They are not real mechanics, just part replacement people... this man here has real knowledge....
The trouble with dealers etc is they can't be bothered to diagnose problems these days . They just replace parts in the hope it fixes the problem.

Perfect example of why I stay away from dealers or big garages, they just throw parts at it, in the hope of fixing,, and they expect paying, even if they don't fix the original problem, Nice work Jimmy 👏

I agree 100%. I call it using the parts cannon. They just fire new parts at the vehicle in the hope that they eventually replace the correct one.

Lucky customer. I have no luck locally, even the local dealer can't get the service schedule right. I asked if they knew if the Disco 4 3lt SDV6 2013 had a manual or electronic learn for a new throttle body, but they didn't know. Any thoughts 😃
Thanks so much for going beyond to fix my problem Jimmy 🙏

I am missing old days, cars with carburettors and no on board computers, one spanner and screwdriver used to fix any problem (sometimes😁 hammer also)
if garages had to issue refunds under these circumstances life would be much nicer.
There are some utter T055ERS out there when it comes to fixing problems with modern diesel engines. Thankfully, there is Jimmy to bring some common sense and honesty to fixing those issues!

Nope. I stopped using shops for my Volvo. The dealer shops only know how to do service on new cars. They are clueless.
I’ve lost count of how many throttle flaps i’ve replaced for this fault, any boost codes and consequential dpf issues the first thing i do is pull the front off and poke the flap to see it stick, it’s common knowledge so how these garages create such a cluster fk of these jobs i don’t know 😂
The trouble with dpf blockages is that it's often not the dpf but another underlying problem. This week i found out that certain Hondas that have a blocked dpf can be due to the ac system not working. Honda use the ac system to put a load on the engine to help with the regen. The best part is you get no fault codes and unless you know these cars well you would never of guessed its the ac causing the dpf blocking.

It's crazy that the manufacturers can come up with these crazy parameters to enable DPF regen but not then publish this information for free so people can maintain their cars .
Amazing result. Sloppy repair attempts that didn’t work should be refunded or named and shamed!
Lovely to watch you diagnose the problems. I used to do QC inspection and we called it spot the deliberate mistake. LOL
Brilliant 👍
Lol I had DPF systems steady for 2 years with the Jaguar XF in and out in the shop every other month. I finally had a DPF delete and tuning done. Voila it's like having a new car. I burn less fuel and have better millage. DPF wasnt covered under warranty so after about 10 grand in parts to date I'm much happier.
Its a bit of a Bugger when you as an Independent Trouble Shooter Knows more than Land Rover !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great Job and Thanks for Posting
Went through a similar saga, but never took it to a garage because I trust myself more than any garage. Didn't throw parts at it but kept testing and cleaning the DPF until I eventually bit the bullet and replaced the throttle body. Never had an issue until I sold it to move back to the good 'ol USA. Driving a RAM pickup now with a Hemi V8. Still miss the Range Rover a bit as they drive better than anything else out there.
Top Man. Dealers will happily waste your money trying new parts.
Great video again it's a pity that people are coming to you after they have paid a fortune to the dealer garage's , I really enjoy watching you sort out people's vehicles for them it can be a nightmare sometimes trying to find somebody decent well done pal 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Seriously shocked how clueless garages and main dealers are.
What a legend you are Jimmy
Just changed mine on a Jaguar XJ, from watching one of your earlier videos, cheers .
A pleasure watching you work. I dread to think how much this lady has paid out in parts and labour costs due to incompetent mechanics. If a person is lucky enough to have a skilled mechanic they need to look after them as they are a rare breed. I have some good guys that work on my Jeep, i always bring chocolate biscuits or ice creams in summer and never moan about the bill.
Great Job as always.... Unfortunately another day another Range Rover at this rate you might want to become a Range Rover specialist 😂😂😂

I had a citroen grand Picasso with multiple problems and after main dealer and several independents and a couple of thousand pounds in parts I got so fed-up with nobody getting to the root cause of the problem - I sent the car to the scrap-yard. - I'm sure Jimmy could have sorted it had I known that there are genuine geniuses capable of looking further than the norm.

Wish we had someone with your expertise in North Manchester. I have a Citroen Berlingo B9 1.6l Diesel and get intermittent "Anti Pollution" Error messages in the display and then the vehicle goes into limp mode. Code reader shows P0087 and sometimes also P0093 Fuel leak problem and P1351. The vehicle has been into 2 garages for repair, the fuel filter has been changed twice and none of them have any other ideas except to try swapping parts. There are no fuel leaks anywhere. The vehicle sometimes works OK for a few weeks and then the fault returns. Love watching your videos and the way you diagnose the problems.

That's an easy fix, it's the fuel rail pressure sensor that's giving intermittent readings, it's underneath the egr valve. The code p1351 is knackered glowplugs. The 1.6hdi doesn't need the glowplugs for doing regens. I have two Citroen C4 Picassos with the same engine and I also have a C4 Picasso 2.0 hdi.

Got a Renault master. Had low boost code come up, but turbo intercooler hose getting blown off. So no t low. After swapping some sensors found it to be sticking throttle body. This van as never driven smooth, can't keep a constant speed on motorways, it gradually slows. Press accelerator very slightly. No acceleration. Press very slightly again. No acceleration. Third time off it goes. It's like turbo lag but I think it's the throttle body closing off to cause vacuum for the egr to pull gas through. Serious looking at programming out the egr.
Well done sir 😊

What can I do when they say - well this was the fault code and this is what we did. It’s not much I can do unfortunately. Apart from giving them public feedback.
Well done another proper job sorted dealership you cannot trust em if you can do it your self you know then that the job properly sorted. Looks like usual throttle body plastic crap bad manufacturing or due to heat distortion

Kennedys garage near Waterford seems good
Just came across your videos. Great. Can you clean these Land Rover throttle bodies and is it worth doing as a regular maintenance thing?
hi jimmy do you put the fluid in a cold exhaust or warm?
Just a quick question. If the dpf is nearly full as in just before a normal regen kicks in will the pressure show higher that when you say it needs to be around 50mbar? Thanks
Ok, I have an XF260 3.0D and out of the blue the same codes came up. I saw your videos and followed your advice clearing the sticking butterfly flap, the MAP sensor I cleared the codes and they kept coming back with DPF full warnings but no restricted performance. So, I changed the oil separator, it took me 20 minutes following your video. That was three days ago and I've covered many miles of varied driving without any issues. If I get the problem again, I might have to consider changing the inlet manifold, because from other forums , it is prone to hairline fractures that can cause air leakage too. But, so far so good. Oh and by the way, THANK YOU. YOU ARE A STAR!!

Yes i had one years ago, something else nearly daily going wrong, got rid of it, best thing i ever did. I was working at the land rover dealerships by me I'm a spark and in there i was talking to the mechanics and they said none of them have landrovers as personal cars as there crap, too unreliable, and there the mechanics 😂😂 says it all.
Awesome, the Launch though on the DPF value it gives the expected values next to the actual and they are in thousands and the actual is just 2 digits, what's that all about?
Does the SDV6 ude the same throttle body as the TDV6???
When/if this happens to my Discovery Sport I'm bringing it over to Ireland. Simple as that.
you have a lovely calm voice makes your vids relaxing
First class job Jimmy.
How far does the DPF differential pressure drop after complete cleaning at cca. 3000RPM? To 0mBar or is stays at around 30mBar? Mine has around 60-70mBar at 3000RPM after a successful active DPF regeneration with no interruptions on the highway. And I believe the DPF faulty because it can't clean itself completely so I have active regenerations every 120km - 200km. That's too often.
This is why I'm sticking with my 30 year old Land Rover, these modern electronic Chelsea Tractors spend more time in the garage for repairs than actually on the road. Also proves that the dealerships know nothing about their own vehicles, utterly useless just like the Land Rover.

Can you please travel to Scotland and help fix my RRS DPF Issue also please🙏
I wonder where garages get their mechanics from as they don’t appear to know how to fix cars. This is a common fault on Land Rovers and the dealer should know what the issue is right away. My Qashqai has a dodgy part that fails every two years regular as clockwork. It’s the turbo air intake pipe, that’s plastic and snaps in half causing the car to go into limp mode. I carry a spare for when, not if, the current one fails as it’s a simple five minute swap out, and put new part in. Then it’s all good for another two years until it snaps again.
great video why would you buy a land rover
Great job. Nice seeing your daughter at 10:50
Couple of questions Jimmy if I may ?? 1, Is it best to add the cleaner with a cold DPF? 2, Does the Launch DPF cleaner require de-ionised water like the other brands you used in your earlier video’s or just tap water? 👍
@ORileysAutos
Жыл бұрын
I'd say a warm dpf so maybe 100 degrees but not scorching hot dpf as the cold fluid could cause it to crack. It doesn't have to be de ionised water

The 2.0 ingenium is known to be a problem engine half the owners shouldn't have a diesel though They're lifestyle vehicles used in urban environments & any modern diesel will give problems when used like that A modern diesel equipped with a DPF needs to be on the open road as much as the town otherwise it will block with soot

Plastic throttle flap???? Are they all plastic?
Why does a diesel have a throttle? It’s ridiculous!
@ORileysAutos
Жыл бұрын
Main reason for having a throttle body on a Diesel is EGR and it also has a role to play during engine shutdown. When engine is turned off the valve closes and cuts air into the cylinders this helps to achieve a relatively smoother shut down. Throttle body works as an Anti-Shudder Valve (ASV). Diesel engines generally do not need a throttle valve. However, in modern diesel cars, throttling the amount of intake air facilitates precision control for exhaust gas recirculation and stops the engine from shaking when the ignition is switched off.
Do you not just give the trottle blade a bit of a file these days?
