I relate so much to this Back in elementary school I had only one friend and after summer when school started I was excited to see my friend again but while I waited in the classroom I noticed my friend never showed up so I asked my teacher if she know if he was sick or something, then the teacher told me that he had moved to another town far away and would most likely never see him again since it was a 42 hour drive to get there, so I had the little silent moment just like this video as I slowely realized that I lost my best friend that year :,

Something similar happened to me and my best friend in elementary school, I never understood the concept of "moving away" back then, and then near the end of 4th class she went to hospital and moved after that. I didn't know what happened, my parents didn't know either, teacher told us she's living with her parents in a city 4 hours away from ours now. I'm glad that I wrote her on facebook and that she's fine, but I only managed to do it after almost 20 years ... it was the best time of my life, she doesn't even seem to be interested in meeting again and talking :( It was the last time I went outside to play with a friend

One great thing about this moment that shows why Non Non Biyori is a step above most other anime when it comes to emotional moments as that she never actually breaks down bawling. It takes its time to build up her change in expression, but Renge being Renge, this is as much emotion as she shows. There's no over-dramatization, no exaggerated animation. Just a veeeery slow change of expression, the tears slowly welling up, and then we see her from behind as she hangs her head and walks home. Brilliant.

The funny thing is, this is episode FOUR, we are still learning about the characters of this show, we barely know them at this point but, we cry with her, it's so relatable. This is why I love Non Non Biyori so much.

Girls: he didn't cry at titanic? Do boys even have feelings? Me: *watching this video totally depressed because renge had watery eyes*

Poor little Renge. I’ve never cried so much at an anime character’s sadness more than this scene.

Watch closely, because this is the ONLY moment in entire series, in which Renge actually gave a fuck. And it ain't going to happen again. This moment really hit me hard, because I did not expect that at all.

An example of a very simple but deeply heart wrenching scene in anime....

Who need 24 episodes if less than 80 seconds can make you tear up?

This one is such a great scene. Renge doesnt have any friend her age around, and that make her so attached. She goes there in hope meeting and playing again but a devastating news hit her instead. This is the only scene i feel sad watching this anime.

i never got emotional while watching anything, but this scene just broke my heart.

it takes lots to make renge express emotions, this was a powerful moment and a very well designed character

the still shots on this series is so amazing it makes the emotions more impactful

there's been FEW scenes on anything that hit me as hard as this

this scene still critically kills all my emotions, even that i don't ever saw the complete series, i started to watch it if remember well, back in 2016/2017. this can break everyone who has very sensitive minds. what a cute/sad moment for renge :(

This video contains within itself all 7 stages of grief. It is amazing how much emotion is shown on Ren-chon's face.

This hurt so bad, my heart has yet to recover. It is surprising to get such a serious episode amidst comedy slice of life. And Ren chan took it like a champ, no one even knew she was super sad, but I cannot help but wish someone gave her a hug x)

Mind you that this is Episode 4 of the series. But this scene that gave us is like you're already watching the last episode of this anime. I cried this early, holy shit.

This anime proved that it doesn't have to be fully packed episodes with the density of a blackhole to be a great one. This is still one of my top 5 favourites

This scene was so well executed but also so merciless at the same time....

This crying scene has gone on to become legendary in the history of the anime.

Its depict the rupture of emotionless kid very well...it makes a standard for all animator to depict child properly.

I like how they extended the plan before she starts crying, it makes the scene itself even more sad and uncomfortable Ren chon is a great character and this scene in particular made me cry like a freak

didn't get sad from this, but something similar happend back in elementary school, during summer my best friend moved to another town hours away so we could not see each other anymore and the moment summer was over and started on school again just to realize that we was never gonna play together after school anymore made me tear up in the middle of class x), sad times

This is especially touching because many of us had to go through this shit.

This is the saddest scene of the anime so far I even crying a little bit while watching it

I've always thought it was amazing how long they hold the take on Renge's face, but I've never timed it until now. It's over 45 seconds, which is much longer than I realized.

What you think Non Non Biyori is: a "healing" anime that's gonna make you all warm and fuzzy. What Non Non Biyori really is: a depressing story about dying Japanese countryside where a little girl doesn't have friends of her age to play with.

everytime i rewatch nnb and see this scene, when renge start crying im seriously drop my tears too and i cant hold my tears :'

As far as i can recall, only 2 instances that Renge cried: this one and when Flatty-san died.

I wanted to laugh. Ended up being sad.

I can relate that. I have the same experience. And i did cry when I watch the episode.

You know, it's even sadder when she woke up early without even having breakfast, just to go sooner to see her friend T_T

When I watched it with my mum on a Crunchyroll chrome cast, it lagged for half a minute, then an ambulance drove by. I'm not joking...

Ren is so mature in such young age,she tries her best to act like a grown up

The little noise she made was the last straw for me 😢

Man this really hit me too hard that silent part😖 it hurts man so much for empathy and the reaction she did

I don't care what people say. This anime is marvelous. I love the story, the scenery, the life and everything. It really reminds me of my village. Peaceful and surrounded by nature. It's kinda sad that everything has an ending. I am sure hope that this anime doesn't have an ending...

This was such a sad scene man... This is why I watch slice of life anime, their characters are more real than any other show.

I felt this back when I was a kid my cousin stay at my house for 1 month cause his parents were out of the town and we have so much memories until its time for him to go back home I remember I feel so heartbroken and empty when he's not there again spending time with me ahh good ol' days 😊

That probably her first friend around her age, she got excited early in the morning to play with her and the feeling of losing her must be very hard. This anime make appreciate more of simple thing in my daily life

You know what. Even this is a little problem when your new friend left you without any goodbye. You will not regret this when you're older. But this will reminds you how is that feeling back then.

There are so many scenes in this anime where everyone just turns into statues all of a sudden and stare at each other silently for 20-30 secs after someone says or does something awkward or something unexpected happens! Those scenes are really funny except for only this one. This one was sad and heartbreaking!!

I was laughing silently with my eyes getting teary. Man, it just felt like i experienced something similar too T_T

I hate how long they kept that shot of just Renge staring, it feels so long, you know she will start crying and deep inside you don't want to accept that and perhaps you're hoping it will not happen and that there will be a cut or something, but nope. Very well played out scene that hits very hard. Non Non Biyori is a beautiful show, it is one of the funniest slice of life but also has this feeling of longing and melancholy that make it really special.

That moment made me cry😭
