Okay, a minute of appreciation for Taemins backup dancers???? OBVIOUSLY Taemin is a king who deserves every word of praise he gets. But the backup dancers were so good???? I'm constantly confused at how they do such small controlled movements, IN SYNC???? So skilled

@elementarywatson no i don't think that they say that kai and taemins body control is overlooked but that body control in general is overlooked: 'it's (the topic of body control) such a beautiful thing that is often overlooked' like if people mention good dancers they don't mention body control but rather if they are on beat or energy or fiercness - Kind of the same thing with everyone praising high notes but noone talking about very low notes

The thing about Move is that it's just absolutely perfect for Taemin specifically. He's already a fantastic dancer/performer and that choreography is the absolute best at showing off his skills. It's the thing about SM. The choreographies, the music is so sharply customized for that one idol or group. So, no one can recreate it with the same grace again. The original always stands a par. Though how much I hate SM as a management company, I love it's artists a 100 times more than that. They are just freaking talented with their own charm that is completely unbeatable. If one does that, no one else can make us forget the original. That's how impactful the songs, the choreographies, the performances, the singing, the stages and the idols are of SM.

The reason why Move works so well is because literally no one can do it like Taemin. I've seen so many seriously talented idols try to dance move (Jisung, Haechan, Sunmi, Key, Taeyang, Momo just to name a few), and while they all do it well, they don't capture the same magic that Taemin does when he performs it. It's like Move is the glass slipper and Taemin is Cinderella. literally ONLY he fits perfectly.

flavor?? he did add that but no one else nowadays beside some idols are doing that. they are being deliberately trained to dance the same (just like how they're all being trained to sound the same when singing, but kpop fans dont like the truth) so choreos now are never gonna get to that taemin level of "flavor" unless a miracle happens.

Lucifer was the new standard. It BROKE the formula. That being said Jonghyun and Onew had a lot of trouble hitting their notes it was a taxing choreography and sadly with this new standard comes 90% lip syncing from most groups unless they have top vocal training (most companies don’t put enough training into breath control and stability) but SM has the best in that regard but the younger groups still rely on backing tracks

a lot of these moves are very difficult to do without looking stupid because it's very easy to do too much and they can feel very awkward due to the simplicity like trying to dance to move I end up looking so dumb cus it's so slow and precise and I have too much energy to focus enough so even though they are minimalistic it does not mean that these moves are easier than some more intense ones (but everyone has different skills so congrats if you're able to look good while doing moves like these)

I find it fascinating that you mentioned that Move isn't afraid to explore masculinity and femininity both in it's choreography and styling. The actual choreographer, Kohaku Sugawara, embodies androgyny and it gets a lot of people's attention as well because she's both feminine and masculine in a harmonious and subtly mesmerizing way. She and Taemin performed together on a stage a couple years ago and I always thought they were such great dancers; there's a lot of musicality in their bones. I'm happy they worked again in Move.

What I also love about it is that no one could have done it but Taemin. OMG love people talking abt this!! lmao the edditing 7:54 🤣🤣 Here's the secret reason to why this works so well and gives you the UGH/ stank face. Many people have said it before and so will I: CONTRAST CREATES FOCUS!! Most of the highly effective subtle movements happen before or after very sharp, quick movements, and then when there's a change to something more slow and sentual, our eyes are drawn to it. In cases where the music might not allow for quick shapness to create the focus (smt slow), it is shown through the execution and isolation of a certain body part. Example: MOVE. The UGH part is the swaying of the hips (isolation), and the stare that seeks to tear your clothes off!! (intensity/intent). Anyone can dance MOVE without looking stupid, as long as they have the right intensity/intent and body control. In general, it boils down to the actual music and if there are moments where the choreographer can insert a groove that will add a new flavour to create that subtlety and focus. Love all these examples got so many chills!!!!! please more vids like this 🙏🙏🙏

Fun fact: Move is the hardest choreography in all of KPop. People might think that the slight movements are easy but you have to have full control over your body to be able to do it like him. Which is why only TWICE's Momo and Mina can come close to it, due to their extensive control over their bodies. Another person who also came close to it was EVERGLOW's Mia. When she danced Move, she displayed almost complete control over her limbs, upper, and lower body.

The video would not have been complete without Taemin. I also really love the little side step and popping choreo in Advice, it´s less subtle but still very controlled and in my eyes, it has an immense impact. Definitely recommend watching!

I ALSO LOVE WHEN CHOREOGRAPHY CONTRIBUTES TO A STORY. in can’t you see me by txt, at the line “who’s a liar?” all the members turn away from the camera with their hands behind their backs. kai, beomgyu and yeonjun have a “pinky-swear” gesture, while soobin and taehyun have their fingers crossed! PERFECTION!!!!

As a dancer, this is what I ALWAYS talk about. These little moments in the choreography are what keep the tension, add a little spice and are like a breath of fresh air to the dance. It makes everything so much more interesting then when the dance has a lot going on all the time.

It's because of the dynamics. Harder hitting parts are being highlighted by throwing in a more subtle move. On the other side, the subtle ones has more emphasis and control, which draws you in. IN SHORT THE POWER OF DYNAMICS!!!!!

RECOMMENDED MOVES FOR PART TWO (bc this video was amazing): Seventeen Fear (feet move after chorus), Seventeen Ready to Love (idrk how to describe it Woozi is center at the end of the first chorus and his feet move from side to side with his back facing the front), Seventeen Don't Wanna Cry (the beginning sway Vernon center), Seventeen Lilili Abbay (the slow head movement on the pop sound in the chorus, HOSHI Spider (when he moves his knees with his hand in the first chorus), EXO love shot (main choreo hip movement), SF9 Tear Drop (the first hip movement in the chorus), GHOST9 Control (chorus "so beautiful" foot movement part), CIX Movie Star (chorus main choreo), Golden Child WANNABE (chorus foot movement/main choreo), ATEEZ Deja Vu (Yunhos hip movement in the "da da dada" part of the chorus), ENHYPEN Drunk-Dazed (when Sunoo crosses his hands back and forth infront of his face in the chorus), TXT Frost (the middle of the song where Taehyun is cetner and they move there bodies slowly to the right), THE BOYZ The Stealer (the shoulder movement ripple at the beginning and the whole intro in general), GOT7 LAST PIECE (Jinyoung finger movement right before the chorus), Jus2 FOCUS ON ME (the whole chorus part has a lot of iconic subtle moves), Stray Kids Scars (when they reach to the sky at the end of the chorus), ONEUS BLACK MIRROR (the whole first part of the chorus), AB6IX CLOSE (the first move of the chorus), AB6IX (Daehwi) ROSE, SCENT, KISS, (the first move of the chorus), JUST B DAMAGE (the hip sway while touching the ground), BDC SHOOT THE MOON (the foot tap move at the beginning of the chorus), OnlyOneOf libidO (pretty much the whole ground part in the chorus), CHUNG HA Bicycle (the I ride it i ride it part), KIM WOO SEOK Red Moon (when he covers his face with the coat and when he runs his fingers down his body in the chorus), SHINee Don't Call Me (idk if this counts but the leg movement to "don't call me" in the lyrics), (G)I-DLE Oh my god (the first chorus beginning where they move their hands away from their faces), MONSTA X GAMBLER (this one doesn't really apply but it the chorus has so much subtlety I just couldn't exclude) . Sorry this is such a long list consisting of mostly boy groups and I know it might be a lot to go through, but please at least give some of these a look because they're generally good songs. Also side note: I wasted about an hour of my life making this list 🤡.

The immediate thing I thought of was the little lean back in the chorus of First by Everglow. The badass, “look at me” vibe it gives off always gives me goosebumps because you’re not expecting them to slow down there. It’s like they know they’re number 1 and they’re rubbing it in your face. Yiren’s expression is killer.

The funny captions, the transitions, also pointing out exactly what moves you are talking about (especially the second sticker move where you did a closeup of Yuta and Taeyong) Really felt you put good work into making this video rather than just mashing up the videos together. Hope you make more videos like this ❤❤

The thought that has gone into curating each move, the countdowns before the move in question are so helpful, the explanations of WHY the move is so good and even showing with a still camera shot so that you can focus on the point.
