    Great video Jeff. Love em. I've been working on these little gems since I was a kid in the 60's Still love them. I don't have a tow truck in my collection. I could definitely finish up the project and make you want it back.

    Older brushes seem thinner. My truck has the green armature. I think yours does too. Secret speed weapon back in the day. Rear rotating wheels once they get rolling will contribute to coasting and maintaining power. Cool truck.

    Hey Shift, I think you are spot-on. This chassis far surpasses any other Thunder Jet chassis I have. I'm going to see if I can duplicate it's rolling attribute to another chassis. Thanks for the comment!!

    I could definitely finish up that truck, no problem- plus I could use it with that trailer I got from you while back. Finally getting back up on my feet and once I do the projects will be full send again. I miss customizing, building models and so on, also showing my boys how I do stuff so they'll be getting the hang of it.

    I wish I could finish the tow truck but my 60 (almost 61) year old eyes just ain’t up to it but I did want to make a comment on the coasting chassis. It’s possible someone polished the gears with simichrome to make them smoother. It may have been used on the chassis & plate holes also. Another great video!

    Hey Steve, I'm right behind you, I'm 59, almost 60. I do find myself looking over the tops of my glasses to see things up close better, but it's getting tougher. I'll keep pushing on.

    Jeff, I personally know the feeling to have a great looking t-jet ice cream truck but it is missing the front bumper. I have been searching for several years for a replacement bumper.

    Hey Michael, for the very reason you stated is why I started to reproduce the parts I needed. I was missing the Batmobile rear windshield for years & years, that's what got me started. If you'd like one of my Ice Cream Truck bumpers, you can email me at: smokintjets@gmail.com. and I'll get it right out to you! I'd love to see a picture when it's done!! Take care Michael, see ya!

    I’m a long time admirer of your channel. Really enjoy it! I was wondering if you ever tried to use a cigar box body on a t- jet chassis? I know the chassis is riveted on and didn’t know if they could be drilled out so the body could be made to fit Some of the cigar box bodies for sale are in great shape and not too pricey. I figured if anyone would know you would! Thanks!

    Hey Jimmy, the rivets have to be ground down to get the chassis off of the body. You'll notice that the front screw post is shorter. Aurora made them that way to accommodate the Cigar Box chassis, so you'll have to add a tiny spacer to the front screw post. They are fun projects, and like you said the Cigar Box car go for much lass that the Thunder Jet bodies. Let me know how you do, or if you need any have. Take care Jimmy, see ya!!

    I would love to have the truck and could finish the job with no problems, but I would defer to onefunfone. If the truck is given to one of us, I would ask that you have it returned to you to do a review of the finished truck, then return the truck to whom you gave it to.

    Is it possible your next video do you have any tyco motorcycles?

  • @JeffRyan

    @JeffRyan

    2 ай бұрын

    Hey James, I don't have any Tyco motorcycles right now, however the Dragula I made was from a Tyco motorcycle that I gutted. Here are some steps and tips to ensure it performs properly: 1. Cleaning Disassemble the Car: Carefully take apart the motorcycle, noting how each part fits together. -Clean the Parts: Use a soft brush and mild detergent to clean the body and chassis. For metal parts, use a mild abrasive cleaner or a metal polish. Ensure all parts are thoroughly dried before reassembly. 2. Inspect and Replace Worn Parts Tires: Check for dry rot or excessive wear. Replace if necessary. -Motor Brushes: Inspect the motor brushes and replace them if they are worn down. Pickup Shoes: These should be clean and free of oxidation. Replace if they are worn or pitted. 3. Lubrication Motor and Gears: Use a light oil or specific slot car lubricant to lubricate the motor bearings and gears. Avoid over-lubrication, as excess oil can attract dirt and grime. -Axles and Wheels: Ensure the axles spin freely. Apply a small amount of oil to the axles. 4. Electrical Connections Check Wiring: Inspect all wiring for any breaks or loose connections. Solder any loose connections. Clean Contacts: Use a contact cleaner to clean all electrical connections and the pickup shoes. 5. Alignment and Tuning Chassis Alignment: Ensure the chassis is straight and true. A misaligned chassis can affect performance. Wheel Alignment: Make sure the wheels are aligned properly and rotate without wobbling. 6. Track Preparation Clean Track: Clean the track rails with a track cleaning solution or a mild abrasive to ensure good electrical contact. Power Supply: Check the power supply to ensure it is providing a consistent voltage. 7. Testing and Adjustments Test Run: After reassembly, do a test run to see how the motorcycle performs. Listen for any unusual noises and check for smooth operation. Fine-Tuning: Make any necessary adjustments to the motor, gears, or chassis to improve performance. Additional Tips Manuals and Schematics: If available, refer to any manuals or schematics for the specific model of Tyco Pro Motorcycle for guidance. Following these steps should help you restore your Tyco Pro Motorcycle slot car to proper working condition.
