and passes...Lavia keeps it for some time giving chances for losing it ... Caicedo more sharpened... Lavia promising though but underrated at 50... maybe 65 or 70 max if Caicedo is 100. Monies permitting we need both on 4-3-3 formation.

Caicedo is a great recoverer and his game is more refined and precise in middlefield than this player presented in this video. This player may be seen to have an interesting dynamics and tries to be more agressive in the attack but I can't see something concrete and resolutive.

Caicedo is strong physically, stable and good at recovering, Lavia is varsatile, fast and can get goals....all very good useful players and difficult to choose as better than the other.

I disagree........... Caicedo is more of a box to box mid that is defencive, tall and reads the game well but quite old school. Lavia was trined to be like Rodgi by City, Fast, Press resistant and able to pick a pass. Thats why Liverpool want Lavia so much, he would be their Rodri in a very similar formation.

why so much debate? caicedo is undoubtedly superior in 1vs1, passing, vision, danger detection, physical, experience being only 21 years old, fast, productive generator of goal situations literally a kante, lavia would say he has a goal but nothing more. 😉

As a Liverpool fan I’m not bitter about his decision and i know Chelsea is big club and i hugely respect them or not even biased but definitely will prefer Caicedo over lavia bcz he’s complete player and more experienced but since he wanna play for Chelsea then i wouldn’t mind have lavia in our team since we have two good talented attacking midfielder with lavia in defensive midfield for covering, protecting our defense and with his ball retention and energetic then i think he will complete our midfield and we can compete for top 4 or other titles

This would not be a case of who should Chelsea sign anymore if Mount and perhaps Kanté really leave. Both would be signed instantly if that happens, because we would be short of midfielders and we need about three mids this summer transfer. Both and Gabri Veiga are great news for Chelsea.

Well, the signing of Gabri seems far away, he has better destinations in the PL than Chelsea, who was left out of european competitions, so we have to be realistic

I like Lavia. He's closing down skill is great. I would really like it. Last season people strolled past Henderson and Fabinho like water through a pipe.

I'm just not contented with his progressive play and he's technicality against press or ability to build play or positional intelligence. I'm just seeing ball reading here. Would've loved Urgate so much.

None of the three you mentioned are defensive mids.. these two are defensive mids. “Italian kid” Casadei can play box to box but you can’t just rely with him.. he needs experience and is still not a cdm

Lavia is better passing, carrying the ball, with the ball. And Caicedo is better tackling and being agressive. Lavia 19, Caicedo 22. Insane players, right now i think Caicedo is better, but in the future Lavia could be a beast in that cdm role

actually we already have a profile similar to Lavia in Kobbie Mainoo. now whether that talent is finally unlocked next season is what i'm waiting to see. Lavia could be a very good addition though.

Caicedo is the embodiment of n'golo kante, chelsea should sign him immediately. lavia is fantastic also, his individual skills seem better, it would be amazing if we get both.

Caicedo and Enzo would be a solid midfield but if Chelsea sell Kante, Kovacic and Loftus Cheek, they will be short of midfielders if they get injured.

No you’re wrong. Chelsea have Cassadei who’s the best player at the u20 world cup and Andrey Santos who’s 19/20 but was called to the Brazil national team this year and their u20 Captain. Also there’s Chukwuemeka who’s really talented. So even if Kante kova and mount and cheek leave Chelsea needs just one more established midfielder in my view. But in that case they got to keep at least one of mount or Gallagher
