I think China really did well in coordinating private and public actions in transitioning to Green technology. You cannot expect only either the government or private business to do it alone. And I know China is also strict in their measurement of if private businesses are really helping move towards this green initiative. In contrast here in SEA most government are very slow and barely coordinates with private businesses. And private business will only do the minimum required to qualify for tax incentives and tax breaks. Hence you see malls creating 2-4 slots of charging slots for EVs to qualify for the tax incentive and subsidies but nothing beyond it. For private businesses their logic is why should they do more if the government is not doing enough to really push EVs? government cannot expect private business to create more charging station if demand for it will be weak. So there is sometimes blame game where the government will comment that private businesses are not allocating enough charging stations to encourage their customers to switch to EVs and vice versa. Development should go hand in hand and the government needs to lead the charge since this is a nationwide change. And this is something China did successfully.
