2014/2015 Xavi left And in the same season, Barca won the treble, Xavi was not a regular first team player, the three in midfield that season was Rakitic--Busquets--Iniesta Xavi did not start ANY important game the whole season.

No-one in football history has been able to completely control the flow and tempo of the whole 90 minutes like Xavi did. The most influential player of the 21st century so far - he’s the man who made football about skill and intelligence again in the age of athleticism.

This is coming from a Real Madrid fan. The respect that I have for a player like don Xavi is immense. One of the most gifted and incredible players ever seen. Humble, calculated, controlled, magic. It might be blasphemy, but even the romans respected Hannibal. Don Xavi, you will always be a legend. One of the best of all times. With respect and a sad heart that you cannot play anymore, I salute you!

As a Madrid fan I was happy when he left Barcelona. As a football fan I was immeasurably sad.

those are great, but the previous lineup are just as good IMO... with Eto'o (later replaced by Pedro), Messi, & Villa up front.

Honestly I only realized how good Iniesta trully was when Xavi stopped being the main man in Barça's midfield. I thought the performances were going to dip a lot more then what they did after he left. I thought that Iniesta was very very very good but Xavi was on a slightly superior quality overall but honestly a few years later, I think it's impossible to split the two of them in terms of quality... Too bad they played during an era with 2 aliens otherwise both of them would've gotten at least a Ballon D'Or. Great video as per usual 😳 Also when is Iniesta's video coming out? ;)

Xavi was a scientist on the football pitch with a cashmere touch. He’s like a footballer using advanced knowledge of aerodynamics to get advantage on a football pitch. He read everybody language, he knew what manoeuvres could defy normal movements of the body, lean too much on the left he’d twist you to the right, run at him too fast, he’d deliberately let the ball overrun and you’re beaten, come at him slow, he’d move the ball quickly left or right, he treated both his team mates and his opponents like puppets as he manipulated and manouvered them with his invisible strings, he literally dictated the tempo of a football match whenever he was on the field and he controlled everything, with or without the ball. It was like he was playing with 5 pairs of eyes when others only had 1 pair. Simply Amazing!

Xavi and Iniesta were the best midfield tandem of their generation, and Barcelona hasn’t been the same since they left.

One of the reasons he doesn’t get mentioned more in the ‘greatest’ debates is because there is nobody to compare him to. Messi/Maradona. Ronaldo/Pele etc etc. Xavi was a conductor, similar to Guardiola in a lot of ways, but Xavi consistently influenced the biggest games for both Barcelona and Spain. Metronomic passing, amazing vision and a fierce team man to his core, it’s no coincidence that Barcelona and Spain haven’t reached the heights since. He was that influencial. Messi and Iniesta wouldn’t have had the careers they did/have without him.

Xavi will always be 100/100 for me, cause Im his fanboy, so dont hate me xD. He was the one I admired the most when I was the kid. Ppl always argued between Messi and Ronaldo, but it was always Xavi who was(is) the best of all time. His accuracy, vision of football pitch, leadership just won my heart. I know this video is old but welp just popped out in my recommendation. I wish now he will rebuild Barcelona ^^

His mentality was definitely a 10...man was decisive and confident every time he was on the pitch. Also his physicality is underrated (almost all barca players from pep's time) he was withstanding Bodies and winning duels with the world's best athletes with ease while showing off the team play.

Without Xavi, Barcelona and Spain would continue to be great teams but they would play differently, that's how good Xavi was

His greatest asset was his adherence to the "philosophy", of keeping the ball and use it to ATTACK. ALWAYS. He would make cross field passes, dribble through 4-5 defenders, play quick 1-2s , create passing triangles, basically whatever it took. The best midfielder to adorn the football pitch! Legend!

To improve your videos you should talk more about the players style of play. Talking about how a player fit into a system and where they played in terms of position would make these videos a little better.

Xavi not winning that Balon D'or was a big letdown. He deserved it far more than any of them, and I'm aware of who's Messi, but Xavi won everything up to that moment, not only he was a part of that, he was the MAIN part. Tiki-taka was possible, mainly, because of him, he was incredible with the ball, no matter the pressure, not only he wouldn't lose it, he'd still manage to land a wonderful pass anyway. His field awareness was something else, it reminded me of Laudrup, another player who could make plays happen out of nowhere. Even if he didn't score many goals, he had a good strike, and was very dangerous outside the area. Either makes a shoot, or gives a assistance to a teammate. Anyway, both Barcelona and Spain for a good 6-8 years won what they won (everything, basically) thanks to Xavi. If that doesn't deserve a Balon D'or, nothing does. To me, Xavi could never miss a spot on the best history 11.

The epitome of the Spanish and Barca teams that wowed the world for a period of time. He was metronomic and quite easily controlled the tempo of games, even facing the likes of BIGWIGS such as Zidane, Kaka, Pirlo and Scholes. Pep Guardiola, Luis Aragones and Vicente Del Bosque laid down the imprints of the successes those teams had, and Xavi was the first to implement them. How he would dance with midfielders of all calibers, how he would turn 360° to create space, how he would pick those passes in behind the defenses, how he would split defenses with killer passes....ONLY HE WOULD KNOW. Having peaked in 2006, and getting to his absolute prime in 2011, no one has quite effected the midfield of games like he has. Xavi Hernandez, an ALL TIME GREAT, ONE OF THE GREATEST MIDFIELDERS the game has ever seen, and definitely, the BEST PASSER OF THAT LOT.
