LET'S NOT SUPPORT GROUP WITH MINORS ❗ Let's be more responsible of the consequences for the kids and the influence they have on their audience !

Well done. To me the worst part is the trainee debt, the 7 year exclusive contracts, the weekly weigh-ins, the complete powerlessness to the unaccountable CEO. In America, we call it 'indentured servitude' and was (technically) banned by the 14th Amendment. The sad irony is that Asian indentures (mostly Chinese and Indian) were ensl_ved to build our cross country railroads in horrible conditions. Kpop is changing, slowly but for the better. I try to follow the groups that are independent of, escaping from, or somehow transcending the system. One thing about Eunchae. She's held up as the poster girl for minors in Kpop, but she's in such a great situation it kind of cheapens the argument. If every minor was in a group under a relatively progressive company, with a good contract, with members who are older, have been through the grinder, or are American, or not from Kpop, it wouldn't be so much of a problem. Keep up the good work. With scrutiny comes change.

I think this deserves praise, though I do need to bring up that minors can debut, but only under the right circumstances and conditions (and also not so frequently at the ages of 13-15/16). Unfortunately, the right circumstances aren’t met with some recent situations from this decade. I also feel as if entertainment agencies should be less rigid and actually care for trainees’ idols’ situations. At least we’re still getting groups with members that are all at least adults (IRRIS and Riize are good examples of this). Fans and managers should understand how pressurizing the lives of trainee minors are and make some leeway for breaks and personal things.

The problem is that will never happen because of the way the Kpop industry is built. Contracts, long hours, overwork, parasocial relationships, incredibly high expectations and standards just to name a few parts.

@@skittychuu sadly that seems to be the case. Doesn’t change the fact that the industry is still full of horrible things.
