Been growing them for almost 10 years! You forgot to mention that the purple striations on the bean disappear once cooked. My mom will eat them, but she won't cook them - just because they're called Rattle Snakes.

My papaw started growing them 25 years ago and we’ve been saving the seeds from year to year ever since. Now he’s not able to garden anymore, but I’m carrying on the rattle snake growing. They are the only green bean I like. A mess of beans with a chopped up slab of bacon and an onion cooked in them!!!! They don’t look as good canned as a white half runner, but they sure have more flavor and produce wayyyyy better.

All the Rattle Snake pole beans I’ve had were stringy as everything. Is it because they’re picked too late?
You can always tell someone that loves what they're doing it makes you want to do it
I have grown the rattlesnake pole beans for the last 10 years. They are the best bean ever for producing and the taste.
I have grown Rattlesnakes for four years now, no going back! These guys are awesome for heat and humidity! They grow okra fast, but are less stringy than others when too big.
We are growing rattlesnake beans for the first time. Got the seeds from my father's freezer. The seeds have been in there since 1989 when my grandmother passed away. Surprisingly they have grown great! Same goes for some blue lake seeds, Alabama black seeds, and black crowder pea seeds we found in the freezer. Waiting now to harvest them and see how they taste. Lots of fun!!

Wow, antique seeds!🤣 Did they produce beans that look pretty similar to rattlesnake beans that are grown today?

We love Rattle Snake Pole beans, they are easy to grow and we love the taste.
Wow that's a big garden
Why do they call it a mess of beans? Yep older folks used to say that all the time. Yes love to hear all your birds.
Dang your garden is growing like gang busters!!!!! So awesome!!
You are so interesting to watch, love your videos. I love the sound of the birds in the background, they are lively!!
Nice rattlesnake pole beans sound cool! I'm going to have to check out this Hoss Tools place.
Love when you spontaneously break out a dance move 🤗. Wish my man was more into gardening. Did Mary Carl like the rattlesnake pole beans? 🥰🇨🇦
I planted the Rattlesnake beans last year for the first time.I think they did better in our heat.Hoss Tools rocks!
You are so much fun and energetic. You are inspiring to me. Thank you for putting out these videos.
Yes we grow Rattlesnake beans pole beans along with Blue lake pole! We put chicken manure on our garden in the fall! And the rattle snake beans are growing and producing like you would not believe ! We sell produce and people love these beans! They are an heirloom bean! Have s great day ! Happy Planting!
Congratulations🎊 on your garden🌱 awesomeness👏👏👏 yum dinner looked delish 😍😋👍
Those beans looked really good. You didn’t give a review on how they tasted. Your garden looks terrific! Love & Hugs from Ft. Worth, Texas
Wow! These look great. I’m going to have to consider them for next year
This is my first year growing Rattlesnake beans. Also Cherokee yellow Wax beans, Contender beans, and blue lake pole and bush beans.
LOL! When I was growing up , my friends grandma was from Tennessee. That lovely lady cooked up some leather britches! My goodness were they delicious! She also made hominy!
Congrats on the pole beans and the Bella Rosa! Sounds like a good gardening season. 👍

Rattlesnake beans are the best green bean I’ve ever eaten. I haven’t grown them (yet) but got some at Farmers Market a couple years ago at the suggestion of this little old lady vendor. Going to try to do my own this year.
Your garden is so beautiful.
I got some Fortex Cross & Blauhilde pole beans from Sandhill Preservation and saved seeds, these are some real lumpy beans when they get big and produce like krazy. I'm also growing Rattlesnake, been picking snap beans every week by the bushel. Had Strike, Provider, Blue Lake 274, and Royal Burgundy bush beans. Usually, cucumbers don't grow for me but this year they produced loads of large cukes. Pumpkin & watermelon are also doing well.

BOOOM!!! Awesome & thanks for sharing! I’ve never heard of those beans before...got me curious now
Hey Jason, I love those rattlesnake pole beans. I also like dragon langurie bush beans. Have planted pole and bush beans together in the row. And done pole beans and squash in same row. Sweet corn, pole beans and squash in the same rows. Maybe get some guinea hens to go with the peacock for a full course of song together. Well till later Jason. Wishing you and yours health happiness and prosperity. Larry
I haven’t tried the rattlesnakes!!!! They look good!!! Great tip on the squash!!!! That’s good to know to plant 🌱 EARLY!! Get Yo dance On🕺🏻 Go Head!! For the Rattlesnakes! Go! Go! Go!😁 This was FUN🎊🎉🎊
I say I like your videos a lot, but it’s because I like you and your family. You guys truly look happy and enjoy your lifestyle. Seeing you just be yourself helps me with my confidence. Jason I look forward to your review after you all cook them. I love string beans or pole beans. Oh I love those summer squash. I love those other squash too, I try to keep them off the ground. Oh I see you got some cornbread to go with them enjoy.
Love that harvest bucket , so Awesome! Beautiful Garden !!
Just planted some this year.puting on now .thank for the advice on when to pick them
I have not grown them myself, but my friend has and I tried them. They are a really good green bean. I like the Blue Lake pole and bush beans too. Thank you for the video! Have a Blessed Day **HUGS & PRAYERS** from Kelly & Critters at Piney Haven Homestead.
I am definitely in the 'can not grow squash worth a darn' club. I saw Howard Garrett (Dirt Dr) at Mother Earth Fair and he advised to inject Bt into the stem when you plant. So I planted 2 (late). They seem to be doing fine, but are still not big enough to produce. We have had so much rain. Fingers crossed. I would love to grow some squash.

We had a lot of trouble growing squash. The bugs would kill them almost before they got started but this year my wife put a lot of diotomaceous earth and seven dust on them when they were small and not only have we not lost any but they are producing like crazy!

What is Bt?
I have never grown these but i have grown Kentucky Wonder. Snap them and cook with small red potatoes and make corn bread and thats a meal. Country living.
It's all looking so good so far! I love Kentucky Wonders! Speaking of that, my mom's side of the family is from Kentucky transplanted to northern WI and they came from a long line of snake handling, Holy Ghost filled, tongue takin' mountain people. So, when I read the "only snake I'd hande"....made me think of that!. I am Holy Ghost filled - even at that - I wouldn't handle a rattler...garden snake yes....LOL

Rattlesnake pokes are the best! The taste is much better than any other bean. Add a little butter and they are out of this world
Nothing like some fruits from your laborers ❤️
Where I come from the half runner is king. I always liked the ky wonder but then I discovered the rattlesnake. Healthiest, hardiest, and highest yielding bean I ever growled.

BTW they get huge if you let them grow. I harvest 12"-14" beans late in September. I followed my dad's advice "just let them grow son". They didn't get too big but they will become very stringy if you let it go too far.
This was great. In close by to you in Tuscaloosa. Cheers.
I am growing rattlesnake bush beans and they are putting on too. I thought it was getting pole beans last year, so I put a trellis up, and they were bugs. Real tasty. More of a wax bean than the pole variety I think. Next year I plan to try the pole beans.
Ever heard of these I love all beans tfs, loving the dance xx
Your garden is looking awesome!
Dang man....that garden is bangin'!! Love it!!
I'm a new subbie! Love your garden and channel! It's nice to find someone in your neck of the woods who can give useable gardening tips that are applicable to your area. My favorite beans. They are delicious raw or cooked. They stay tender and the seeds don't over develope even when they get long. They tolerate heat and humidity. You can't ask for more in a bean.

Rattlesnake beans are extremely drought and heat tolerant and grow extremely faster than other pole beans.
I love this guy, ha.
Looks like a wonderful bean to try. Gotta have that peacock in the background. Wouldn't be a coghill video with out it!! Love your videos Jason. Hope you can keep them coming. I’m always trying to expand by planting thicker and save space in my garden. I have a spot alongside my chicken yard that I could grow green beans up the fence. Do you think the chickens would bother them through the fence? Always looking for ideas for next year.

Ugh!!!! I know it’s anytime here!
There we go dancing to the beans!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!! The garden in the front lot did you fix the drainage problem as it can be fixed to hold the correct amount of moister!!!!!!!!!! One way is have deep farrows for the rain to run off to the creek or into the forest... at the bottom of the hill import gravel at the valley and have it run to the one of the 2 destination... then at the point of deportation to the creek have multi small fences holding back the gravel but the water exits to the correct spot!!!!!!!! You could double up on some of your trellis and grow 2 plant if done right ...my grandfather did by planting at different times some veggies coming and others dying off or 2 kinds of tomatoes of course your whole land was a truck garden... 3 to 5 acres in veggies at any one time!!!!!!!!
i have never had any...enjoyed the video
Ive lost all of my squash to the borer. And I planted early. but we got hot quick. Breaux Bridge, La.

squash borers - get a diabetic syringe and some bt (bacilius thuringiensis) and squird the inside of the stems. (organic gardening tip from years past)
What month did you plant them? I just bought some to try. I'm gonna have to make another garden for just beans.

Enjoyed the video. So...the cattle panel is only 4 or 5 feet right? Do you then cut tip off the beans so they stop growing up or do you weave them to the side?
The rattle snake beans looks real good. At what point is the best time to pick them??

My guess is blossom drop. Which typically is caused by the weather. Maybe it’s too much of something your area this year. Like maybe is Rained way more than usual or it’s too hot or you got a sudden cool spell
what’s going on with the alarm system?
Just cook with a little bacon drippings salt pepper no water on low
Something is chewing on my rattlesnake pole bean leaves :( I can't seem to find any caterpillars or other villains.
