In Germany we have an expression for his way of playing football: Vogelwild. It literally means "bird wild" (never knew birds where that wild, tbh) and describes someone who just runs around aimlessly without having any idea what he should do whatsoever. I just rewatched that match on FIFATV and noticed that he's almost playing as an attacker during the first minutes of the game. What the hell?

Every goal saw him making mistakes, being on the wrong position, standing and waiting for the ball or just walking around, even in case of emergency. Maybe he had taken some drugs, or maybe the Germans have paid him a lot of money for posing instead of playing. In my opinion his "performance" was the main reason for the Brazilian desaster.

Giving the ball away and losing possession is one thing. Being a defender in the oppositions half or box and losing possession is the biggest most costly mistake that can ever be made. He made this mistake so many times during this game it is almost quite impressive.

The amount of times he didn't know where to position himself, going forward and then losing the ball, long balls that reach nowhere... Just take a look at his positioning whenever Germany has possession of the ball, ludacris.

Até esse jogo era o melhor zagueiro da copa, pra mim foi o melhor zagueiro brasileiro que passou pelo Chelsea. But he genuinely looked like a guy who's never played football at any level before and doesn't know where to stand. Presumably he was playing centre-back, but there's no way to really tell. Maybe he was defensive mid. Maybe he was right winger. Maybe he was given a free role in attacking mid. Maybe he was playing for Germany. And THEN! PSG paid a world record transfer fee for a defender for him! £50m!
