The Iron Snail is a men’s fashion vlog starring a young man named Michael and featuring a snail no bigger than a quarter. The two are set on taking over the world of fashion by creating a clothing line to end all clothing lines. Until then, we’re here to tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about the best clothing out there, from the highest quality raw denim jeans to the warmest jacket to the sturdiest boots…the Iron Snail has got you covered. (written by Taylor, though Michael is sometimes known to talk about himself in the third person… xoxo)

Great video, I love how you broke down the fabric, lining and why we should not wash, which a lot of videos don’t explain

I got one off eBay a couple of years ago and the lining is 100% cotton flannel. Wish they’d left it that way. I think many folks would pay slightly more for that. A premium line is a great idea. This has been my go to rain jacket since I bought it and finally due for a re-wax. Worn mostly casually but also for hiking, chopping wood and other light work applications. I love that thing. Only downside is the older versions also didn’t have the phone pocket. I’m planning on having my tailor put one in probably this year. Nice work on the video as always! Congrats on the success of your first jacket! Keep it up!

They may have used lower quality material for the inner lining, but on the other hand, they raised the price.
I have this jacket, and love it. Originally got a large but my shoulders are a little wide and it was tight in the armpits. Got an xl and had it tapered (44 chest, 33 waist) and it’s perfect. Gets better every time I wear it.
You are really great at what you do man. Im currently deep diving through your content and i am wildly impressed.
I only had the intention of watching a review of this particular jacket but man you’re oozing charisma and these are very well edited videos! Instant sub.

Hi Michael, I have just discovered your channel and I am really enjoying it. Being English, I have always tended towards Barbour; however, having seen your video, I recently ordered the wool-lined field tan version (there were only 2 left, and both were in my size 😁) from Huckberry, and it is now a firm favourite of mine.
SIZE SMALL! HI! So I see that Huckberry does have a wool BUT I figured it was totally discontinued because it's sold out all the time...I'll check in with my contacts and update this comment!

I love the field tan but the Havana brown also looks great. It’s a hard choice. I love the black but I definitely can’t get two jackets at the moment 😅

Ahoy, Mr Snail. You omitted to state which size you wore. I'm guessing this was an internet ploy to confuse and befuddle your viewership, with an exciting size reveal in the next video??? As i only have access to the internet for the next 2.73 days, i would appreciate an early sneak peak at the label. Congrats on your recent denim creation, i look forward to you "taking over the world" and becoming our new overlord.

Love the jacket and the feel. I have the lines jacked and love it without a doubt. Made & Sourced in the USA…All day. The value is excellent. 6’0” 200 and I love it. Not to stiff at all, great feel and look.
I've had mine for 3+ years and it's everything you want from a waxed canvas lined jacket: waterproof (to date), comfortable and cool looking, and warmish. Together with the great price point and its timeless appeal, this is my favourite all round jacket that only looks better the more I wear it.

I like mine. Good spring/fall jacket. I agree a lined and/or bigger inside pocket would be nice. The waxed pocket smudge glasses and sunglasses.
I love my tan waxed trucker, I wear it a lot riding my motorcycle. the problem is that the front of my sleeves are starting to turn a blackish color from the road grime. So definitely go with a darker color if you're going to do any riding with your jacket.
Finally picked one up this week. I was really impressed with the build quality. I think it’s worth the hype. I do wish the front pockets were lined, that would make it a perfect jacket. Regardless, I’ll most likely have some kind of gloves on when wearing it, so it’s not that big a deal. I got mine on Amazon. I’m 5’7”, 195, and I got a large and it fits great with room to layer.
I purchased an unlined one from Gustin. Made in the US for $150, it’s a great looking jacket. With Gustin you just have to have patience with their crowd sourcing platform.
You have earned my thumbs up with that date idea. Hahaha!
I have the Rouge Territory version of this, unlined, and man, that thing is sneaky warm. It turns out, waxing prevents breathability. This is great in rain, or wind, but if the temp is above 60, be careful, because your going to get some sweaty arms, and I can see how that’s a turn off for some, but I overall love the jacket and am glad I don’t have the liner as it’s intended for our current fall conditions. Love the videos man!!!! Continued success!
Lovely! I can tell you why the Huckberry jacket is so popular, and not being crass. It's affordable, and available. Unlike Filson, (expensive and sell out quick) is just better, not the best but very nice. I have both Filson colors and wear them often. I just picked up a Tobacco Motowear / Pack Animal Bridger Jacket and I really love it. Definitely my new favorite. Happy to hear how fast you sold out!

Thanks for the review! I got a couple of questions though: do you need to wax them from time to time like the Barbours in order to keep its waterproof conditions? And does the wax coating smell and eventually spread the smell in the closet? Thank you beforehand
They do also offer a wool-lined version btw. I have owned my flannel-lined since November. my main gripes are that i wish that there was a chest pocket on both sides or not at all for symmetry. Also, I wish that the inner lining was color neutral without those yellow stripes as it can take away from your outfit if the yellow is not complimentary. Additionally, it would have been nice to have a lining inside of the front side pockets as to allow for more comfort and insulation during cold weather.

happy october michael!!!! congrats on selling out!! i will be buying a pin once i get paid!!!!!
What an amazing review!❤
I agree that they should get rid of the poly liner and get one that is at least a wool or cot-un blend
I looked at this but it's too similar to my Kuhl jacket that I've had (and love) for years. I did, however, order their Relwyn waxed CPO jacket with the sherpa lining and it's REALLY nice. Well worth the price.
Yooooo...I thought I recognized you. I was watching the Theo and Harris channel. Good stuff
I need a more waterproof jacket BUT it’s also rarely rainy here and for non rainy cold days I prefer a thin lined chore coat. But I’ve always been curious about waxed jackets.

Any brands you'd recommend for a sub $100 peacoat? (incl. Pre-owned).

Honestly I've never really minded not having a lining in a jacket. I find the waxed material very cooling on my arms. It can be a bit too waxy but it's something you get used to.
Shoot - this video saved me - had no ideas these jackets are so popular! Can’t decide if I should buy this or Silver because according to KZread both are about gone!

I just bought this jacket in tan. Did anyone else have the issue of it coming in looking a lot darker than all of the images and videos online? I don't know if the color will lighten up over time, I'm worried if I wait to find out I won't be able to return the jacket of it doesn't.
Glad, but not surprised that the prologue jacket sold so quickly. 🎉
Does it leave an odor smell after it dried off from the rain?
Hi, what is you chest size please? :) I am 94 cm a dont know if should I size up to M for more room under for hoodie or if it S would be enough. Thanks
so, you shouldn't wash the jacket? What do people do if it gets dirty or stinky?
One of the best dupes of Filson - although I still like the way Filson looks a bit more (more rugged, rough looking than this one)
Would you recommend the wool lined one? Is it worth the markup?
Thanks for the video. You mentioned your height and weight but I didn’t catch what size jacket you were wearing. I’m just about exactly your size but don’t know if I should do a small or medium. Could you confirm jacket size? TIA!
They offer a well one don't they? Isn't available for all colors but it's a heck of a lot more expensive.
Great video and hilarious! Thank you!
there is a wool lined version , at least there was last year
can anyone recommend a waxed jacket of this quality for women ?
how do you wash it? dry clean?
@theironsnail I know you said the black one is Black… but is yours Black or Coal?
I love my Huck trucker but had to size up, it was too snug in my normal size.
Thanks for your review! Really liked it, but ultimately decided to give it a pass after realizing it had polyester lining. I prefer natural fabrics and for that price, I would expect something better.
You can rewax these which will enhance water resistance but may make the fabric look slicker. 5 minutes inside out in a dryer will make the jacket look like new.
I love this channel
If I would have gone true to size it would have beeen way to small. I’m 6’3” and 275lbs. I normally wear a 2xl in T-shirts and jackets. I ordered a 3xl and it fits perfect. (I have a Carhartt duck jacket and it’s a 2xl and big on me. Just look at the size guide!

Hey guys long comment ahead but i'm sure a lot of you can relate. I think we're all glad to see that the interest in good quality clothing, artisanal brands, and more sustainable way of consuming clothes has gone way up in the last few years ( at least in menswear ). But i think that for a lot of us it brought some very very bad habits. Let's be honest : most of us used to NOT CARE that much about clothing and didn't overybuy anything, and at the beginning we might have not been interested in "style" or " fashion" at all. But deep down we all like good things, made well and ethical. So when we got introduced to the fact that there are brands that makes really good stuff, ethical, nice looking and so on... of course we were super interested and went right down the rabbit hole. And i have to say that for myself and most of my friend that came after, we went totally overboard with it. And it the end it completely deflected the purpose of the thing. It was all about "buy less but better", " that one pair of jean that will last you a decade", "that only jacket you'll ever need". I can bet that most of you started to spend MUCH MORE and MUCH MORE OFTEN on clothing since you got in the "hobby". And that's because there's a really perveted since happening : we make ourselves think that it's FINE to buy that new flannel, pair of jeans of jacket or whatever because : " it's ethically made ", " yes it's expensive but in the long run it will be worth it", " that way i can support local brands". But let's face it : we end up with a wardrobe with way way WAY too much stuff. Stuff that we can't wear to the fullest, can't enjoy to the fullest. NOBODY needs 5 pairs of jeans, NOBODY needs 4 flannels, 3 winters jackets. We just get caught up in the pulsion of BUYING that " new stuff " that we want to try, and we make excuses for it. Don't get me wrong i LOVE what all theses brands do and i have a closet FULL of their stuff, but sometimes it takes someone from outside to make you realise : " oh shit i really went overboard with it " For me it was my girlfriend who started to look a me funny when yet another western shirt came in the mail 😄 Anyway, i'm sure a lot of you will relate. I wanted to post this for a long time and i hope it wasn't to hard to read as english isn't my first language. Cheers everyone !

I have several Rogue Territory Supply waxed canvas jackets, yet I reach for the Huckberry more often. Hard to explain why, but it just has that “daily driver” feel io it the others do not. KInd of like Chuck Taylors vs boots. Sometimes you just want to be comfortable without being too flashy.

I'm in a similar boat! Gone through hundreds of reviews. Though 5'6", 135lb (same as Michael) and 36" chest. I'm on the border between XS and S much like you with S and M. My logic is if you live in a warmer climate and don't plan to layer it, Small may be worth a risk to achieve a slimmer fit. If you live in colder climates and wanna layer a sweater/hoodie then a M for sure. ALTHOUGH the site has models with your chest measurements wearing the Medium so personally I'd suggest a Medium for you. I hope to edit this comment when I eventually pull the trigger on a XS (I live in Australia so it's never that cold), though I'm basically the same size and Michael and he wears a Small. Dilemma! EDIT: 5'6" 135lb 36" chest. Ordered XS and it fits absolutely perfectly. It's snug if I decide to button and layer a thick hoodie underneath but you can do it. If you're curious about sizing, I highly suggest measuring your chest and then comparing to the models on the huckberry website. It's a fantastic sizing tool if you aren't too lazy to measure your chest!
@Dannykholden

Hey, I did go for Medium and I’m very happy with it. If I went with small I’m sure it would have been ok but not at all for layering, just a T. But the Medium looks pretty good with just a T but is great with a sweater or hoodie, which is what I was going for really with the type of jacket it is and living in the UK (mild and raining today!). I’d agree and go with XS if I were you.
