Chinese leaders are elected based their responsibility, accountability and credibility. The US leaders are elected based on their popularity. To me the US Presidents are elected to act as mouthpiece for special interest groups and not necessarily for the interests American people in general. That why you see American Presidents who are physically weak, mentally slow and speak without accountability and responsibility because they can be easily manipulated and used by special interests.

Lizzy, there are basically 2 reasons as to why the tree trunks are painted white during winter. The paint used is actually lime (calcium compound) solution. First, being white, the paint can reflect some heat from the sun during the day of the winter and thus keep the trunks cool. The purpose of this is to minimize the temperature differential on the trunks between day and night. Too big a difference in temperatures will cause the trunks to develop cracks easily. Secondly, lime is a good pesticide. Leaves that fall onto the ground during autumn time harbour a lot of pest larvae. The larvae hibernate during winter but will start crawling up the trees during spring to devour the fresh leaves. The lime can effectively prevent them from doing so. I hope the explanation is clear enough.

@@lizzyinchinaYou are a shameless liar. Most of your videos about China are bluntly wrong. You do not know how many poor people there are in China. According to the former Chinese prime minister Li Keqiang, 600,000,000 Chinese earn monthly income below 1000RMB. That is $140 per month in equivalence. You brag about safety in Chinese cities. Yes, your observation is correct. But do you know how the Chinese government keep the cities safe and tidy? The government purge poor people out of the cities. In Beijing, poor people doing labor work are officially called “low-end population”, and it is the open policy of the government to drive these people out of Beijing (and other big cities as well). You can search the web for these information. That‘s the reason why you see the cities are safe and tidy. In China, middle class and foreign tourists like you can live very comfortably in cities since you can buy human services of any kind, at any hour of the day, by very cheap price. When you brag about this, try to understand why! It is fundamental knowledge in economics that when country develops, human labor becomes more expensive. The reason why you can buy services so cheap in China is because there are vast amount of poor people who are willing to sell their services of any kind, at any hour of the day, by very cheap price! These are the poor people who live in places you do not see!

USA always emphasize America is free. However what is freedom when there is no safety. If it is free to go out at 2am without safety of being robbed, stabbed or shot. Here in Canada some of our industry are still exporting jobs overseas. There are jobs but they are not good paying jobs like in the late 90's and early 2000's. Also lot of Canadian are leaving the country to seek a better future elsewhere. Then there are the endless immigrants who thinks Canada is the land of milk and honey. Well after two, three or four years here. The new immigrants quickly realized being in Canada isn't what was shown in the glossy brochure. The cost of living is expensive here. Some people have two jobs. If you want two jobs to make ends meet then this is the place for you. Anyways. As always it's a informative video as usual. 👍

I am a European who has been living in China for 15 years. Let’s me explain this for those of you who are not so familiar with China. China is still a developing country with 800 million people living in it close to poverty on $100 a month. Li Keqiang himself said it in a speech to the party before he was murdered. The Chinese have an internal passport system called the hukou system that determines where in the country people are allowed to live. Put simply 99% of the population are not allowed to live in Shanghai or Beijing or the other tier one cities. Otherwise everyone would move there and overburden the city infrastructure. China develops a few places to be special centers of power and politics. Beijing is the political centre and Shanghai is the financial centre. So these are shiny and mostly clean and welcoming to tourists. Again, the hundreds of million of people living in poverty are not permitted to live there. Coming to China and only visiting Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hainan is like going to the US and visiting Beverly Hills and Times Square. That’s why you don’t see homeless people in these cities or filth or crippling poverty…but try travelling 20 miles in any direction out of these cities and you will see a starkly different reality. Make no mistake about it; China is a brutally repressive country for all of its citizens and everyone living there knows it. Don’t be fooled by tourists who only spent a few days living in the bubble.

Only for sane and sober Americans as most wouldn't like China one bit. Reason is simple; weed is either too expensive, low quality or risky. Furthermore there's no mass shootings, snatch thieves, mugging, open sex and homelessness which definitely makes life in China extremely boring. Life in the States is akin to a script out from Hollywood and that's what makes the US very alluring, adventurous and a little dangerous. Like most Americans say, "danger is my business." 😂😂😂😂

I can't imagine moving to China for better jobs or pay. That is ridiculous. I am an American that has moved to Kunming 20 years ago. Life here is much cheaper, very safe, and interesting. I am retired here and live in a standard easily twice as good as I can in the USA. It is not without problems, but they are manageable enough. My wife is Chinese which helps a lot, since even to this day, I do not speak Chinese. All this being said, I do not regret living here. People are very nice and give me preferential treatment as a laowai. It is way beyond safe here other than petty theft. Anytime day or night is safe. Food standards here are poor and you need to be careful in this regard. But now I don't think the USA standard is any better, so this concern is a wash. But I emphasize strongly, if you need to work you will have trouble living here. Even as a teacher it is not good. Across the board living costs are 60% of what it cost in the USA. Also Kunming is the place to be for sure. Location, natural beauty, proximity to Honk Kong, Bangkok, Vietnam, Laos, Marimar, Malaysia, etc is convenient and travel cheap. Best decision I made was moving here.

I have traveled a lot, i can say there are only two countries, the United States and China have been doing constructions everywhere, most countries in the world does not matter how many years have been passed when you travel back you will see they are still the same as before is hard to find some construction sites. In my opinion, go to China as soon as possible if you want to explore the vast opportunities, maybe years late will be too late to find a spot. The trees bark covered with lime is to warm the trees in winter and also kill insects to protect trees. I am in the USA, and i found here is more easy to get a diploma, and for choose a program is much easier than China and any other counties, here is more flexible, for example, i had a business diploma, i can study architecture, medicine, etc, whichever i like, just need to finish some pre-requisites, in most countries, this is impossible, sounds like, if you are a chef, you have to continue to be a chef, you are bachelor's is a business you can only work on master's on business. the flexibility on programs' shift is one of i most like the United States, there are a vast study opportunities without bullshit unreasonable rigorous requirements to block you out.

I just find your reply, here i explain something for you. In the USA all kinds of schools and the education departments focus on to offer people the maximus opportunities, not concentrate on diplomas. As long as you are positive and persuade better life there are always chances, not like China, for example, the China high school graduates want to enter college or university have to pass the national exam or the ordinary people want enter the higher education have to satisfy a lot of requirements, the higher education facilities looks like a bureaucracy, like a government. Maybe there are a lot of talent people be blocked out just could not meet the requirements. In other words, the USA is opening higher education doors to everybody, if you can not meet the requirements they will help you to bridge classes to satisfy those requirements to let you in. The diploma is not easy to be gotten. The USA is let people be easily happy in and be strictly out. Do you think China is better on higher education than the USA? @@oliver2669

  • @brianwong8564

Maybe some of private higher education facilities have some happy diplomas, it is also depends on which major, for example, for medics, architecture, etc. are not easy to get graduated, and after graduated, you have to take national exam to get you license, and after you got your license you have to go back to school every 5 years to learn new developed technology on you major. In China the national exam is not perfect , there are no perfect ways to reflect a high school student's real potential, the exam maybe will kill the student's passionate. In the USA or the most countries have no such higher education entrance exams. I prefer the USA education system.@@oliver2669

I've never understood the notion that Chinese cuisine is a potential problem. What country on earth doesn't have Chinese restaurants? Chinese cuisine is popular worldwide. Sure, Chinese food in the West may not be as diverse as in China but by and large, there's isn't that much more to acclimate to.

Here in British Columbia Canada we had an elementary math textbook titled, "Math Makes Sense"... the joke aimed at this text was, "Math Doesn't Make Sense." Yes, although it explained various math concepts... it was essentially a math text of word problems. You basically had to read a paragraph or two and then figure out what how to solve the problem. It not not just math but a task in language comprehension. If you were weak in language skills, that alone would 'do it in' for you. Numerous classrooms have resorted to a math workbook series titled, "Jump Math." Moreover, it's a bit shocking the number of students graduating from grade 7 who have not memorized their multiplication facts.

In Hong Kong I was shown a junior high school maths paper at an international school. The student was asked to write about the application of the pyramid. I thought it meant mathematical application. Turned out the answer was a paper about the Egyptian pyramids, the shape of some flower species that are naturally pyramidal in shape … and a bunch of other things. There was one single paragraph with some mathematical formulae, but that was the work of the student’s parent (I know that because that very parent showed me the paper). Needless to say, 8 years later the student is still having a hard time putting 2 and 2 together.

Life in America simply isn't that great. You touched on safety and cost of living but there are other things, as well: -> lousy infrastructure, especially subways, trains and airports -> unsightly tent cities and homelessness in major urban centres -> fentanyl addiction crisis -> declining life expectancy -> mass incarceration -> systemic racism ("I can't breathe") -> political chaos (e.g., January 6, 2021) China has hundreds of beautiful, gleaming, modern cities that are clean and safe and high-tech. Homelessness is practically nonexistent. Chinese society is very stable and peaceful. The Chinese are the happiest people in the world! According to the Global Happiness 2023 survey from Ipsos, China is the happiest country in the world at 91% compared to 76% for USA, 74% for Canada and France, and 70% for UK.

What you said about China is debatable. Americans hates China, coast to coast. I am not saying you are wrong, I am just saying the reality is bleak. You are fortunate. You are educated, worldly, 95 % of Americans can't even spell " China " can't even point on a map where China is. Americans worship United States of America. Above all, Americans worship Americans way of life. Americans accept all the violence, illegal drugs problems, cities decaying. Point is Americans still thinks America is number " ONE ", and Americans is " GOD'S " people. Some one said recently the Chinese have culture, the West have fantasy. And in most of Asia " THE GREAT BUDDHA " is One AND Only !!!
