The clips are from 2 games in 2010, when Xavi was believed to be at his prime. I have reviewed his own performance in these 2 games and picked out the most appropriate clips for the coaching points that players can pick up from his game.

    the study looked into the search frequency of 64 players over 118 games, covering 1,279 game situations. Lampard averaged 0.62 searches per second before receiving the ball. Steven Gerrard was very close on 0.61. Jordet believed that players who actively scanned their surroundings before they received the ball would produce a higher percentage of successful passes once they received possession. … One player was so far above the rest it was scary. Xavi Hernandez scored 0.83 in the table. Whenever he received the ball and had not scanned and sampled the information, he played the ball back from where it came. He took no risk when he didn’t have the information.

    Yep, use both feet, constantly look around, find space... I love his playing and try to emulate it in my friendly 7-7 football matches every week. It is fun to distribute the ball to your team and of course it is fun to trick the rivals with all the options you have (specially if you think ahead).

  • @AJ-lh4fp

    @AJ-lh4fp

    Xavi did it more effectively than most central midfielders, and more consistently. What he does is not special (except his mind blowing passes) it's how well and how often he does. You'll notice how less he loses possession compared to "all" the central midfielders that apply the same playstyle as him

    Anyone who recently know about Xavi/Iniesta will definitely say, Pep Guardiola is a fraud, because having Xavi/Iniesta as a world class player in his squad guaranteed his success in the past. And actually both Xavi/Iniesta just average player untill they winning CL in 2010 and afterward.

    xavi did it to perfection, you can't say that for the majority of midfielders. He did the simple and obvious things better than most
